It's behind you! Just shows what a small world it is and it's great to actually have contact with the owner. Interestingly MAM 488X is its original reg from 1982 (so it wasn't unregistered as Gaydon/Bonhams thought) and it started life as a beige 998cc Austin Metro - you can see the beige paint on the front in the auction photo.
Excellent little video Oscar. Winning streak was a really good program and some fantastic cars even if it was product placement in extreme by Austin rover. But as an Austin rover nut and collector that's fine by me. The whole series is on RU-vid but quality for TV viewing isn't great. It's a shame there wasn't a second series as the first one ends leaving it open for one I take it that metro is just a standard one with a body kit, not sure there were any real 6R4s on the show. Is the reg of the show one the same as one of the real 6R4 prototypes? Cheers Russ
Thanks, I believe there was at least one real 6R4 which was the prototype. This was a 1300cc one with a 6R4 body kit used for static/low speed type shots. The reg is a fresh age related one issued by DVLA a couple of years ago.
@@oscarsgarage447 the good old days ov group B rally cars , chuck a V6 in the back of a little hatch and rip, not seen the programme but will try to find something
@@oscarsgarage447 I suppose by then the prototype 6R4 had served its purpose and Austin rover were getting on with the production versions so using it in thre drama was good publicity. Is that in Gaydon now?
I was next to you on that day and said to you is that 6R4 as it was pulling away, you said not sure as you would liked to have had a chat with the driver/owner but you were unable as it drove out at the end of the meet, personally i looked at it in the field and thought it was a homemade jobbie as it just looked that way.
Depends on the vehicle and history (having registered kit cars myself...). DVLA have recently become very harsh on anything which isn't on their computer system (i.e. not been taxed, etc since about 1982). Turns out I slightly misunderstood on the Metro as despite being sold without documents by Gaydon it did actually have a chassis and registration number which is the one the owner retrieved for it.
Meant classicimpors kit cars best to do is if your car compnentsmatch donors v5 build car MOT as donor car ued to be if sed running gear engine gear box dash seats if possible then send v5 back stating body change if thy issue v5 your laughing at worst visa test but current MOT youhad donmeans can only try find faults if you can use classic cortina earlySierra's you'll be taxand MOT exempt once pass o donors plates as taxation becomes HISTORIC vehicle cheap insurance tax MOT free as longs cars roadworthy sorry about misunderstanding you@@oscarsgarage447
