melb is a good defensive team when fully stocked, but ordinary in putting on scores on the board, like saints. never going to be a contender again with the game plan and no forwards. grundys sooking when they needed a tall forward didnt help.

Melbourne's midfield was built on getting the ball by any means necessary and getting it forward by the same. In trying to change that they're stripping the identity of these powerhouse mids and asking them to be something they're not. Remember petracca had more shots on goal in 22 than even curnow and has been a stalwart in score involvements during and since their flag. Yes the chemistry wasn't there in the fwd line but that's also due to a lack of movement and selfishness.

it seems melbourne fc were playing themselves in alice springs. no mention of the magnificent dockers putting on a master-class performance that possibly inspired a new generation of alice springs junior talent to dream big! where was petracca's grace in defeat? he never mentioned the team that made him & his team-mates look slow & listless. immature.
