Sometimes I take the plug out if it’s wet take lighter burn the tip of the plug until it goes out then put the plug back in usually works check for spark and try new plug too go to stock settings on carb
Reminds me of my old Plymouth. The needle valve would stick open and flood it out, so I’d give a rap on the side of the carb bowl, then hold the throttle wide open and crank it. Be back on the road in 2 minutes 😂 But I know, that’s a different needle than the mixture needles you’re twisting here. That was the float valve on the inlet, and I don’t imagine that has one of those
Once they are flooded out, it will take it a minute to burn out the gas that thas accumulated in the case. So adjusting the needles may be a futile thing as once the excess fuel is burned out, you'll need to readjust. But for the first 5 plus tanks, you'll find you need to adjust the needles as the motor wears in a little more.
Great content vid .......I know that this vid is old , if it's flooded the way how I cleared it out of the motor on my 5t , I disconnected the fuel lines so that it doesn't keep taking fuel in that was causing it to flood when i pull start it , once you disconnect the lines the motor is still gonna have fuel in it so once you pull start it it'll crank over and burn out any remaining fuel in it and the motor will shut off since it has nothing left to conbust , then you can reconnect the fuel line and it should work fine .......hope it helps anyone that goes thro this
I was eyeing the jato 3.3 back in the day and as I did my research (a lot of research) i figured out nitro was not for me. still love to watch you wrench on them though. When is High desert hobbies gonna loan you a sledge for review?? id love to see the earl moorhead take on it :) Happy RC'ing
Ha. I see you figured it out after I typed my comments. funny. Start back to stock needle settings. 1 1/4 out on L and 1 1/2 in H. then Readjust. Aftera few months the gas may be bad as well (absorbed water out of the air as gas is hygroscopic).
I was thinking of getting into gas but think ill stick to electric. Reminds me of the days i was little trying to start the mower. Appreciate your patience Earl, i dont think i would have been able to stay that calm. Thanks for the video
when i store my 5th scales for longer then a week or so i always drain fuel from tank and carb never let fuel sit in carb or tank i always clean the air filters and deap clean the chasis u definatly need to re set your carb linkage and set your end points u can hear the servo buzzing allot thats not good to have cant wait to see you rip the 5t some more i love mine u gave me an idea for my next live feed or vid
This is the exact reason I don't own anything gas or nitro. Had a 5T with O'Neill brothers motor, and Turtle Racing just about everything else. This video sums up what ownership experience was like. This video makes me wanna hug my Infraction and Mojave. Keep it up Earl. Make sure you dust my Limitless.
EARL….I leave the fuel in mine also,,,but I make it a point to at least once a month to fire it ,,,sometimes even sooner,,,,just like I do my lawn equipment,,,no issues🇺🇸🚘👈
@@earlmoorhead5555 …my lawn equipment uses the Same mix as the rc nitros. Sometimes 50/50…my stuff doesn’t have oil injection…..I’ve got a plane that has a weed whacked motor ….I just start them on the off season to prevent buildup. I’ve done it this way for years with no fuel issues at all…I do add marvel mystery oil also….just sayin’….
How many runs do you have on the tires on that orange x-maxx on the shelf ? It might be the dirt on them but the look pretty wore already. How are they holding up for you ?
This is kinda why i have stuck to electric all this time and this is what i'm scared of if i get a gas or nitro RC. I still like the 5ive t but i don't want to deal with the noise and maintenance of a gas motor but i found on fearless RC they have a 5ive t 1.0 clone roller on their site and i can do an electric conversion to it for a little more than an official 5ive T 2.0 gas.
Reminds me of my Stihl chainsaw. Im some glad i got rid of it. My Sachs Dolmar is a tank you could leave fuel in it all summer and still fire it up in a few pulls. What about getting a 4 stroke for it instead? Love your videos brother keep em coming.
EARL...... you need to put duct tape or similar over the outside of the outer wears to the back of the air filter box, so half the tape is on the outerwear and the other half stuck to the filter box, dirt gets between the elastic on the outer wear and black filter box and messes up your filter. with the tape on it you can run 10 plus tanks and it will still be clean on the inside DONT COVER THE BREATHABLE HOLES JUST STICK THE BACK DOWN ALL AROUND
Yes I’ll sand blast the old plug keep it as a spare I truly thought I drained it and ran it dry but I washed it and forgot to refire it after I drained it 💯🤷🏻♂️🤪🤪
@@earlmoorhead5555 my carb needs some work done on it too. That take a trip to my LHS. He is a older version of you,he can fix any thing RC. Have you ordered the new Traxxas Sledge? I'll be waiting for your review of that. $800
Today I have the same problem. The engine was stop after 20 minutes run. I can't start engine now. What is the problem. I buy this car one month ago. I just drive him 30 minut at all.
I am in the same boat. I bought a brand new Lois T5. After 15 runs it doesn’t start anymore. I clean the carburetor, new plug and nada. I took it to local shop they said I need a new carburetor, spark plug and stator. They said it will be cheaper to get new engine. Total 339. Are you kidding me. I sent an email to Horizon Hobby since I bought it there. They told me they are sorry and they can offer e 10% off on my next purchase. Now I have a 1700k RC car sitting in the garage.
Hey Earl. Got that Micro Pico Shut off switch I mentioned in your other Losi vid. LMK if you'd like it and I'll get it sent out to you. Simple setup. Wire the black and red wire to your manual engine kill switch, and plug the other side into your RX aux channel. Set the aux channel u for 2 way operation,. one way is on, the other is off.
@@nstewart636 steering and suspension is just set up right the dbxle platform has great steering one way and terrible steering the other way it’s the whole reason I never bought the 2.0 gas
Always soak your air filters in gasoline or some other abrasive liquid, dipping the filters in water will not do anything...come man are you serious? water?..There are Oils in the filters, water will not help with oils......I also noticed you are cranking that pull start about 80 times....If she don't start after 3-6 pulls...STOP...Don't keep yanking on that pullstart so many times and check spark / fuel mixture and the carb settings.... is this your first 5th scale?
Yep. This guy clearly doesn’t have much experience w 2 strokes. He pulled too many times with the choke on to start, and then kept trying the same thing without actually doing anything to fix it. The needles aren’t flooding your engine… now when you do fix the real issue your needle will be messed up. This guy is a noob.
