Perhaps everyone should be advised to read the parable of the Good Samaritan. Jesus is making the point that the person you despise is actually often better than those you admire. (Also interesting that it makes no appeal to God, it is secular in leaving it to the empathy of the audience to decide who is doing the right thing).
Back when, I heard talk that America was founded as a Christian nation. And then came some teaching that America was the "new" Israel, but that faded thankfully. Those talking Christian nation were Republican, even disliked Jimmy Carter, a Christian man for sure. I don't like the combination of politics and religion. Jesus was not concerned as He knew and said His kingdom was not of this world. Now, the political Christian folks say the separation of church and state really means that state should stay out of the church living, was never meant the other way. So much emphasis on human power, like God is up there to whop those who mess up, but has no power to do anything on this earth! Another issue is a concern for some who may use the Christian identity and words for political gain - and for me? talk about taking the Lord's name in vain! I cringe and pray for them! Lastly for now, just exactly which Christian denomination/tenets should govern this nation - cause there's a bunch of denominations, disagreements within denominations, church splits. Sometimes folks can't seem to get along in Sunday School class. I think democracy here is difficult to manage and muddle through. I cannot fathom the difficulty of a church run government!!
If people support limiting the role of government instead of making everything a political issue, that would solve most of these problems. In other words we need to leave most issues to the choice of individuals instead of passing legislation on most things. That would mean repealing most existing legislation. That would mean supporting having the government give up power instead of seeking more power.
@@andrewgeissinger5242So, you think most issues should left to the "choice of individuals?" Okay, so what happens when many of those individuals choose to not sell or rent houses to Black people? Or people in the LGBTQ+ community? What happens when employers choose to not hire women because "they might become pregnant?" What happens when a bank manager chooses to stop issuing lines of credit to Black people, gay/trans people and women? What happens when public elementary school teachers choose to require students to recite a Christian prayer every morning? Or a Muslim prayer? Or a Buddhist mantra? What happens when some parents choose to drive their toddlers around without a carseat? Or choose to allow their 14 year old daughters to be married off to 50 or 60 year old polygamists because their "religion" says they can?
Russell Moore is at the same time a fresh Voice and a stale siren call. He’s needed to help call out the people who say what Jesus said, but didn’t do what Jesus did. But the fundamental error since Constantine is to consider Christianity a social force - a bloc to be dealt with. There are people right now who would argue to the death for such things as Calvinism, Lordship, salvation, cessation, radical fifth and 6° separation, and just had anything else any verse in the Bible says how do you possibly think you could get a society together, on having real Christian convictions based in Christ himself, without an eye at all to their reputation or political posture? Ha ha Jesus said few there be that find the kingdom. While more is correct that vicious political further waters down the gospel and exonerates people from their failed responsibility to live it, to try to co-op these desperate parties into some type of Christian consensus is a bridge so far that even the universe can’t touch it.
2 parties political system has its seriously flawed areas that needs timely rectifications to prevent divides amongst people of the same country that will cause infightings and spread of hatred.
Never forget that those Christians who sanctioned the execution of other Christians considered themselves to be followers of Jesus. Human nature hasn’t changed since the Inquisition and the Reformation. Jesus’s parting words to his disciples had to do with teaching the things which he had taught them. Where are Jesus’s teachings on marginalizing, hating, ridiculing, and ignoring? Where are the calls to amass more political power at the expense of serving?
Amen, Joe! Welcome, dear brothers & sisters, to the world the Catholic Christians have lived in for....a loooooonnnggg time! More prayer, forgiveness and unity, as Jesus prayed the night before He died....
I believe that. I have several athiest friends with exemplary families & happy , comfortable lives. "Living their best life". The biggest difference is that you're not saved. Jesus did not suffer, die on the cross & rise 3days later for ppl who are perfect according to God's standards, (not the world's standards- GOD'S standards). Jesus came to save sinners. IM a sinner. I need a Savior, & the ONE & ONLY who's qualified to save me (or you, or anyone) is Jesus the Christ. That's the MAIN, but certainly (not the only) reason I gave my...EVERYTHING over to Jesus Christ. PS: please know I'm very aware thar there's ALOT of ppl who call themselves Christian who are NOT. & ALOT of ppl who think they're not hell-bound, but certainly ARE. God says so via the Bible & I believe his every word.
HELLO MR. EVANSTON🤗. I know I already replied but...Will you do something for me? Pastor Ray Comfort goes around (mostly Huntington Beach) asking & answering questions in terms of the very question you asked. His vids are short, HIGHLY interesting, & thought provoking. Even (usually) entertaining. Will you please watch one or 2? He's SO SO good at answering questions such as yours. I think it's the most important question a person can ask, so I hope you'll take the 10-15 mins to watch/listen...take a chance on getting your (?) answered. Ty in advance ❤
Pastors are the ones that did not teach the congregation that God does not show partiality. They believe the Republican sin is better than the Democrats sin. They are not taught that sin is sin by the Pastors.
