👁️🗨️ LOST WAX CASTING WITH STONS IN PLACE. I mastered a new metal casting technique that I had been putting off for a long time. It seemed to me that I would just waste a lot of time and nothing would work out, since I had questions regarding temperature changes. I don’t have a muffle furnace, so it’s difficult for me to control the heating temperature of the flask during wax melting and calcination. I also read that molding is carried out on the basis of distilled water, which I also did not have. But I decided to try. To my surprise, I succeeded, and on the first try.
What are the differences from the usual lost wax casting technique? Firstly, it is necessary to make through holes in the wax model when installing stones. This way the stones will hold securely and will not fall out after melting the wax. Secondly, the flask should not be thrown into water to cool. It is necessary to wait for the flask to cool down on its own to avoid sudden temperature changes. Then the plaster must be knocked out of the flask with a hammer. That’s basically all the differences from my usual lost wax casting technique. I used natural machine-cut spinel stones to install it into the wax model. These stones performed well when clay-sand casting. None of the three stones burst or fell out during processing. I am very pleased and surprised by the result.
