Lynch doesen't often talk about how he structures narrative, but he sure is a master!

I'd pay good money for Lynch to write a book about his creative process in actual detail!

Just discovered this. Great analysis. The best part is that it doesn't go overboard or try too hard to be clever. Well done.

This is a great analysis video! Seriously, I watch these types of videos on many films, especially ones by David Lynch and Stanley Kubrick. This one is near the top of my list. Very informative, not overly wordy. I just so happen to agree with all of your points. Lost Highway is a slept on, misunderstood film. A great film!

Not bad! I only saw this movie about a month ago so it’s still new for me. When you say Fred’s “apartment” was “dingy”... You should know, Fred was in a *house*, and an upper-middle-class one at that. Probably worth over $1 million at the time of the movie in 1994. It was not dingy in the sense of being a lower-class property. I agree the lighting was dark, so maybe that has influenced your perception. But Fred is being portrayed as a very successful musician to be able to afford such a house in that neighborhood. I think this is an important point.

Terrific and wildly unpredictable ! The copy they screened at my theater was pretty damaged, but noentheless, such a flawless incarnation of a filmm "you shouldn't know anything about before going into it". Great and digestible video as always !

Thank you! I wasn't sure how I felt about this when I first watched it, but I've come to realise it's his most underappreciated work!

My favorite lynch is Mulholland drive, so I’d obviously love to see an analysis of that, but I would really love to see your take on inland empire. There are plenty on Mulholland drive, but inland empire gets overlooked. It’s my second favorite lynch. Edit: I just found your channel and have been going through all your videos in one day and didn’t notice you already had a video on Mulholland Dr. About to watch it now. Now, here’s for hoping an inland empire film essay is coming soon.

What was the deal with the voice over the intercom at the start of the movie being Mr green, but at the end it's him saying it. I don't get the point of that detail. I can't wrap my head around the fact that at the start it's the voice of Mr. Laurent or whatever's voice saying that Mr Laurent is dead. But at the end it's the main character speaking those words instead.

Mr Green is a manifestation of his jealousy, so it's only natural that once they unite at the end they would have the same voice

Just watched it for the first time. The music and some of the editing... taste was God awful. It's a shame, those things are a really stain on the rest of the movie and dates it.

That's a shame. Maybe give it a rewatch sometime. You obviously are somewhat curious to be watching and commenting on this video.
