Ethan beat Jack up with such ease...and yet, Jack was the one who took Ethan out (at least until Charlie shot him). That tells me Jack could have beaten Ethan - he was just caught off guard!
Sure Ethan was 6 ft 6 and built like a damned truck but I still think they made him out to be ridiculously strong and OP. Then again Jack sorted him out in the end.
He may have been tall, but as for appearances he didn’t exactly look intimidating. That’s what was so great about his character, he played the quiet survivor just trying to get along to go along. And then the mask slips revealing him as a highly capable, well trained seemingly unstoppable assassin. I always tend to believe he must have had a background in special forces, like paramilitary or navy seals. The mans combat skills were sharp as a fucking razor, and he could take a beating. He was no chump
Answer me this… How is it that Ethan didn’t recognized Locke after Oceanic 815 crashed? Locke teleported back to the Nigerian plane crash and tried to reason with Ethan (who shot him) about being their leader. Locke disappears with the flashes and Ethan is somehow cool with the idea that the passenger from Oceanic 815 looks exactly like the teleporting guy. That scene was unnecessary because Ethan never developed any interest towards Locke. It would have been a cool way to pay off his curiosity towards Locke if in season 1 Ethan asked suspicious questions. Such as: “Hey… are you sure we never met before?” , “Have you ever been shot?”, “Does the name ‘Richard’ means something to you?”
Admittedly it would have been more plausible, Sawyer was a lot tougher, plus has experience as a boxer. Would have been more satisfying, like how usually the protagonist is beat but after learning his opponent is the victor the second time.
@muttonmouth Its not totally unrealistic, he used the tree behind him as leverage, if he hadnt had something to stop charlie from moving, then it would have been ALOT more difficult for his size, but if you push all your weight into a lift and you have something behind the object to stop it from moving it makes the lift alot easier.
How can one dude drag 1 guy and a pregnant girl all by himself through the jungle? And how did he hang Charlie from those tress by himself? Come on that’s bs.
Jacob probably lost his candidate, cos surname "Goodspeed" is on the list of candidates, so Ethan Goodspeed or his father, Horace Goodspeed, could be a candidates, well thats a score for MiB (black smoke) cos he cannot kill candidates but candidates can kill each other
Jack didn' take any care for Kate, he's acting like a wild buffalo. I compare that scene to the climbing scene at the beginning, when they helped each other. Sayid helped Shannon, Sawyer helped Kate, they became couples later, foreshadowed! funny!
my mind suggest me to think about what would happened if charlie didn't shoot him...damn! He would has to answer to all questions and they would fuck him around!
who are the others i saw grown up people and a kid with a bear with all dirty feet and legs the boy and sister with the bear have they been brainwashed ?
Finally !!!! Someone else is out there who thinks my exact thoughts. I wished the island was a secret place for doing illegal/immoral experiments on humans/animals (that would explain the polar bear in the jungle). It would have been a different show all together and very suspenseful IMHO.
Alex B the irony that if Jack or Ethan was injured in the fight and couldn’t mend it themselves, the only person that could help would be the one that did it.
The Chicken Nugget of Fate yeah she did remove the appendix good point. But as Bernard pointed out, it’s an easy surgery, almost within Bernard’s skills.. Where as the only two doctors with advanced surgery skills on the island are jack and Ethan. Ben did state that Ethan was a excellent surgeon but I don’t recall his specific specialty. Like jacks was spinal neurosurgery and juliets was fertility research.
This guy scares the shit outta me. Everything I watch things like the grudge, mission impossible II or even minority report I freak out when I see him. His face is evil!!!
@Slushy60 He's not extra strong mostly it's that he is fighting on his turf, Ethan was born on the island and I'm sure he knew it like the back of his hand.
I loved Ethan, he was a very creepy man who just had an evil feel to him. My favorite scenes with him are when he fights Jack the first time and when he slings Jin and chokes Charlie
I once heard that originally it was Locke who'd fight Ethan first, and he'd mange to stab Ethan before getting knocked out, then Jack would finish the job. But I think they excluded it because having Jack beat seriously injured Ethan wouldn't be quite the victory it was here.
I have six episodes to go before I'm done with Lost on Netflix. Let me just say, that with everything that's happened, Ethan still scares the ever-loving CRAP out of me. I screamed when he appeared in the sideways world, and...aaah...God he scares me...
Ethan kills a completey random innocent person to prove a point to these people who survived a plane crash, pretty shitty thing to do, but oh “we’re the good guys” Some others are cool for how they are but most were meant to be good and the fact a lot of the ones who interact with the main characters are violent, manipulative, and apathetic kind of just makes them look like people who love torturing for the fun of it. I get swayer, sayid, and a good portion of people from 815 did kill people and or ruined lives, but Jack barely did anything evil, he probably caused his father to drink himself to death but he wasnt the one who created christians alcholism, Charlie was a theif who had no good role models, but he didnt ruin anyones life, Hurley didnt do a single thing thatd warrant him being held at gun point and insulted. Half the people on the plane are normal people who have insecurities about personal shit, but the group of others at the second to last season were content to kill Jack hurley kate jin and sawyer until Hurley named dropped jacob, at that point the others completely let me down theyre just abusive assholes who weren’t properly led. Ben, Richard, Juiliet (sorry i dont see that name alot) are perfectly cool, (Bens an asshole but at least the show writes and gives us details on what made him kill a shit load of innocent people) but alot of them just come off like murderers or abusive people who get a free pass because of jacob. Like whitmore wanted ben to kill a baby a few decades later he flat out says its not his fault that child died at the hands of a mercanary he hired!. Like yeah i get it that there are parallels to some real Life things but dont get holy than thou on me when murdereing a guy boils down to theyre in my way, just fuck of n die others whitmore was a giant psycho hypocrite and cant believe Penny and Daniel are related to him
I think given that Juliet, Dogen, Mikhail, Bea and some of the other others have been seen to also know mixed martial arts that it's a requirement for the others to know, just like how learning Latin and Russian was necessary for them to know.
Thought thought he should of lives and Charlie shouldn't of killed him. I was mad at Charlie 4 that lol I wanted answers. Btw I just got into this show and just finished this episode so don't spoil it 4 me.
