I really hated that plot line prob bc Amy didn’t write it. Like him not telling Lorelei about her when we know Lorelei would have reacted just fine. Or him not letting Lorelei ever talk to April. Like I get that at first but come on that’s just like a fake thing the new writers put in to manufacture drama. Half of the April drama was just Luke being dumber than usual for bad reasons. We know he could have just talked this out with Lorelei and then the drama could have come from April’s mom, but nope whoever ran the show at that point thought nah let’s make luke and Lorelei break up again for the 3rd time. That’s not overdone or anything.
@@Meanie74 That story line, arc was in season 6, when Amy and Dan were still very much a part of the series. And, Amy also wrote the moment that made me want to throw out my TV---When Lorelai went to Chris, after giving Luke an ultimatum. We just don't know how she, Amy, would have done next?
@@heavenlygal101 hmm makes sense. I always thought April as a character was def written in part by Dan or Amy but I know I felt like the ball was severely dropped in season 7.
I don't care what anyone says, April is a Gilmore Girl, in spirit if not in blood. The way she was able to keep up with Rory, form such a bond with her, proves it.
Well-read,smart as a whip, and quick with the wit. I don't care what anyone says, but April is a Gilmore Girl, right up there with Paris, Lane and Rory herself.
April is like, my favourite character. She's what Rory was supposed to be, but a little more eccentric. It's not her fault the writers used her as artificial conflict for Luke and Lorelai in the later seasons.
That’s what happens when they set her up in a relationship season one so later her relationships become who she is, really disappointing. I wish we had a teen Rory who decided not to date Dean or anyone just for character development. Rory and Paris had enough chemistry in early seasons that more scenes within her high school can be shown.
I wish they did a little contrast of them just allowing April to grow and make her mistakes even if they don’t agree vs the Gilmore traditional way of being controlling and over bearing until the child develops issues. It would make this scene deeper and more wholesome.
Yeah but having nearly blown it with lorelai the first time April came into his life, don't you think he would make sure he wouldn't behave the same way. Lorelai is more or less April's stepmother here. Her solution to April's dilemma was quite sensible. But luke was pretty dismissive of it.
@@alancjones64 luke probably doesn't see april very often anymore, and he just wants to have his own parent-child relationship with her like lorelai and rory do
@@alancjones64 totally, he can have his own dynamic with april without shutting out lorelai. you'd NEVER see her pulled something like that to him. literally, that scene when rory quitted yale and luke was ranting about getting her back was the reason why lorelai proposed to him
Rory was entitled and never really worked hard enough for anything, everything was placed on her feet in silverware. Lorelai was fucking annoying and they both acted like they were royalty
I don't think she was being snobby about it. She's mentioning it because between that, and the Germany trip, Luke is paying a bunch of money and she wanted to let him know she wants and can help out. Which, considering April isn't her kid, I found sweet. She doesn't have any type of responsability towards April, but she still cares and offers her help.
@@itsthefluorescents4777 Rory worked hard to getcsomething. What was handed to her. If anyone was snobbish and had everything handed to them was Logan he was worse then Rory every was.
I don't think she's being snobby about it, I think she's just pointing out the facts. MIT probably costs a fortune and when you don't have wealthy grandparents to pay for it, the money has to come from somewhere. Rory also wasn't given any scholarship because of the money Richard gave her from the investment. Yale thought they had way more money than they did so they didn't qualify for anything.
ok but who was responsible for the fashion, hair and make up?? Rory looks like a 45 year old suburban mom, and Lorelai also looks much older than she is! Especially Lorelai was always up to date when it came to fashion, they all seem so out of touch with the modern world
April Nardini ... When bad characters happen to good actors. It's like Michelle Trachtenberg (Dawn on 'Buffy'), Vincent Kartheiser (Connor on 'Angel'), Kaley Cucco (Billie on 'Charmed'). Just poor actor trying to get by, in a sea of TV Shows jumping the shark.
