A total opposite of when toji went to see kid gojo. Wanting to see what the fuss was all about just to end up being acknowledged by the six eyes, igniting his inferiority complex. A nice parallel.
@@luizhenriqueferreirasouza8909 Yeah, his inferiority complex was a long draw thing due his upbringing that was tons worse than Maki's. When fighting Geto he refers to himself as an "invisible man" on being undetected by sorcerers, meaning he must of taken pride of that in the past when he was with the zenin, something of his own that made him unique in an environment that absolutely dispised and was ashamed of his existence. Now imagine if that taken from him just by some kid with special eyes. As if the peak of jujutsu looking down on him. I'd say that what would of ignited his complex as that is the encounter he remembers the most. But that just what I think, aka headcannon.
One of the most memorable panels in the entire manga. Naoya was born talented and full of himself and getting ready to look down on the alleged loser and worthless Zenin with 0 cursed energy. When he finally saw Toji he shit his pants as Toji's eyes were that of an absolute beast rather than a loser. Toji's gaze forever haunted Naoya
@@firstnamelastname7298I don't think Naoya was the only one that acknowledged Toji strength, tho Naoya would like that to be true. In the perfect preparation arc(or Maki going full itachi arc) one of the hei, Ranta, stated himself that Toji would of eradicated the whole clan in any moment if he wished so in the past. And Maki's father almost shitted his pants just at seeing Maki resembling Toji. They came to acknowledge his strength out of silent fear and tension most likely.
It sucks that Toji died so early in the story. He was honestly one of the coolest characters that didn't even need that much screen time. For him to be loved by the community.
@ecilion3047 Yup there was a comment on another video (Toji vs Dagon) I liked that went something like "This man's muscle memory is just IM HIM". To clarify for those not in the know toji was fighting on autopilot for spoiler reasons.
I feel like Toji's story alone could have been written as some protagonist level stuff. The man with zero cursed energy making a way in a world of sorcerers.
i've always wonder why he didn't do that? maybe the clan abused him too much to go through with the plan, maki left them much earlier than he did so the clan have less influence on her compare to toji. it is a good question though.
@@habun_ii he planned to but threw it all away after he got a wife and changed his family name after her. He mellowed out considerably, but later abandoned it all after his wife died so he let the zenin clan live on after her death only so that his son could get sold to them and grow up there
He basically developed the ideology that he’d never use his skills if he wasn’t being paid.. and after getting married he prolly cast all probable Ill feelings towards the clan away… And after having megumi. He knew he might be able to sell him off to the clan
Only reason why the Zenin made it this far was because of Toji not giving a damn. The manga pretty much said that, if Toji wanted, he could’ve annihilated the Zenin clan off the planet. In other words, if Toji became vengeful, no more Zenin.
@@romanortiz1744who told you that? I've read the entire manga and didn't found any backstory about Toji while he still a "zen'in". I only know that he's a blacksheep of the clan
The more I think about it, the more I realize how depressing Toji’s character is. His whole life was him trying to prove to the jujutsu world, especially his own clan, that he was strong without cursed energy. Imagine living a life where you’re not even exiled but just forgotten or ridiculed by your family because you lack what they have. He had a son and sold him because of his own inferior complex of needing to prove himself constantly and because he believed it was better for Megumi. The sad fact was that he and Maki grew up in similar conditions but he didn’t have somebody like Gojo in his life who could help him. He was just alone and tried so desperately not to be in a sense of approval.
I believe it is stated that they didn't just leave him out, they outright tried to kill him through his training, but he survived. What is particularly sad about this scene is that it shows the folly of trying to "win over" the Zen'in clan. They only respected/feared Toji because of the trials they put him through, and they only put him through those trials because they hated him. Toji was truly an outcast as it didn't matter what he did, he was always an object of disgust or fear.
@Mooda224 The whole thing behind Toji is subjective to everyone with their own grasp of his character to a certain point, but his excessive pride was definitely followed by his massive insecurity of not having cursed energy. It was revealed when he got resurrected, he killed sorcerers because of the Zenin clan rejecting him. They knew he was strong, but they didn't care because he had 0 cursed energy.
@@cskyla1844 didnt he just go around killing to prove he was strong? Not because he necessarily hated them even tho he did? Because he went after dagon before megumi even tho megumi using mahoraga is more powerful?
Well he had his wife. He found some happiness there at least. But alas!!! Misfortune ganged up on toji and his wife died and toji lost all his stability. Gege fcked his entire life from birth till his death. Not a moment of peace for my goat.
