Not look in her wedding album year's after Granny is gone and say to her grandchildren , I didn't like it ,my grandmother chose it. It was my Grandmothers choice. I will be celebrating 50 years married in June, my mother picked my dress, I wasn't even their. I never got to try any dresses on. My sweetheart came home from two tours of duty in Viet Nam .My mother bought my dress she got it second hand, She announced, Fiona I got you your dress it was up to the neck, with long sleeves in a thick silk A line very plain. I picked my own vail, I didn't have much money left after buying my shoes, and getting my sisters dress shoes ext. So acted appreciative about the dress. I look back at the pictures and think, I hated that dress.

I know that money can be tight but if you can, I implore you to search for it and find the dress that makes you feel beautiful. You are an adult now and it won't come off as being unappreciated if you told your mother (if present) that you didnt like your dress. After years of you not saying anything, she would be the rude one in not understanding. You are her daughter and should be her life. I think that it would be fine as long as there's an understanding between you too. So, again I implore you to reach for that dream. Unless otherwise impossible. You can even speak to your children about it (if you have any). I'm sure it'll mean alot coming from you.

I know I feel in my opion that beauty pageants aren't good especially of there young girls they already have enough pressure no need to be judged in there beauty in public for a prize

Yeah, honestly she seemed to know what she wanted, the only thing making her “indecisive” was knowing that Grandma would be an a-hole about it.

The 2nd really was the right dress. It was perfect for her age too. They cuda customized it a bit with blingy appliqyes to the layers and bodice easily and affordably. Her final choice added weight and was kinda dull to me.

I agree with the necklace and earrings, not so much a belt. I think a belt would have diluted both the long line of the waist on the dress and simplicity of the dress itself. It would have been bling just for the sake of bling. Otherwise, yes, I loved the second dress, and more to the point, so did the bride.

@@aec9174 A belt does not have to be at the waist it can also be right under the bust as we have seen many times. Jewelry could be classic such as Pearls or diamond.

I thought the second dress was perfect for her figure and also thought about a belt but then I looked at the design on the side of the dress and thought it might mess that up so maybe just a big blingy pin on the waistline along with the blingy necklace and earrings

I think that if the bride would've had a blinged up veil, a few small accessories (whether it's earrings, bracelet or a necklace), she would've been simple enough for her liking, and blinged up enough for Gigi's liking. I know since I went through something similar (NOT to the point of a wedding, but still a big deal for me) on my first communion. I honestly remember looking like a smol bride. The dress code made all the girls wear white dresses, and my white dress was really simple, so grandma added pearls onto the top, the flower on the side of my belt and trailing down my long skirt; I also remember having a veil my grandma blinged up with hand-sewn pearls on it and glueing some on the flowers of my crown (I was required to wear flowers too, lol). I was the opposite of this bride, since I wanted to be blinged up, but grandma wanted me to still stay a bit simple. We had a nice conversation of agreement before going shopping and then everything got better from there. She never forced me to go simple, but instead embraced that I wanted to be a lil sparkly, and I respected the simplicity as an option too, so I decided to try it as a way to open my options. When she blinged up my dress, veil and crown, it was simple enough for her liking, blinged up enough for MY liking, and we both were extremely happy to the point of tears and hugs. A lil communication, agreement, and respect for each other's opinion (especially the person wearing said garment) is crucial and important in occasions like these with the entourage. I believe that if SHE was blinged up in the second dress with the veil and jewelry, Gigi would've said "Yes!".

Think about a lifetime of being around that woman, you do what you can to survive from a young age and learn to cope. Mom and the bride are a byproduct of that upbringing. I feel bad for them both.

That little girl’s mum could have died, she might not be in her life. By inviting her along, she’s letting that little girl know that she values her opinion and cares for her.

Little girls feel like they are the bride as well, it is all magical to them! I was the little sister and I felt so magical because my older sisters either made my attendant dresses or someone else in our family made them. I remember my sister hemming the organdy overskirt of my poufy flower girl dress, it is STILL magical to me, that she included me like that over sixty years later!

When she was walking back to the dressing room in the second dress at 5:10 she had a blingy belt on, so they did try it and just cut the footage.

The second dress was stunning and lengthened her torso like she said, giving her more shape. It was the perfect dress for her and she knew it, and she needed to stand up to Grandma. The dress she ended up with did not flatter her at all.

My grandmother was the same way. Southern to the core, and sweet as she could be. My siblings, cousins, and I had wonderful times at the rural home where my grandparents lived. She'd let us do pretty much anything we wanted, as long as we asked permission. I asked her once if she had made up her mind that she was going to be a storybook grandmother. She just smiled, nodded, then wiped away a tear or two when I assured her she had succeeded magnificently. I miss her every day.

Yep. 2nd dress was the most flattering for her. She looked gorgeous in it. Grandmother wasn't looking for the most flattering dress though. Grandma wanted a traditional waistline & bling, even if it wasn't the best for her granddaughter's figure. Sad.

The second dress was gorgeous on her. It didn't need anything. The bride's happiness and natural beauty shone through and that was all the bling that was needed. Most times less is more. I'm always amazed at the brides who allow others to influence the first important major purchase of their new lives. News FLASH! It won't stop after you're married so put your big girl pants on and get the dress YOU want!

Everytime I see someone in the entourage say they are paying for the dress or offer to pay for the dress & want the bride to wear what they want rather than what the bride wants, all I can think is that they are just trying to control the outcome. Opinions are one thing, but it’s a whole other thing when they become puppet master & try to control the bride’s decision by “offering” to pay for the dress.

I have never understood the concept of "pleasing everyone"...Why bring along so many family members and friends in the first place? With a trusted person at your side plus the shop professionals who are experienced, I am willing to bet that any bride can find "her" dress. Then - at the wedding - blow them all away with the beautiful dress you chose. That's what I did.

The fitted dropped waist showed off her figure and that cascade down the left side of the skirt was unique and gave it that little touch of individuality. The third one was a compromise and the bride shouldn't need to compromise on her wedding dress or anything else she wears for that matter. What I would like to say about Granny isn't fit for polite company, so I won't say it. Unlike Granny, I was taught when to hold my tongue and not say anything.

My grandmother was absolutely the matriarch of our family (oldest of 6, she only ended up having 2 grandkids, but all the nieces/nephews/cousins and everyone they loved were all welcomed into her home every holiday as family, and she was a fierce, FIERCE, protector of every one of them) , and I unfortunately will never get to bring her wedding dress shopping with me, her only granddaughter, but I know for certain that no matter what she thought about a dress (and she would have had opinions, she always had strong ones about clothing and hair) she would never insult me or insist hers was the only opinion that mattered, because she would always defer to what I wanted and felt beautiful in.

Many of us in the south are peacemakers, people pleasers, and taught to have good manners. Sometimes this puts us in precarious emotional positions with the family we love. Don't be deceived; however, some of us southern girls can turn into a wildcat and let you know what we think. Sometimes it just takes getting pushed there. This young woman appears around college age which isn't so young anymore. Rarely do I see brides in the south these days getting married before college is complete.

You can see the Grandma enjoys the power she has over that sad bride-to-be.

I have a feeling the real storyline for this episode should have been the 3 generations of family dysfunction being played out. Mom was so upset you know there had to be footage of some kind of family argument for Grandma to say she liked the last dress when it was nothing like what she wanted.