April wasn't even a bad character they just used her for to be a wedge in Lorelai and Luke's relationship which shouldn't of happened. She's personally one of my favorite characters i just think they wrote the situations around her wrong
Whoa whoa whoa. Michelle is amazing as Dawn. People hate on Dawn because they find her an annoying 14-year old girl. You know who is annoying? Actual 14-year old girls. And this is coming from a 14-year old girl. Dawn gets a lot of flack thrown at her (some deserved), but overall the character was a good move for the show to make and Michelle did a phenomenal job with the character.
April is a great foil character, they have Paris, Jess, Rory, and April, all intelligent young people with different and realistic personalities and a varied array of social skills, the show failed her because it used her subplot to try to draw out the "Will they, won't they" BS that the writers falsely believed was essential to drive the story along when the real energy the show fed off of was the interactions between the characters.
Only bright spot for me was the Rory /Jess scenes. He gave her ,yet again, some solid friendly advice. Opened her eyes to the very obvious situation she was confronting. She dropped out of Yale, and he got her questioning THAT decision among countless others. So, this time , he reminds her she is a writer. So write a book. Duh. But , agreed. This 4 part series just didn't have the same flavor of the original series. More questions than answers.
I want to watch the revival. Can you tell me which parts are bad. Because I watch the scene that lorelai tells a story about Richard and it was emotinial. İ guess it was the only goıd scene
@@blinkylisa7200 Literally 90% of it is awful. I agree the Richard scene is beautiful. And Jess's scenes are all worth watching. Lots of people like Emily's stuff (especially the DAR scene as someone mentioned) though I disagree and then maybe some of Luke and Lorelai's last scenes. But really that's it. Overall the story is crap watching theses scenes in isolation is probably for the best.
@@miriamassefaw2541 Actually I hate Emily's whole story including the DAR scenes. I think it's very OOC and pretty hard to believe. I get why people like it, especially Kelly but I don't think it's realistic for Emily.
2:10-3:04 The precise moment that you realize that you haven't really missed out on anything about having a sibling, yet simultaneously can't imagine what life would be like without her.
I enjoyed the April scenes, but I'm disappointed it was just a cameo. A lot of old characters were just cameos in the revival. I wanted to see April bond with Lorelai and Rory more. Why wasn't April at the wedding?
where was annas mother to help her with her school and vacation expenses?? if she cared for her so much. Was it right for her to leave it all for luke to deal with?
Parece que falta emoción en la convivencia de Luke y lorelai,y él parece que aún no deja involucrar a lorelai en las decisiones, apesar que ella quiere ayudar.
Rory and Lorelai are being such snobs. Rory who freaked out and stole a yacht is looking all judgey about April having a panic attack. Lorelai whose kid is unemployed and directionless is like, "Maybe April should get a job"
I took it she pointed out how expensive April's schooling is and he's paying for everything. At least loreali wanted to help pay. What is Anna doing???
Am I the only one who kinda disturbed by the fact that she looks exactly the same ? Like the only difference is that she just slightly taller, but that's it.
Rory also had a huge freak out in college, wish she was better with relating with April. Would love a sibling bonding moment in this way. Rory herself is still lost, I guess.
That's true but sometimes the awkwardness just evolves into a new style haha April is a science major, probably spends a lot of time studying, isn't very sociable compared to the Gilmore girls, and probably is trying to "remake" herself (nose ring, clothes, pot, etc) when she just needs to be herself
@@rcd2000 yeah....also....there are socially awkward kids that become socially awkward adults that goes especially for many that are neurodivergent including many on the autistic spectrum I am a neurodivergent with dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD
Sometimes people don't evolve out of their awkwardness though. I'm 25, work in customer service, and I still lack poise. Maybe April even has low functioning autism which would explain why she can be too blunt at times.
