Fire Emblem has a ranking system and you might know it's pretty silly. You might even know the Hector Mode rankings are bugged. But did you know there's a secret set of ranking requirements that might be the intended ones? And that someone did a run getting 5 stars in every rank in Lyn Hard Mode and Hector Hard Mode? Along with training every unpromoted unit to level 20, recruiting every unit, visiting every chapter including 19xx, getting all the treasure, going to the Linus and Jerme route split maps and never using the arena?

Feels like half the challenge of HHM ranked in the vanilla game (with those 0 req maps) is to save enough turns so you can spend some time on this map doing exactly this.

Ngl I find Rebecca to be the secret MVP of this chapter, every turn providing the right chip at the right time to feed the other units. Now ain't that what archers are all about!

Anytime I see Wil or Rebecca around in these maps just so they can chip with the ballistae I already know they're going to be really clutch for those training reqs. The run likely wouldn't be the same without them.

What a marathon of a chapter here, sheesh. That was a hell of a lot of exp though. I never realized this map could get so many enemies. I think I've only done Hector mode once, and I don't remember much about this map beyond recruiting Farina and capping Hector.

The good old Battle Arena teams days. The support chain was Hector - Oswin - Dorcas - Geitz - Dart. Especially the capped speed Dorcas with the Brave axe was something to behold. After all he doesn't get slowed down by it.

Well I can say I am enjoying the added complexity of Altissimo’s challenges. I always love seeing players find unique ways to up the complexity of simple designs. I wonder if FE8 would be viewed better by fans if it had a ranked mode as well.

Tbh the lack of a ranked mode has made me not interested in returning to fe8 as much as 6 and 7. I (and a couple others) have played with the idea of creating custom ranks for FE8, but it seems like a pretty daunting thing to work on, and I'm sure different players will have different ideas of how to balance each rank.

Altissimo really got me back into the GBA FE games, huh? I'm doing the FE6 challenge thing EXCEPT the S-rank. That one's not my forte yet. The Japanese name for Geitz is Ga-i-tsu, I believe. So, yes, the syllable is similar to "height".

"He's really really awesome" is a pretty good reason to bring Geitz imo, as is "I'll never recruit him again in my life"

It's funny cause I played a dozen times before I found there was an alternate map with Wallace, cause I always deploy and train all 3 lords, and I only found out about it because I started interacting with the community online.

@@drum1801 Honestly I just end up training the Lords anyway. This game has loads of easy enemies that give lots of EXP and I can pretty easily accomplish all of my goals even if I deploy every Lord occasionally, I'm not actually losing anything by not only deploying mounted units on every map.

Plus, at least Geitz is more usable than Wallace outside of a first playthrough where you're forced to promote Wallace(even then, I don't think General Wallace is good)

its actually possible to get 0 turns in shadow dragon because if you get a certain number if turns (i think 500 and something) the turn counter resets so its theoretically possible to complete all of shadow dragon in 0 turns

I'm surprised this chapter doesn't tank the tactic ranks or whichever is the one where you need to win 40% of the battle, a lot of the cavs survived many rounds
