Lost swan reunited with family

'Lost' swans are a fairly common call at Wildlife Aid. Reflections from roads or roofs can trick them into believing they are landing on water and, once down, they find it very hard to take off again!
Simon was called out to rescue this swan after it was heard crash landing on a roof. Luckily, it had not been injured and was taken straight back to the nearest lake. Once she was back on the water she swam straight over to her cygnets, who were very happy to greet her! :)

There were Swans who made a nest on my shed,. at night the boy bird was always gone,. a few times I went out and scared racoons away from the Mom bird, one night, rhey had just about gotten one of her eggs, it was like 3 feet away from her and precariously perched, I took a rake and carefully, very slowely, pushed the egg towards Mom, as soon as it got within reach, she reached out with her beak, and pulled it the rest off the way,. but reall tender like I was doing it,. THEN SHE LOOKED UP AND MADE A COO SOUND! it felt like a thank you... When the babies were born, I was out there putting pillows around the shed in case they fell off, but they left the nest within, it felt like a couple days, even a day,.. I was sad, then SHE AND HE brought the babies back! I think it might be on my channel actually ru-vid.com The Dad bird, I saw every day and he talked/honked to me,.. He would get all excited and happy about the good food hehe, so cute... I wish the Great White Herons were more friendly, they are so majestic,..

It's like my mom when she sent me to first grade and I didn't want to go so I just sat with her until she ushered me to go play. And the swans did the same thing he sat there kinda hesitant until he gave him just a little push.

Got to love the rampant air-paddling with its feet, when picked up. What's it going to do? Try and "out-paddle" Simon? 😂 ᴴᵃʰᵃ I'm quite amazed how well she and the pair of cygnets were able to recognize from a distance and swim right up to each other. Well... of course, I'm just a human who think all swans "look alike", but surely they think all humans look alike, as well! 😉 Beautiful rescue/release. What a lovely park that is, with lots of wildlife! It's been a while since I've been to one.

*Darren Todd* I was indeed finding it odd that the other swan was putting on a threat display and figured it might not be her young ones after all, especially after fleeing. Could be that she's still a _mother,_ but as you say, too many bodies of water and a small chance of actually finding her own, yet still with an urge to nurture.

I rescued a sheep in a field once. It was stuck on its back and couldn’t get back on its feet. I’m just turning you over ,I said, as I grabbed handfuls of its fleece and pulled it over onto its feet! And yes, I’m British!
