I remember watching this on CBS back in the day. I was 13 yrs old and a big Sixers fan. This was a great and very exciting series to watch especially at the time because it was the first time seeing the Showtime play from the Lakers , which made it all the more exciting. I really thought the Sixers were gonna take it but the Lakers were not to be denied. It was the beginning of the Showtime Laker era. Dawkins should have stepped up his rebounding game in this series especially when Kareem went out injured but he never did. Anyways what a fantastic time to be a basketball fan! Oh the 80's what a great decade! 🎈

I think it's funny how they say that today's athlete is so much more stronger, faster and bigger than the ones from the 80's and 90's. Most of today's NBA players look like twigs. Kevin Durant is not stronger or bigger than these guys, what I dip shit thing to say about today's athlete is stronger, bigger and faster, whatever. Shaq, Olajuwon, Barkley, Robinson, Malone, would mow right through a lot of the today's NBA players.

The average player is bigger, stronger and faster than those of this era. But the elite players are timeless, and would hang with anyone today. Keep in mind also, if the elite players of back then were here, in their prime, today, they too would have access to the modern technology today's athlete's do. Last, if there was a guy you didn't screw around with back then, today's players damn sure wouldn't be able to screw with them.
@gabrielw7773
@gabrielw7773 2 года назад
@@josephD32 The average super star in the NBA today isn't even close to the average size and strength of the elites in the 80's and 90's. The only one is Lebron. Durant, Harden, Curry, Anthony Davis, Chris Paul probably represent the average super star today and are basically the same size as Magic, Bird, Shaq, Perish etc. In fact they were bigger back then. It's been proven the league is getting smaller. A corn bread fed football player growing up on the farm is much stronger than these techlogical advanced athletes today. 20 years or so isn't a generational gap. Maybe if you compare to the 1800's but not 20-30 years. They are the same athletically. Kids today also are emotionally weaker as well growing up in a participation trophy era.

@haroldmccoy6748
@haroldmccoy6748 2 года назад
I respectfully disagree ,the element of the 3 pointer elevates the options available for offenses to exploit slower ,less athletic defenders who cannot adequately manuver quick enough to defend beyond the paint ,the increase of the shot as a validated weapon isn't the problem ,it's opposing coaches not countering the strategy with proficient low post and mid range attacks that are a natural higher pct shot that literally forces predominant 3 point shouting teams to alter it's scheme because they can't manufacture enough points to over come the far higher pct scoring if the mud to low post scoring opponent . The last two NBA champs actually weren't highly proficient from the 3 arc but were strong below the 3 point line . Great athleticism is still rampant inthe NBA despite the fancy of 3 point shooting , low post participation is also still a active option that's utilized ,the 3 has actually improved the fundamental shooting skills of abundance of players moreso.then.any other decade , which is a far better sight then watching guys clunking wide open ten footers ,no lead is practically safe ,which makes for far more entertaining contests from a competitive and NBA market stand point .I concur too this extent i dislike the disdainment of bigs not going down low when matchups dictate a obvious size advantage at various times , as oppose to them going out to the arc are launching misses ,but overall.the game has evolved quite well with exception.to.players taking notion of exploiting size and deficient defensive abilities of opponents inthe post a little more then present ,but a throw back exsclusively to the Knicks Heat ,era when behemoths banged 4 ft from the rim and guys got pummeled if they dated venture inside the paint off the dribble isn't a declaration of elite defensive skill or offensive personel illustrating multifaceted skill to buffer such tactics ,and I'm a old 80's Bad Boy Pistons fan stating this .

@@haroldmccoy6748 man your answer was absolutely fantastic. I will review my ideas on that. I am Brazilian,.perhaps you will remember in 1987 when Brazil won against the USA at the pan games.
