I dont think Helen Mirren can make a bad movie.She was exceptional here teeming up with Beau Bridges,what a team.I loved the story.So much passion and feeling and craziness,emotions running awry,but most of all you got to feel the love for life,for living.I also loved the spectacular scenery.Good movie.Thanks for screening❤

I don't think so. I think it is more about wanting to feel alive. For many of us, that is not going backwards to our youth. When I was in my 20s I was in, and out of psych. wards, barely alive. I did the hard yards with therapy, and now I am more alive, and life is richer, the older and more experience I get. Even though I am physically sicker. I know many people who enjoy being themselves, and therefore their quality of life, more in their maturity. 😊

I've seen over 5,000 movies over the past almost 50 years, from all over the world from the early silent era to the present. It gets harder and harder to impress me, but I just saw this film today and I was pleasantly surprised. What an incredible directorial debut by Kevin Bacon, score by his brother, story, cinematography, setting and, without a doubt, the acting of Helen Mirren and Kyra Sedgwick. So much "truth" and humanity communicated without words, sometimes just a look. All cinematic aspects worked well together.

Why did he bring a young, beautiful "helper" in his house without his wife's input? He's been treating his wife like a child or a nut cake all along . That's why she had a nervous breakdown in the first place.He is condescending and the oldest son is following his example and is equally cruel to his mother.. Coupled with how he refers to his wife with Elizabeth. As if Elizabeth is his wife. No wonder his wife is angry. Who wouldn't be? Him leaving was the best thing for her sanity, Thank goodness she was able to regain her well-being.

One needed a mother that has never had, the other needed understanding and freedom from the narrowed society and daily routine, a husband needed a loving wife, and children needed firm and solid grounds at home with both parents loving and understanding each other. But above all that every one of them needs God to find themselves, to bring their broken hearts together, to fill up all their needs, heal the wounds so they can find peace to be able to live, cherish and grow.

That is one of the most unusually worded comments I have read. 😊 Maybe it is American phraseology that I am unfamiliar with. I think you are suggesting that people can get lust and love confused sometimes, and you would prefer if they didn't. I would add that often with romantic love, there is lust with love for the loved one as a whole person, including their whole physical manifestation, not just 'privates'. But it is O.K., you don't have to be responsible for others' intimacy choices. 😊 We all have our own lives to figure these things out for ourselves. As with the characters in this film figuring out their various forms of love, and how it changes as people grow and change. It makes sense that a person would open their heart and fall in love with someone who helped them heal, feel comfortable and appreciated being more of their authentic self, and feel alive again, as in this film. 😊

Imagine having a husband who cared so much.
@daniellamcgee4251
@daniellamcgee4251 2 месяца назад
He cared about his reputation more than his wife, which was why, although caring, he was also controlling and stiflingly. That is why his wife did not have the space to breathe and find her own life again, that she lost being his wife in that society. She fell in love with a woman who didn't patronise her, and gave her the freedom and acceptance of her authentic self, that her husband, being too concerned about his reputation, and 'normality' could not do. He treated his wife like a child, and did not respect her autonomy and womanhood. I didn't perceive that aspect of his behaviour, caring, or allowing her the empowerment she needed to find her quality of life again.

DSYFUNCTIONAL FAMILIES Fathers and Sons (Russian), also translated more literally as Fathers and Children, an 1862 novel by Ivan Turgenev, shows how dysfunctional parents are the products of their own dysfunctional parents, and they in turn produce dysfunctional children. Dysfunctional families and childhood development trauma are inter-generational afflictions that repeat a pathological cycle that continues until someone becomes aware of their situation and breaks out of it. Every person experiences childhood development trauma to some degree.
