A rare occasion where I already know the obscure game Arch is recommending.

You can see Arch's warhammer preferences in this. He has his hordes of disposable floofers and desperately wants to get the heavy gunners of the muskets. Almost exactly like the skaven. (floofers = slave rats, muskets = warpstone jannisaries/ratling gunners)

I've had this game for a while now. I found it really hard to get anything really done in it. I don't know if it is a UI thing or a "Me being garbage at games" thing.

The prisoners of war your faction take are just the kids finding surrogate parents.

I'm glad this game is getting attention. You really just scratched the surface of the weirdness with this game. Good weirdness, mind you. You can mix and match units and heroes in other modes, play as an officer, or play in dungeon mode which is 100% about the heroes and combat (some of the heroes get pretty stupid when they get to high enough of a level, the elf mage can summon hurricanes and tornados for example). There are obvious issues with each of those modes, though. Playing as an officer is not great as it means you are left to the whims of your lord (who is probably incompetent). Some of the characters are not designed to be faction leaders and thus do not have a good unit roster to use. Dungeon mode is left to chance as to what heroes you get, with you selecting one as your leader/protagonist, and with the hard/soft counter way units work in this game, you are going to have a bad time fighting some of the enemies (droids with machine guns, for example). It is more or less a way for you to enjoy the game more if you like the base systems and want to cut the story out. I can also tell that you haven't done anything with the Crime faction. Their main fortress is infamous for how BS besieging it is.

Honestly for the random chatter, nothing beat CoH2 when I heard a faint "GRENADEEE" in the background and start frantically pressing retreat on all my frontline infantry

I do actually have this game on Steam... But it's been for years in the pile of "I'm going to get around to play this any day now."... I bought it because based on the store page on steam, it reminded me of another game by the name of Dragon Force, which is a pretty great game for the Sega Saturn that I would recommend playing, though getting a Sega Saturn and a game for it in 2022 is probably impossible, therefore may require going for the high seas discount on the account of lack of game preservation.

This game is part of a bunch of other games that run a very similar UI and everything. But there are not many recent releases that would slap new UIs onto the genre.

Musket is pretty awesome. Musketeers are not OP, but they are really powerful if supported by a strong frontline or facing against slow enemies. I completely dominated the northern section of the map destroying the knights of Cunitz, Alcatraz, and the lizardmen who overextended into the north. If you manage to defeat the enemy leader in an offensive battle and defeat them with no enemy territory connected to the one you just claimed, the enemy faction will be destroyed. That's how I beat the lizardmen. But I had a really hard time facing against the dwarves and frog people. I tried to use the same tactic against the dwarves that I did the lizardmen but, their leader was just so tanky and spongey that he broke my troop's morale before I could break his old dwarven back. And the frogs are OP.

Great to see content for Lost Technology. This game is pretty jank in a lot of ways but it has a lot of pretty good things in it and it is very fun and pretty good vaule.

Or you could just play Sengoku Rance for its superior plot.

So far all the factions have been translated so far now as they are planning on translating the hidden factions if they get their story released i would deeply recommend playing the crime campaign as there are 5 hidden factions to find and fight 1 is the knights if tge frog pirates have yet to be defeated and 1 has yet to be be released and 3 for the crime campaign the 2 of 3 show up depending on the fight against the one and can seen on muskt campaign too?.

This game has very strong Idea Factory energy. It feels like bits were chipped off of games like Generation of Chaos and Spectral Souls to make it. Unfortunately, it seems that it also inherited the Idea Factory curse, where incredible ideas and desire for depth and intricacy are merged with clunky, janky gameplay. I dig it, but always hope that a good one will happen.

This game is a flesh out mod to a japanese program. Developer of that program worked with this game. But as is not a new release I have low expectation for any mayor updates in mechanics. In theory everyone can make game like this as its a free software. But having voicelines, story and some art is worth the price. Maybe someone want to make a Brikering Bunch Total War from this. Using PNG-Tubers and some voice lines from streams. Who dont want to hear Arch using skills such as "Bread Kibs", or "Disavow".

Brigidine would be another to check out with it's recent remaster

World in conflict has battle chatter and idle unit chat and i love that of strategy games

Last time I saw this the only translated story was the Empire's.

2 minutes of gameplay in an it's already miles better than any modern CA game. AND the UI is mouse driven? if only that demon faction was translated. 27:27 not what's just mean, guy on a camel versus 50 people doing am moses impression with the seabed he's traversing.

This gives me Romance of the three kingdoms vibe

I love battle chatter, partly why I like the old relic games and certain first person shooter games...cannot understand any of that chatter nowadays but shit still good stuff. Also I like the art style here it strikes me as slightly old fashioned which is pretty cool. Will have to wait to see if they add in more english but thanks for the eye opener here arch :D
