Aragorn is such an amazing and well written character. Before The Lord of the Rings he aided both Gondor and Rohan under the alias of Captain Thoronguil and led both to victory against their enemies with low casualties, showing his skills as a leader. He traveled through the lands of the southerners, Harad, and got to now the actual people; both the good and the bad. Him and Arwen waited 47 years to get married, because papa Elrond would only allow them to if Sauron was destroyed and Aragorn crowned king; a feat he thought would be impossible, but eventually came to pass. He only entered the city as king after the steward (Faramir) gave him permission to, because he didn't want the people to see him as a conqueror taking control, but rather as a wanted king returning to his people. (It is likely he released the oath-breakers for a similar reason. An army of undead ghosts would have probably sent the wrong message.) When the Hobbits meet him in Bree, he makes it clear how for years he has longed for friendship and simple companionship during his long travels, but his rough, foul, unsavoury, hard, scuffed features were against him. He doubted himself after the disaster of Amon Hen, but Legolas and Gimili stuck with him and reassured him on his chosen path. He refused Éowyn's affections because he was committed to Arwen, and because he knew she didn't really love (at least not for the right reasons). After the war, he exalts the Hobbits, gave Drúadan Forest to the Woses as their own, allowed Rohan to exist as an independent Kingdom, formed a peace treaty with Harad, and made the Shire an independent state within the kingdom, and made it so that no big-folk could enter the Shire without the hobbits' permission, a rule he abide to himself. Alas, sadly his father died when he was an infant, and his mother died before her time from grief when he was a young man. Aragorn is an epic character, not because he was great, but because he was good. A good man, shaped by hardship and many long years, into a good king. His friends were the flame and hammer that shaped the iron into the sword.

Aragorn is the purest example of masculinity. Loyalty and Honor to the people. Protective and soothing to those that need it. No mercy to those who would not give it. He understands both his own limitations and the strengths of others.
@caluminnes579
@caluminnes579 4 года назад
in fantasy there are very few morally pure characters with very little darkness that are actually interesting. aragorn rarely shows weakness. he makes no attempts on the ring like boromir and is a great leader and king with only a few faults. and yet he still is incredible. that’s how you can write a character who’s relatable yet also pure. not everyone has to be morally grey in fantasy to be a “good” character
@AnnaLVajda
@AnnaLVajda 3 года назад
People have the too good to be true mentality now if there are few moral men even they get smeared now and not seen as they truly are even the most humble get accused of arrogance. He's a fictitious character but even were he real he would have challenges in modern society and probably not be accepted as is either. People don't recognize things as they truly are anymore the bad poses as good too and is unseen. He's a mature character and maturity is becoming rare now too.
@ishmaelforester9825

In the books he does show weakness and humility. He makes mistakes and ultimately follows Gandalfs lead. But obviously that is the wise thing to do.
@zacw812

I would say that Aragorn is very tempted by malevolence/evil. It's in his very DNA to be tempted by power. He just has the wisdom to see where his actions would lead and the humility to walk away.

I love Aragorn. Such an interesting way of handling the "rightful heir" trope. He knows from the very beginning that he is heir to the throne of Gondor, and though he does not oppose the idea, it is not his priority. He just seems to kind of... go where the wind takes him, finds new people to care for, and attempt to die for. My mans Elessar will shake some dude's hand, go "Nice to meet you, I would most likely die for you". Awesome character, kind to his bones, and braver than most.
@dionysus1917

ironically, in real life the same masses who say "I love Aragorn", would quickly ostracise and abandon him, as soon as the Zionist Media spammed out articles declaring him a "Evil White-Supremacist Neo-Nazi Facist Racist Dictator". The masses would almost immediately abandon him and throw him to the Wolves, like they did with Tyson Fury, or Jonathan Bowden, or Enoch Powell. The masses today as so brainwashed, to believe that their vote matters in this Demagoguery where Oligarchs Control the Fake-Elections via Media, but that in Countries where they have REAL leadership (like Hitler in Germany, or Pinochet in Chile, or Duterte in the Philipenes, Ghadaffi in Libya, or Assad in Syria) they are labelled as Evil-Dictators. In reality though, the only reason they are being slandered and warmongered against so badly, is because they are/were a threat to the Global-Dominance by the Hegemonic Banking Slave-System known as the US Federal Reserve & all the ridiculous doctrines that come with it.

The film trilogy omits a lot of details about Aragorn's actions at the Battle of Pelennor Fields (but it can be justified, since even 3 long films can't do justice to all the source material in the books). In the books, there was a belief in Gondor that "the hands of a King are the hands of a Healer." And so, Aragorn went around the Houses of Healing, nursing the wounds of his injured comrades and soldiers who were maimed by the Nazgul weapons. He was learned in the art of Elvish medicine, so the Nazgul wounds would heal better in his care. Now THAT is what I call a King.

Guys, pay attention, this is a great role model for us. Aragorn is faithful, steadfast, kind, courageous, and humble. He is devoted to his friends and willing to die for and beside them. He is unafraid of his emotions and is unafraid of being vulnerable; yet when it is needed, he is able to hold it back and be strong for those around him. Be like Aragorn, be a man. Edit: typo Edit 2: damn, after a full year, this dude is still hearting comments. Respect.

Aragorn is such an epic character, well developed just as the others in the entire LOTR series. He lived a long life filled with war and sorrow and yet love and friendship. No one else could have played Aragorn better than Viggo. This series will always age well. The only character that would have even came an inch close to Aragorn was Jon Snow from GOT if horrible writers didn’t do complete utter crap on the final two seasons. Thanks for uploading.

Aragorn was among one of the greatest kings in middle earth, he befriended and united all the kingdoms of men elves and dwarves fighting beside members of said race, he listened to a representative of otherworldly forces (Gandalf) he then bowed to individuals who many would deem as weak and in the end he worked to help rebuild the world. This should be the trailer for the upcoming series of the young Ranger who was destined to be the King of Men. Can you imagine a show like this? The story of how Aragorn grew up in Rivendell, finding out about his past, learning about his heritage, falling in love with Arwen, befriending Legolas, and coming to terms with his destiny. All while having little snippets of Viggo Mortensen playing an older Aragorn as an old and wise King of Gondor. I’d give everything for this show…

One of my favorite lines is when Gandalf laments that Frodo is alone and Aragorn says “Not alone, Sam went with him.” It’s such a tiny thing, but it shows that he believes in Sam. Despite the rocky beginning to their friendship, the two serve together as the backbone of the entire story and refer to each other with complete confidence.
