He is wrong about the law of abrogation. Jesus never came to abolish the law but to fulfill them. At most the closest thing Jesus could be argued to have done was ENHANCE the laws. An example would be committing adulatory. Jewish law stipulates adulatory is about the physical act of sex out of wedlock. What Jesus did was extend that understanding to include our thoughts on that merely looking at a woman with lust in our hearts is equal to the physical act of adulatory. Jesus was bringing to our understanding the importance of our heart attitude. Just like when he stated that it is not what goes into the mouth of a person which defiles them but what comes out of their mouth which defiles them. These are not changes to the law, they are deeper understandings about the real problem. Which is our heart attitude. When it comes to Islam and the revelations given to Muhammed, it makes ZERO sense that abrogation would occur in ANY WAY because Allah is supposedly correcting the past corruptions by giving the Quran as the right guidance THEREFORE, if it were true, all revelations being given to Muhammed MUST be correct the very first time because if verses have to be abrogated the claim of the Quran being the truth becomes contradictory. In other words, if the Quran is supposedly correcting where prior revelations were corrupted (which is the main purpose of it being revealed in the first pkace) there should never be a point where verses therein would need to be corrected. Afterall, how could something which is meant to correct prior scriptures ALSO end up containing corrections (abrogations). Its illogical and ends up being a self refuting fact.

Would you argue that the crescent has nothing to do Islamic rites? Why do Muslims face Mecca praying, does it not have a meaning that you are facing particular location when the God you are praying to is every where (omnipresent). Just as the Kabba and crescent is symbolic in Islam so also the cross in Christianity. Based on your logic, if what is symbolic makes that group a worshipper of that symbol, then Islam is not exception to your logic.

Secondly, We don't make use of direction in worship in Christianity because the God we serve is omnipresent. I can face anywhere in my room, sit, prostrate, or kneel to worship - they that worship God must worship Him in spirit and in truth and not by direction, pilgrimage, observing religious rites. Christianity is a relationship and not rites, symbols, a pilgrimage, or annual feast(s), it simply the relationship you have with the father made possible by the sacrifice of Jesus and guided by the Holy Ghost. Lastly, the cross was adopted from the start because it is symbolic of Christ's sacrifice, which is the basis of the Christian faith, and its used to distinguish a church from other buildings. There is nothing wrong with mosques having crescents on them because it distinguishes them from other buildings; the Ottoman used the crescent because it symbolizes something in Islam except you want to deny it.

The cross is a symbol of the fulfillment of Isaiah 53:5 and other prophecies in the old testament (the Torah) that prophecy about the cruel and painful death that will be placed on the messiah. Truly its a shameful thing to be hung on the tree, but that is the price for sin, shame, pain, rejection, and eventual death. By God's standard, no amount of work, piety or religious devotion can save a man. He instituted rites and sacrifices for the Israelites but got fed with it because man is imperfect Isaiah 1:13-14 and were abusing it for selfish gain. Sin separates man from God and the only one who can fill that gulf between man and God. The price for sin is horrible and the cross signifies the horrible price that had been paid for our sins. It is also a reminder that you are not of your own, you have been purchase at a great price, so you can't live your life according to the dictate of your flesh. The cross may mean something else to the world, but has a different spiritual meaning to Christians.

The whole chapters were made to be forgotten by Allah Taa'la, but many sahaba remembered the ayah regarding two valleys of gold. May be the reason is that although the recitation of this ayah is abrogated like the rest of the chapters, but the hukm of this ayah is not abrogated. This is similar to the hukm of ayah related to stoning of married adulterers, the recitation of which is abrogated but the hukm remains. And Allah knows best.

Hate to be a skeptic but one possible question is why Allah would bother with sending down an ayah and then abrogating it. What essentially is the point of it.
The answer is actually within the ayah (that explains abrogation) itself. In Surah Al-Baqarah ayah 106 it states: "We do not abrogate a verse or cause it to be forgotten except that We bring forth [one] better than it or similar to it. Do you not know that Allah is over all things competent?" Emphasize on 'Do you not know that Allah is over all things competent?', meaning, this is to show Allah's Might.

Hi can you explain why a chapter was revealed in the first place if it was going to be forgotten or changed. Isn't it believed that Allah word is perfect and therefore, the Quran should not be changed as Allah is All knowing. Sorry If i made the question confusing.

A questions for Muslims: was the verse about the 'sons of Adam' also a part of the umm al-kitāb, the tablet version of the Quran, which is in heaven according to islam? Or is it removed from the umm al-kitāb?

hadith is weak, however it doesnt matter man. Primary preservation of the Qur'an is oral transmission. If I have something memorized I dont need a piece of paper to know it.

Why do I mentioned it, because a lot of Muslims treat weak ahadith as if the where mawdu` and this can become problematic in other instances such as when ignoring warning or prophecies related to the End of Times. Weak ahadith should be viewed as weak ahadith, not fabrications.
I have a doubt. Why allah revealed this very verse then? Considering its a verse of the quran why even bother revealing it first instead of abrogating later??
It was probably meant for a specific situation prophet Muhammad (SAW) was going through. After that situation cleared Allah (SWT) did not think that that verse was necessary to put in the final version of the Quran. Jibreel (AS) and Prophet Muhammad (SAW) also were going through the Quran before leaving it to the people and they also did not think that this verse was necessary for the Quran. In Surah Al-Baqara, Verse 106 (summary) Allah (SWT) can abrogate or cause a verse to be forgotten if he wanted and he will provide a verse that is similar or better. Hope this answer clears your doubt.

I feel sorry for you if you think that bringing up the topic of Abrogation in islam is a dumb argument. There are real issues you have in the quran because of this Abrogation. Their are passages that are unclear what is to be followed because they contradict each other and the scholars say it has been abrogated. But the quran isnt explicit on what verse preceeds the other.

Subhanallah, two days ago I've read that verse 2:106 and asked myself what does this verse mean what verses were forgotten? and what are the verse they were substitute with? And told my self allah knows best I will look for it later and behold this video poped up in my feed and I got the detailed answer, subhanallah all I can say thank you David allah showed me how he uses his enemies as a tool to guide his believers, Alhamdwlilah, and brother farid jazaka allahw khairan brother.
I had many doubts about the true faith, the way of Prophet Abraham (Peace and blessings be upon him). Slowly but steadily GOD cleared all of my doubts. I reverted in 2016. Alhamdulillah I am a Muslim now, GOD opened my heart to the right path, the way of Adam, Abraham, Noah, Moses, Jesus and Mohammad (Peace and blessings be upon them all).
