That's brilliant! Thank you. As a youngster I walked along part of the recently-closed route, accessing it near the old bridge on Penyard Lane, Ross on Wye. It seemed such a shame to me at the time that the railway was lost forever.

Very cleverly done. I live near this route and have spoken to several people who used the line in their youth, and who say what a picturesque and useful railway it was.
My Grandad used to own the cottage to the left of the bridge pillars at Fawley tunnel, many years of happy w/ends and school holidays spent there, we used to walk over the railway bridge to Ballingham station to board the train to Ross and Hereford. Brings some back magical memories. thank you.
Wow this is fantastic, thanks for putting this together. I remember canoeing on the Wye for my Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award and seeing all the remnants of railway tracks and bridges is really quite sad, it must've been brilliant when it was running.
brilliant video .. I worked at Rotherwas for 13yrs & got to know some old guys who used to be part of the crews who worked on the trains from Hereford to Ross & one lovely man told me about the fun they used to have by challenging to keep the torch between the units at all time..
What a lovely film, brought a lump to this 'old Herefordians' throat. Would that have been the line that passed over Hinderton Bridge and Belmont Road in the 50's?
Little or no chance of that, sadly. One of the last members of the station staff at Ross, Eric Rawlins, waged a valiant campaign for reopening. There was even a feasibility study, but on his death everything fizzled out. Eric had the grand plan of opening everything, including Ross-Chepstow, and that would have been a scenic trip and a half, but now the plan has gone with him.
@@philippankhurst6680 Yes I,ve heard this too,I mean most of the trackbed is still there between Hereford and Ross,the biggest task would be Ballingham,Fawley and Rotherwas tunnels.
