@@rainychristmas No. Nothing about that is Canon at all. Lalo only derogatorily refers to Gus's friend as his "boyfriend". Vince Gilligan has neither confirmed nor denied it. He basically said it's up to the viewer, I believe. I don't know why people have this insane obsession with turning everyone and everything gay now a days. Dumbledore is gay. Obama is gay. Obi wan is gay. My dog is gay. It's all canon, man. Totally !
@@1994mrmysteryman Idk man. I don’t care what you think about their relationship, but ya’ll are always so pressed when the possibly of a lovers dynamic is mentioned. Sounds like a fat cope tbh. Like how does it change Gus’ character if he is? Either way, I can believe they were, and you don’t have to so. 🫡
He makes sure everything is in order, takes the risk and cares enough to spend thousands and thousands, probably even millions on high end equipment, protective suits and masks for his workers, a true boss
Breaking Bad has alot of amazing opening sequence but i agree this has to take the cake. The transitions, the music and transition to the intro is just so damn good.
“But you just had to blow it all up. You, and your pride and your ego, you just had to be the man. If you’d done your job, known your place, we’d all be fine right now”
The line "old ways are still better and alive" is perfection considering Walt switched from a pseudo cook to P2P cook which was considered 'old-biker' meth.
Bro the precursor does not matter as long as you separate the enantiomers. You can use D-tartaric acid to septate the S enantiomer of methamphetamine from a P2P cook. Walt actually talks about "how can our product be enantiomerically pure " in the episode box cutter. Old meth is not better. Dextro Meth is. The right handed isomer. Walter knows this and seperates the D-meth. It's more dopaminergic and more CNS activity and less adrenaline. Adrenaline is bad and uncomfortable and causes comedown. So yeah precursor doesn't matter, enantiomers do.
@@dude7266 that's not the point, your were rude to the OC saying that because Vince Gilligan was one of the most talanted directors, its was super "fucking" obvious the advertisement was above average. I mearly pointed out that just because you are a good director, it does not mean you can make good advertisements, similer to how a football player might not be able to play basketball well. Basically I am saying that just because BB has amazing directors, does not mean that they are inherently amazing advertisers and the advertisement in this video is all the more surprising because of this.
@@nikolaiandre5751 people specialise into certain work niches, writers are no different. Some may write novels or movies, shows and yes, some get paid handsomely to make advertisements.
Song is “veneno” by chuy flores btw. Ever since I first saw the show and heard that song I knew I had to find it but hard a hard time doing it. Hope this helps anyone who finds this video
it did work for several years, he was already smuggling coke/meth with the same system long before he met Walt, that's why Don Eladio calls him "the master of distribution"
This show is exactly why I hate humans, if all of them ego maniacs and greedy fucks had their ego and greediness in check, everyone would be millionaire and would have no problems.
Yeah, because apparently all it takes is for him to read a certain book during the ONE time Heisenberg returned to being Walter White. Not the expensive cars. Not the impulse buying of a car wash. Not even Walter admitting to owning half a million dollars in his bag. On any given episode, Hank is either the best DEA agent in America, or the worst.
@@marsayde1237 Yeah and it's all because he never really expected Walt to be the kind of guy who would do that. On top of that, Walt also lied about gambling too lol
As someone who works as a QC Scientist in the biopharma industry, I have to say that Gus' policies of having his staff wear the full gowning suits with gloves while packaging the meth is exquisite.
I mean its more then that. Its perfect for safety reasons and since meth is water soluble one wouldn't want their skin to get infected by a possibly toxic P2P cook.
@@MrJack1992 yeah, but your average meth cook doesn't give a crap about safety. Gus is distinguished here by how he handles the meth industry like he would a normal business.
@@cleitonfelipe2092 yeah cause the whole time they're waiting for the seasons to come out, they're filming and editing which takes a very long time. writing and directing is all done
Gus' Drug Empire was probably the most organized, most well thought out empire out of all the others. Listen to how the music and the movement in the labs move so rhythmically, to the beat, like a machine, like clockwork. 1:04 The creaking of the dolly, steady to the beat 1:10 The closing of the first box 1:13 The scooping and pouring of crystal into the plastic scoopers (most notably at 1:24 when they can be heard multiples times at certain intervals) 1:33 The squelchy sound of the bags being dipped into the fry batter 1:38 The most famous little addition, the hammer being pounded to seal the buckets 1:44 The UV light being passed over twice 2:05 The trucks brakes being released twice on beat 2:11 And finally the 3 trucks passing by
Also note how Walter closing the meth containers was the only thing that was not done to the beat at all - in fact, the only mistake shown in that entire production chain was him failing to close a box fully
all meth and shit aside, i’ll guarantee you his uncles really were the greatest at making chicken. glad Gus was able to carry out the tradition with the BOMB chicken
I don’t think many people have noticed this so i’m going to point it out. “Yes, the old ways are still best at Los Pollos Hermanos”. Talking about chicken AND meth. Remember back to when Hank says Walt is cooking old school by doing a methlamene cook.
Well, I even had Los Pollos chicken at shopping mall in the center of Moscow once in 2016, but it got replaced by other franchines in just a year or two. Chicken was good but couldn't compete with KFC nearby.
@@suburbanhoodunit6160 its obviously a joke lmao but it didnt really make a lot of sense since it had nothing to do with kentucky, and pretty much nothing to do with crack...
You would need too many people who reliably keep silent no matter what. That does not exist in the real world. DEA and other police forces know about drug rings pretty fast because they can trace from the consumers to the dealerd to the packers. This could work for a while but it would go down inside a couple of years guaranteed.
