The people of Losap Island
The last island in the outer islands that I have longed to visit is Losap Island (Part 2). In the first half of the video, we went to Rawalei Island, which is next to Losap Island.
《About the monument》
The monument "Kyoto Imperial University Solar Eclipse Observation Spot" that we saw on the way was built in 1934, just like the eclipse observation monument in part 1. The observation team was divided into two groups, one for Losap and the other for Rawalei. The documents from the time of the observation refer to the islands of Losap and "Lewel" but according to the local people, Lewel is an island further away from the mangrove bay where has the pounded breadfruit story in the video is told, and the monument of Kyoto Imperial University is on Rawalei. The Kyoto Imperial University observation team conducted observations at Rawalei together with the Hydrographic Department of the Navy led by Commander Akiyoshi (at that time) and observation teams from the United States.
《About the story of Mangrove Bay》
In the video, Angela said she would tell me the details of the story later. I was able to hear the story from her later. However, Madleen, a female teacher at Losap Elementary School who appeared in the part 1 of the video, informed me that she had heard another story that was different from the one Angela told me and that she would ask the elders which one was correct. Therefore, I have decided to hold off on inserting the story into this video. If I eventually find out, I may make a video. (There is a possibility that I may not find out.)
