Regardless of whether you are a fan of one of these teams or not and I am not being a Rays fan, I still have to say that I don't think we have ever seen or likely will see a World Series with this much star power again. Judge, Soto, Stanton, Ohtani, Betts, Freeman, etc. If this series doesn't get you excited, I just don't think you appreciate baseball.
Being a Dodgers fan all of my life, I never paid much attention to John Smoltz. Given how much the Braves crushed the Dodgers in the 90s, some subliminal lack of attention was likely. This summer, an ump described my 11-year olds pitching as Smoltzian: painting the lines with every pitch making it hard to call him and harder for batters to lay off his pitches. Learning Smoltz might be as good as my kid 😜, I noticed his name more. Smoltz has been a great color commentator for the playoffs. As he tracked the NL side, I got to hear almost everything he had to say, his fairness was extremely well balanced. As he described Joe Davis the same way (regular season dodgers play by play commentator and National league post season play by play), this gave me even more respect for Smoltz. Keep commenting with such depth of knowledge throughout the WS and I’ll send you a signed (scribbled?) card of my son, the Smoltzian pitcher.
I am just so excited that my boy, Shohei is getting to finally play in a World Series! If anyone deserves to be in the show-it’s Sho! 😂😂😂! I’m half Japanese so there’s a ridiculous amount of pride that I feel watching that young man do the impossible! He’s genuinely the UNICORN G O A T! Go Dodger Blue !!!!

Growing up in Pittsburgh in the 90s, I remember going against that Braves pitching staff. With pitchers like Smoltz, I thought, why cant we have a pitcher like that? :(
There is no doubt who has the most pressure to win the World Series, its the Yankees !!! They have not even been to the World Series since 2009 !!! Dodgers have been to the World Series 4 times in the last 8 years !!! And won the 2020 World Series !!! ALL PRESSURE ON YANKEES !!

The Cleveland Indians had the best bullpen in the Major Leagues this season, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Yankees. The Yankees may have better starters, but the Dodgers probably have a deeper lineup. This series, at least on paper, is very tough to predict. Now, let's see which team executes the best.

Ben, why are you saying that the Dodgers will need to turn to two bullpen games? Their pitching is lined up for a single BP game in game 4. The reason they needed two in the CS was because Yamamoto pitched game 5 of the DS and the schedule made it so that they needed two BP games. That is not the case in this series. Are you planning on an injury or a planned starting pitcher to fail in a game and that will require them to shift the plan to a BP game effectively ?

To be fair, NYY has a better chance of winning the WS than LAD because, if their bullpens are equal, NYY has more reliable starters, and their offense is no less devastating than LAD's. However, anything can happen is a short series of games like a WS. Let's see what happens.

Doyers will win it all in 6 games. Better bats and bullpen. Manager is also better. Starting pitching is good enough with a super offense and a super bullpen.
Let’s also recall- Ben calling the Dodgers bullpen “Not Good.” It was the bullpen that helped carry this team through all the injuries and all the way to the World Series. You couldn’t have been more wrong!
There's no need for a salary cap but there definitely should be some kind of provision that addressees the greedy owners who purposely choose to keep a very low player payroll while pocketing the revenue sharing and luxury tax distributions but complain about teams like the Yankees and the Dodgers or mets making it impossible for them to compete against because those teams have an advantage financially.
a salary cap is going to require a corresponding salary floor which would bankrupt a signifcant number of the teams without a lot lot more revenue sharing. the top teams would never agree to that b/c they would lose money and they have large existing contracts with players. and mlb contracts can be much longer than other sports…
It is wrong assumption that there will be no blowouts. If Dodgers could do that vs Mets who except for Cole have better pichers than the Yankees, why cannot thay do that again
