Loretta found out that the White Stripes dedicated their album to her because they played her music while driving around gig to gig. Loretta invited them over for dinner and she said she hadn't made an album in over 10 years. Jack said he'd produce it if she ever wanted to and well tada the rest is history! She had a ton of writren songs and they chose this one 🎶❤😊 Loretta took a hit for this from her die hard fans unfortunately but I think this is fabulous!
One of the greatest collaborations in my living time. This song is the apex of Lynn working with White and is the master track of the Van Lear Rose recording sessions.
I am pretty sure that sound at intro mimics the sound of Portland. With light rail system tins bridges and the vibe of riverside, that is just what Portland sounds like. Jack White is beyond brilliant
I agree Loretta and Jack White A winning combination! I live in Portland Oregon so That song is special to me! The whole album rings true to Classic Country Storytelling!
This is the only LL song I know by heart, I own this CD too. I'm sure some of her loyal fans were surprised to hear this track at first when it originally came out. I still jam out to it.
Well, Portland Oregon and sloe gin fizz If that ain't love, then tell me what is, uh huh, uh huh Well I lost my heart, it didn't take no time But that ain't all, I lost my mind in Oregon In a booth in the corner with the lights down low I was movin' in fast, she was takin' it slow, uh huh, uh huh Well, I looked at him and caught him lookin' at me I knew right then we were playin' free in Oregon Next day, we knew last night got drunk But we loved enough for the both of us, uh huh, uh huh In the morning when the night had sobered up It was much too late for the both of us in Oregon Well, sloe gin fizz works mighty fast When you drink it by the pitcher and not by the glass, uh huh, uh huh Hey bartender, before you close Pour us one more drink and a pitcher to go And a pitcher to go (And a pitcher to go) And a pitcher to go (And a pitcher to go) And a pitcher to go (And a pitcher to go) Yeah And a pitcher to go And a pitcher to go
Today - the day after Loretta died - it's appropriate to say that it was the fates of the gods that White and Lynn met and then went on to record such a great album...
There's no place like the 🖐🤌👌.. I've been all around the country (USArmy_19k) and no matter where I was, I went through periods of depression due to home sickness.. Battle buddies wouldn't understand until I started bringing them with me on leave. The thing that shocked them most.. The diversity of the🌹. We're lucky!
Hearing this for the first time you’d have to think you jumped timelines. I went to the CMHoF back in 2005. I was shocked to see this dress, that guitar and a legal pad with these songs written on them as a tribute to her longevity. But, I’ll be galdern if they ever come play it. If I hadn’t seen it, so close to the release of the album too, I’d have never believed it.
There used to be a really cool video to this song on the channel “BVMTVOutlawCountry” but it was taken down OR says “Not available in your country” .... god I hate that !! Plus I also hate all this RU-vid Copyright Crap !!
And a Pitcher to go.. remember Sonny at the philly Army Navy game when you walked out with that drink in the hall and left me in the hotel room by myself and you had a screw driver in a pitcher and that was your 'beverage.' Yeah... that
@@brucerichards5938 Dolly Parton is turning out to be a joke around the water cooler ! She needs to shut her big fake mouth and go home to Dollywood! She's lost all respect due to this stupid Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Bullshit! Stop and think WHY the hell would they want a broke down ole Country Music Artist in and leave so many famous Rock Legends out ?? Nope this bullshit just does not add up ! Loretta Lynn had more class in her ass cheek than Dolly Parton has in her whole plastic surgery body !!
