McKennitt's extraordinary music compositions, celestial voice and magnificent band, using ancient and modern instruments, always takes the listener on a cultural journey, both around the world through space and time and also on the astral plane, beyond this world. The perfect meditation music for the healing of the soul.

Evening Justin. Dave from Across The Ocean. I totally agree with your reaction. It was the first album of hers that I bought and it's still my favourite. In the CD booklet, she describes her visits to the city of Santiago de Compostela in Northern Spain and how she was inspired by stories of St James (who is buried there) and the walking pilgrimage so many make to the city (including a work colleague of mine). The musicians on this track are: LM vocals, accordion, synth; Brian Hughes balalaika, guitars; Rick Lazar drums, percussion; George Koller cello, bass; Hugh Marsh fiddle; Nigel Eaton hurdy-gurdy; David Lunny bouzouki.

That's right - what else can you say about this, it's top drawer in every way. Amazing musicality, composition, multiculturalism, realization. Just amazing.

Gimme Clannad 's less frantic early 80s efforts over this anyday. Celtic waistcoat ponytail ethnic Folk stadiumRock or NewAge dolphin sounds substitute from the aural displayPod in the newly extended Crimbo Section of the Outta Town Garden Super Centre. I can't decide. Half expected PG himself to warble in half way thru - in a canoe - with a Mike taped to his chin and a long stick as a rudder. Alternatively, for some extra ooomph culture-wise try Ireland's Moving Hearts Or Christy Moore. I'm not a big fan of either but feel the need for something more distinct Not a mish mash of lowest common denominators that end up in a whirlpool of instrumentalists in a muso factory just down the road from the superGarden Centre. Great Fun though. Diolch.
