I don't watch these on a cell phone, but on a 21.5" screen. I found myself ducking every time one of you flipped a limb at Walter's face. Same as when you were driving, I felt like I was in the back seat with Walter kind of hunching down trying to see past Robert's rearview mirror. Good job Walter!

Man Walter is the only one truly dressed for the occasion .. hat, gloves, pants inside boots .. perfect 👌🏼 I'm very thankful we were on a virtual hike. "I think Robbie left the key at the cemetery. AND Robbie is kissing the ground." LOL .. Now Walter .. Walter .. I believe u were poking fun at Dan & Robbie at the end of this vid. Thnx y'all .. for all the hard work & blood y'all sacrifice for the good y'all do. Have a great afternoon ❣️🙂🙏🏼

Have to admit that I had a smile on my face a couple of time. Been through briar patches up here in the woods in Michigan more then once. Your comment about running through them brought to mind a stanza from the song. Battle of New Orleans, by Johnny Horton, 'Yeah, they ran through the briars And they ran through the brambles And they ran through the bushes Where a rabbit couldn't go They ran so fast That the hounds couldn't catch 'em On down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico.' Keep up exploring. You guys do an important thing. Don't let the history be forgotten.

Wow, tough one. Thanks for making these, they are really interesting and intriguing and suspenseful. Plus the history comments are good. Just a hint for people in this situation, from my old Search And Rescue days. Purpose is not to be critical, just some info for others, from our training. When we were assigned a certain heading to maintain, we faced the heading, then used the sun to keep us in line as we walked. Eying the compass constantly was not pragmatic, because that kept eyes on it, instead of searching and looking ahead, so we only checked it occasionally. So whenever we had to detour around an obstacle, we reset the route so the sun was in the same position as before. Alternatively, instead of using our shadow, we could notice the angle of the tree shadows and keep crossing them at the same angle. We'd be offset from the previous trail but would still be going in the proper direction. There's several techniques to avoid being offset, but this is getting too long already. In your case, early in the route, the sun was kind behind you to your left, so you could see your shadows slightly ahead and to the right. Later the shadows were in different position. So you had the danger of walking in a circle. So when you got past a patch, using our method, you would re-check the shadows again. One more hint: When you got to the road, luckily the jeep was in sight. If it had not been, then you had to guess which way to go along the road. What we did was to purposely offset our return route by a few degrees, so that when we got to the road, we knew which way to go. This is real important if the jeep is at road's end. If you are returning, and get off too far past road's end, you can miss the road altogether, walking past it, and not knowing that. So we would offset towards the road that we came in on, knowing which way to walk back to road's end when we got on the road.

I live in Arkansas, but there's an old family homestead from the mid 1800's up the road from me. It looks just about the same as this including the family cemetery which is mostly marked with field stone. Hard dirt, rocks, briars, everything you don't want. Looks from the old fencing that the family made it by raising their own meat because that would have grown little or nothing in a vegetable garden.

I'm surprised you don't use a mapping app that you can pinpoint the likely locations for homesteads at home on a PC, then download the maps to a cell phone so you can use them to find the locations in the field, even if no cellular signal. They'll track your course as well so you can retrace your steps to get back to the Jeep. You can also drop pins (way markers) onto offline maps to record where you found field stone grave , china shards, bottles, etc, for future trips. Such an app would probably make a nice sponsor too, given how popular your channel is now. You can even use Google maps for all of this, but you need to download maps of the areas first, in case there isn't any cellular service out there. GPS works anywhere in the open though, no cellular service needed.
