I am almost 49 and just been in the hobby 3 weeks.... I Started with a brushless stock 2wd Slash, (2) 3S batteries and have it pretty heavily ( don't ask my wife) tastefully upgraded, it's getting close to where I want it and I have been researching and watching videos for my next one to go with is this Losi. Thanks for the video it helped cement this as my next purchase, now how to get to saving pennies, tough when I am not working and this is a tough hobby for a disabled unemployed man so my purchases have to be smart ones so thanks for the video brother , HAPPY BASHING!!!!!!
@Mikes RC Garage You know, this was my second time ever running at the beach. First was on a 2WD Slash converted to a Pro-lins SC buggy. Ton of fun but to get a beast like this out, WHOA! This is where it's at. Been meaning to add drone footage to my videos for years but always fearful of the something happening since it's just me filming. This was with my Mavic Mini and it was so stable.
@@ReadySetRC Heck yeah bro I've run several buggies in the sand with paddles over the years one draw back is it wears things out! I've run my 1/5scale HPI in the dunes and it's a blast! Very cool!
Hi, amazing video, after running on the beach, what cleaning do you do? pressurized air, water, brush, lubricate everything at the end? Is the sand dangerous? any special advice? thanks
@z Thank you! Beach or not I usually do a pretty extensive cleaning of my RC's. If you get a chance here is the link to the video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3tKye0oROSQ.html.
How was the rust afterwards? I had my xmaxx at the ocean for 1 trip and even with a good rinse and blow with my strong air compressor I still had a ton of rusty screws I had to replace. It's so much fun but man not sure its worth the clean up. Next time I'll soak the car in WD40 first and get one of those nets for the body! Killer video btw it makes me wanna go rip and its been a while.
@Evergreen85 Thanks! Really appreciate that👍 Funny enough not much rust even as of today. Only signs of rust is some spots on the driveshafts. My biggest issue was the sand. After all these years still finding sand in there😆
If you only run paddles on the rear you should try to disconnect the power to the front slicer wheels. Would be interesting to see how it performs. Sweet vid!
4WD is more fun on the track and 2WD is more fun in sand IMO, but the real question is whether or not it’s worth bothering with changing it. They should have a cheaper 2WD version available. It would be lighter in the front and pull wheelies more easily on less power.
Always wanted to take my RCs to the beach, just got a new X Maxx that is pretty easy to take apart and clean so I'm seriously considering it. I am thinking of getting one of these DBXL 2.0s so my question is how difficult is it to take a part and clean because it looks a little more complicated in design compared to the X Maxx
@apostolos vasilas Thank you! These are two PowerHobby 4S 100C 6500Mah. Some where around 15 minutes. With the sand there is alot of resistance so run time will shorten a bit.
I just ordered my DBXLE. Can you tell me what you have for tires in there? This is the set up I want. We have amazing dunes here in utah and this is where it will be doing it’s running. Thanks!
@Mike’s Blue Sky Productions Utah Congrats on the purchase. These are the Losi Scoops Paddle Tireswww.horizonhobby.com/product/scoops-paddle-tires-2-dbxl-e-2.0/LOS45034.html on the rear and the Slicers Rib Tire on the front www.horizonhobby.com/product/slicers-rib-tire-2-dbxl-e-2.0/LOS45035.html . The foam and the bead are a bit of a hassle to get on an off so I would suggest getting a spare set of foams and wheels for the paddles.
@@ReadySetRC Thanks for all the info. Yeah I’ve dealt with bead locks. I do a lot of the RC rock crawling. So I understand how much “” fun the bead locks are. LOL
@@mikesblueskyproductionsuta7634 Oh no, I have trail trucks with bead locks as well. This is SPECIAL😊 Because of the foam it's a bit of a fight to lineup the bead. I remember the paddles wasn't too hard but when I tried to get the stock tires back on that was the worse. I think my knuckles are still torn up🤣
@Shawn Johnson I wish😂 It's a very painful process. I did it once an it was so painful doing it I bought another set of wheels to never swap them out again. Lining them up ion the beadlock is where it gets dicey😤
@@RCKYOTA Complete tear through or just a chunk? For a chuck you should be good. I believe RC Guy Garage used hairspray for the foams to go over smoother. I thought I saw that on one of his videos. He was putting the original tires back on if I remember correctly.
@En Lightened Thanks you, much appreciated👍👍 Everything is straight out of the box except the tires on this. High C rated batteries will give you this performance.
Ready Set RC yea i am worried about even trying it, I’m picking the car up Saturday and I’ll be driving on the beach Monday with my girl and i get bored so i thought of bringing it.
@@Djreversal Super fun! I drove mine in the winter at the beach so I was unable to clean it the way an wanted. Drive shafts caught the worst of it. You are going to love it out there.
@Ant - I can do that. The next video for this RC is the finally thoughts which I just finished but the next video I do on the RC will be a comparison with this and the SRR. I'll be honest, this blow it out on performance. I know there is a serious price jump between the two but this is a true 5th built like a true 5th scale.
@@ReadySetRC That would be awesome man! I really appreciate it if you could. Doesn't have to be an outdoor bash. Just a side by side comparison talk if that's ok? I thought this might be better ,and you're right there is a big price jump between the two, however it would be nice to hear if you think the extra cost is worth it it for the Losi DBXL-E 2.0 or if the Losi SRR is better bang for the buck?
@@AK-hv6wv Don't do it! I got a second set of wheels. Always keep a separate set. It is a beast to get them on and off the wheels. The beadlock alone will drive you crazy🤣
@Dannie Vick There is no true way to protect the ESC from sand with out causing it to overheat. What I do after all runs I give my RC's a once over with the air compressor, then wash them down, then hit it with air again, and lastly lube them up with deep creep. In short I clean them up after every run😊
@Scale Modellers Worldwide I have a feeling Losi released the slicers because of the significant decrease in run time you would get on this by using paddles on the front and rear. This is a very heavy beast. I enjoyed it with this configuration. Surprising enough run time was slightly longer than where I normally run it without the sand setup.