I always wanted April and Rory to become friends. I know I'm probably not in the majority here, but I would have LOVED to have seen the two of them with their own sister plotline through the revival. Their age gap is about the same as me and my little sister, and we also got closer when she started college and I found myself floundering in adulthood.
What an odd suggestion that she should say April should get a part time job. Rory didn’t get a scholarship and her tuition was paid by her wealthy grandparents then her wealthy father. The only time Rory had to lift a finger was during community service and working for the DAR which is unpaid. Lorelai is lucky Luke isn’t petty because I would of let that snob have it. Don’t tell me how to raise my kid. I’ve seen the product your producing and I ain’t impressed lady.
might be that she realised she made a mistake with rory, seeing as she wound up at her house again.. People aren't always pure evil, sometimes they get new insights..
@@FienDeLaere that’s never implied though she never once questions her daughters life choices in the revival or have a moment where she questions her own parenting.
It's the wealthy part. Luke has always had a lot of savings, and the dinner does well, but he is by no means Gilmore and Hayden rich. Paying for college and overseas travel is a big deal. And Rory did have some part-time jobs but did very much take advantage of her rich family and rich boyfriend, which was Emily's plan; Lorelai gave her laundry money and got her a job.
i wish we could’ve seen her interact with lorelai more. those two were so cute in the birthday party episode and then that was the end of them in the og series 🥺
I agree and Lorelai is so good with children and young adults they could have had a good vibe even Rory accepted her as a younger sibling it could have been one happy family
yes, thought so too. even though april seemed to be more into science, while rory had always been a literature girl. also april is not as witty or up to date when it comes to pop culture. but also remember Jess' stepsister from California? She also was obsessed with reading. seemed like the producers really love nerdy daughters lol
Luke is rude to Lorelai in this scene. They STILL have issues over April. He’s rude when he says “She’s mine!”. And Lorelai just takes his bs in a few scenes instead of speaking her mind. She seems weak. Like she’s walking on eggshells.
April is annoying ,still. She is supposed to be highly intelligent. Nothing she says or does convinces me of that. Some enjoyed this character. The Gilmore's seem to agree with me. They tolerate her because she is Luke's blood. Never liked her MOM. Seemed selfish to me. Keeping her a secret from her DAD. At least Rory knew hers.
I think it's hilarious that Lorelei suggests a job for April, as if Rory had a job in high school or college (except for that very brief instance we saw her swiping cards in the cafeteria while talking on the phone).
Also worked at the indepence inn for events while in hs. Worked at the bookstore over summer. Mulled over two different summer jobs before ending up going to Europe with Emily. Then the internship at the Stamford eagle gazette that turned into a job right before she went back to Yale. Rory doesn't really do idle. So yea, she worked sporadically throughout the entire series.
Isn't April about 21/22 yo at this point? Rory had some jobs at this age. The DAR, the bookstore summer job and by 22 she was seeking for a stable job.
I think Gilmore girls a year in the life was a great Gilmore girls reboot season 1 was the best and should have a Season 2 and I think luke daughter April should have a boyfriend.
I also hated the revivals but this family dinner scene is worthful. I just wish all these virtual characters in stars hollow live happily ever after... Maybe writers want us to imagine the future after the show. Like Rory to be the new lorelai while Jess is new Luke... (Rogan=Christopher)
I loved certain storylines from the revival, but this wasn't it. Lorelai and Rory's actresses are bit out of touch with their characters and the chemistry between L&L is gone. And Luke was more as a father-acting to Rory than he was to April.
For the record: The girl should get a job! If she wants to travel (which everybody should while they're healthy and childless), that's her journey to afford. Obviously, my parents gave me a little extra when I first traveled on mt own, but I didn't just send them a whole airline + hotel bill. And the point wasn't that my parents wouldn't have had the money to finance the thing, but understanding the value of hard-earned money is crucial, let alone when you're a theoretical genius who tends to struggle a bit in the real, practical world like April.
