In this episode we take a look at scratch building a 2mm army. I show you the materials and techniques used to make the figures ready for a painting guide next week. If you enjoy scales that are relatively cheap to make, easy to store and quick to get on the tabletop, then 2mm is probably for you. For more information, check out Wargames, Soldiers & Strategy magazine issue 93.

Brilliant. Thanks for making these videos. I have completely lost my painting mojo but watching this while I try my best to put paint on some figures that I need for Tuesday just got me into the swing of it and over that initial hump. Motivating stuff! I will really look forward to seeing how this progresses.

Thanks so much for your feedback and support! I’m so glad that you have found it motivating. I’ve found making these videos really inspiring to find time for hobby time. Strength & Honour has been perfect for a great little project which can be done and get on the table in a short period of time! Great work!

Another interesting look into your process; thanks, mate! I use printed 2mm figures. It was tough to justify the investment into the printer and wash station, but it was so easy to get started, and now I have these god-like powers....I need minis? I trot upstairs, fire it up, and an hour later I have hundreds of whatever I need. Still and all, I really respect and enjoy what you're doing...really creative, and ya know, they look great! All the best...Mark

Funnily enough I have often debated getting a 3D printer. Currently I can't justify the money but I should think it's just a matter of time. I'd particular like one to print some RFA ships in 1/3000. I'm finding them hard to find on the market. 2mm figures would also be useful. Terrain for me is the biggest thing. Would be quicker to produce and look better than my scratch builds. It would also be really useful for producing bits for my N gauge model railway, Gosport Junction. Thanks for the feedback. I really appreciate the support.

@@TsCreativeRamblings I got an Elegoo Mars printer and and Elegoo wash/light setup, which I think cost about $600 US. Then some resin and alcohol (some Jameson's for me, some Isopropyl alcohol for the minis) and I was set. The video at Pere Aaron's Project Wargaming site were hugely helpful, and I love his figures as well. I mostly use his ACW files, but his Ancients are sharp as well. I may have to try some LOTR...you've inspired me!

Fair enough. Each to their own. As I haven’t read the books and am unlikely to, I decided to go with what I knew and have enjoyed. Appreciate you watching the video. Thanks for your support!

What ruleset will you be using to fight this battle out?
@TsCreativeRamblings

I’ll be using Strength & Honour by Mark Backhouse.

@LtMrT1985 This looks like a good ruleset for some of the epic middle earth battles. The main missing elements I guess are seiges (I think) and heroes/magic.

@@swaminic it is a great rule set, well worth trying! Mark and I have been discussing how we might incorporate the heroes/magic element of LotRs. Hopefully 2024 will see an article about this.

Great! I think this is the main missing piece in using S&H to fight War of the Ring battles - you really need rules to model the heroic powers of Aragorn, Gandalf, Witch King etc@@TsCreativeRamblings

I wonder if you could get away with a skimming of filler instead of the GS and score with an old craft knife? Or just GS and no matches?
@TsCreativeRamblings
@TsCreativeRamblings 2 года назад
You possibly could but this was how Mark taught me to do it so I've stuck with it. I think the end product looks good. If you do try that technique I'd be interested how you get on.