I think this is one of the few times that the camera man was proven as an actual person and not a cloud recording the whole breaking bad series. At 1:52 you can see the camera being a unit and pushing the plastic flaps rather than walk through it
Thought I recorded the wrong program when this episode first started. My favorite BB intro scene ever. The familiar phony corporate babble transitions to the evil deeds behind the facade. The production line, the nuts and bolts of the operation, efficient with a rhythm as smooth as clockwork. A story told with pictures, not a word of dialog or explanation necessary. Now we understand. Awesome - gives me chills every time!
Visual storytelling at it’s finest. Gus isn’t even present in the shots but his meticulous and efficient nature seeps into each piece of distribution, essentially turning the lab into an extension of Gus himself. You also get a visual aid to understand just how massive the absurd amount of meth he’s moving is. Truckloads headed out every day across the southwest.
I remember when I first watched this, I paused the episode, got my ass up to the nearest KFC, came back and continued watching whilst indulging on some fried chicken.
I always thought that Gus chose guys with a criminal past. Maybe he put the bail down for some of them or helped smuggle them across the border. At any way, I think all his trusted people are somehow in his debt.
V you gotta watch BCS, it’s a really well done extension of the BB series. It gives a lot of background information on a lot of the characters from BB, like the Salamanca brothers, how Gus began his operations, and how Jimmy McGill becomes Saul Goodman
The blue meth was a p2p solution, hank called it old school biker meth made by the biker gangs from the 80’s And he said all the cooks he knew were either dead or still in prison.
In the little village where it was born, life moved at a slower pace. Yet felt all the richer for it. There, my two uncles were known far and wide for their delicious cooking. They season their zesty chicken, using only the freshest herbs and spices. People call them Los Pollos Hermanos: The chicken brothers. Today we carry on their tradition in a manner that would make my uncles proud. The finest ingredients are brought together with love and care, then slow cooked to perfection. Yes, the old ways are still best at Los Pollos Hermanos. But don't take my word for it. One taste, and you'll know.
@@dxsolate im assuming because of how gus is covered by shadows and you can only really make out a silhouette, they do lighting tricks like this with Gus specifically a lot and its really cool considering he lives his life in the shadows. Looks like hes just watching his fast food business to a normal person, but the audience knows something more sinister is going on.
watching scenes like this one make me wish i could wipe my memory of breaking bad so i can experience all the brilliance for the first time again. this is such a simple scene but the music, the editing, the whole style is next level good
Everything about this scene this perfection. You don't get tired of watching this. It's mesmerizing. The dramatic irony that us the commercial itself, the scope of the operation, even the hammers sealing the buckets are *in tune of the fucking music!*
I work for a place and the parent company (CRH) turns over 68 BILLION EURO a year. We handle sharp and jagged steel and couldn't get any new gloves for 10 weeks straight. They have a standing order for fruit for employees which 90% gets THROWN OUT and a standing order for enough milk to have a bath in or make a few thousand coffees a week (for like 12 people). But no damn gloves. I haven't had any my size since bloody November.
@@OffGridInvestor That sucks, I hope things get better there! In the case of the video I suppose the gloves are to protect the drugs instead of the employees.

This whole scene is so perfect. The shot composition, the slightly sinister mood combined with the upbeat music. The way the beat is synchronised to what's happening. What a great show.
even though I've seen this show twice it still feels wrong to watch these clips. like I'm spoiling the experience even though I know what's gonna happen.
"Mr. Fring, I have one question about Los Pollos Hermanos, if you don't mind me asking..." "Not at all. What's on your mind?" "If all our chicken is slow roasted, how come we got so many cases of fry batter?" *gunshot*
I think they served roasted and fried chicken, it's a very common thing here in mexico gettin fried or roasted chicken in the same place I see myself out
@@PlasticEel i didnt see any roaster in Pollos' instalation, like in Mexico. They overuse the concept of fresh and slow cooked methods. But then have this massive Fried Batter distribution... Mmm... Seems suspicious
Perhaps they slow roast the chicken at first with the ingredients before using the fry batter. That way the flavor gets locked in, not just on the outside. Flavor inside and outside. That would make for some quality chicken, actually. Because usually when you lose the skin you lose the flavor. KFC also does both grilled and fried chicken though, so they could do that. Just like Gordon Ramsay says: "Season season season."
@@MercedesBenzRollsRoyceAudi Awesome!! Just got a cup and now I just need the hat. Probably gonna skip the apron and RU-vid never showed me this notification. I just came back to this video and saw your reply.
@@fierywolverine5044 No, but Vince admitted that he and his team of writers did not always plan season ahead. The name 'Madrigal Electromotive' was probably a spontaneous filler name they inserted at the bottom of the ad, to make it look more real. Then in season 5, when they wanted to introduce the parent company of Los Pollos into the show's plot, they used 'Madrigal'. What's more impressive than planning ahead is how good the writers actually are at revisiting older elements in the show and using them to maximum efficiency later on.
One of my favorite scenes. The parallelism of the chicken and meth, the perfect soundtrack, and showing the operation they have going in a moment where it's all going smoothly.
Yep and not to mention how proud gus was of what he built , he displayed it while watching trucks leave , looking at them and feeling proud as they leave
Fring is by far my favorite character in the whole series, I don't care what anybody says:) I also like Mike Ehrmantraut, the Cousins, and of course Heisenberg.
***** I hope they intertwine, Saul knew Mike more than we know and who knows when Gus met Mike, but Gus was a big shot in Chile probably a General under Pinochet since Hector referred to the Chicken Man as a Genneralissimo (chilean military title) i bet BCS will start lighthearted and will end dark like BB.
***** Don't forget the cartel Don spared Gus because he says he know who he is and that he needs to remember he's not in Chile anymore, which just shows that Gus was some kind of bigshot in chile
Just look at 1:38 they KNOW how to sync stuff well only arousing my suspicions that they deliberately place the openings such that they too sudden like just 2:15