Toji is literally one of the most important characters in all of jujutsu kaisen He was responsible for making Gojo stronger, he made geto a villain, He's Megumi's father, literally toji was so good that they took out toji 2 Maki is also super important because of toji, he made more sense of the heavenly restrictions He is literally one of the most important characters in jujutsu kaisen
The weakest zenin clan member almost took down the god of jujutsu sorcery at the time Meanwhile the strongest zenin clan member died to an octopus, that the weakest member of the zenin clan took out immediately
I think it's better that we don't have his full basckstory so we have to fill the holes in ourselves. It's kind of the reason I personally hope we never get Sukuna's backstory because it doesn't even matter to Sukuna himself
@@Dstryrrto fill in you actually have to know something about him we dont know shit about him besides some stuff about his childhood and then he became a bad ass sorcerer killer
For some reason this panel shows me how terrible they treated Toji. The mundane look in his eyes just shows the shit he had to go through in Zenin clan
it's crazy how he is the strongest one and could easily kill every single person in his clan, and they still treat him like that. it kind of piss me off wondering why he didn't just do it
@@Dave_of_Mordor It doesn't matter to him. He doesn't care about revenge or vengeance, as he only takes his time for himself. He basically doesn't find satisfaction bullying the weak unless there is a reward for it, like he doesn't mess with anyone except for Gojo because he wanted to reaffirm his position/pride.
"But there was also a failure in the Zen'in clan, a man that didn't have an ounce of cursed energy. I wondered how disheartened a man he would be, I wondered what sort of miserable face he would have."
curious how in the Zenin clan they despise and marginalize members who lack energy malevolent even though members born without malevolent energy are the most powerful
Toji was actually a great father he sold him to the zenin clan beacuse he thought it would be a better life for megumi. But when he realised he was wrong he told gojo to save megumi from being sold to zenin clan. And he even bothered coming back from dead and finding megumi to find out if he is sold or not and then killing himself so he wont go crazy and then kill megumi.
There is a very large middle ground between abysmal father and "great father" that Toji likely occupies. He was not a "great father" by any stretch of the imagination because he did not have the will to work on himself in order to give Megumi a dad.
that is such a hard cope i honestly thought you were joking😂 dudes so unredeemable it’s honestly baffling. like bro his wife’s last statement was entrusting megumi to him and he literally sold bro for money💀.
@@luvnight7274 he didn't consider himself to be a good father, and thought he couldn't provide for him, it's unquestionable that he's done bad things, however we are talking about him as a father
@@hell1942 yea. selling your son off to an evil clan is being a bad father dude... who cares what his reasoning was, that’s not an excuse. especially when ur dead wife that you apparently loved entrusted him to you. like bro we’re really arguing this when the guy forgot his own son even existed for a lil while lmao. like shit i would’ve said middle ground too if he just left megumi alone or some shit. BUT HE SOLD BRO AND SAID NOTHING MATTERS ANYMORE😂😂. i don’t know how it’s even an argument that he’s an abysmal father.
@@luvnight7274 it was evil to him because he had no strength, however megumi had strength so he had reason to believe he wouldn't be mistreated like toji was, and would actually live a comfortable life due to his technique Like I said he didn't consider himself capable of raising a child, believed he would have a better life than he could provide I'm afraid there have been cases where parents forced themselves to raise a child they didn't think they could/ didn't want to, and it didn't end well for the child
Kid looked at Toji and knew his whole world was a lie igniting his inferiority complex. Toji tried to do the same with Gojo, and it had the same result.
Jjk has 47 episodes + movie. Toji only appeared in not even 7 of them. And his total screentime barely amounts to 2 full ep. He is still one of the most loved characters. He is still the character who has the most impact on story. He is still the best written jjk character for me. He is still the character with best conclusion. Because his story shows reality. Not everyone gets a happy ending. Not everyone always walks on right path. Not everyone's story ends without any regrets. Not everyone gets a chance to correct those regrets (toji got one chance and he used it perfectly). Toji made a lot of mistakes just like lot of people do. Thats why he is so fcking well written with the best conclusion.
What he was saying is actually true. After witnessing toji cooking dagon in his own domain maki realise that she has the potential to be like him a monster with no cursed energy. In her battle against cursed naoya she always ask the question of "what's the difference between me and him" or "if its that man, he would've deflected even at that speed" further implying that she DID look up to him even tho doesn't know him.
Seriously one my favorite jjk panels to date, this would be my ranking: 1. Toji, the black sheep 2. Yūji walking against Sukuna 3. 👖 4. "So, where is Sukuna?" 5. 3x Domain Expansion!!! 6. Kashimo introduction 7. Sukuna👉🏼👈🏼*Domain Expansion*🤞🏼Gojo 8. Sukuna chomping on Hana 9. Yūji, Maki and Sukuna running 10. Sukunas flame arrow
Someone theorise that heavenly restriction and shadow manipulation was supposed to be used to tame Mahoraga, because Mahoraga senses you out by tracking your CE, but since people with heavenly restrictions don't have any they could attack Mahoraga without it adapting to their attacks because you're invisible to its eyes, while the shadow manipulate person just has to stay alive until Mahoraga dies
You cannot tame Mahoraga if anyone else aside from the Ten Shadows sorcerer participates in the ritual. Megumi said that first time he summoned Mahoraga.
