16:56 - Wow! You got it! "Flash Sideways" is exactly what we called it back in the day. If memory serves, show runners Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse (or "Darlton") used to do a Lost podcast every week between episodes and they were the ones to "officially" label it a "flash sideways" in one of their podcasts. By the way, most fans called the mysterious island guy "The Man in Black".

Good observation that in both timelines Jack can't find his father's body. Even if the plane didn't crash, Christian's body still got lost. Sounds kind of like Eloise telling Desmond that "the Universe has a way of course correcting." Some things are different (Hurley feels lucky instead of cursed, Desmond is on the plane, Shannon didn't get on the plane...) but other things are still the same (Kate is still on the run, Locke is still in a wheelchair...) Fascinating...

Richards fear when he realizes that it's the smoke monster causes his accent to relapse to it's original spanish when he says the word "you"!

The fun thing to speculate about regarding the "flash sideways" timeline is to remember that this new timeline began to diverge from the original timeline way back in the 1970's when Juliet exploded the bomb, presumably sinking the island. So, on his race around the world Desmond never crashed on the Island. Did he finish the race? The mysterious Numbers would never have been transmitted from the Island and so Hurley never would have heard of them from Leonard in the mental institution and never would have played the Lottery with the numbers. Does that explain why in the flash sideways Hurley calls himself "the luckiest man alive" instead of feeling cursed?
