Love these no frill videos of plants for specific purposes. And with an experienced landscaper/grower/nursery owner quickly discuss some factoids of the plants. Really dense with information. I learned about sunshine ligustrum in some of your other videos. You had mentioned you've seen one thrive in shade, so I gave them a shot for a space in my yard that gets about 3 hours of sun. Planted them in May and they are doing beautifully! I love these videos! Thank you!

I have 3 Dear Delores next to my deck that I babied last year, giving them extra shade during our hot summer and drought. This year they grew quite a lot and are holding their own with the heat. Minimal wilting. I have an Aucuba that came with the house. I absolutely hate it because it pops up everywhere. Maybe it is just that variety but it’s now in the middle of my Mahonias. Hard to dig out with the pointy leaves of the Mahonia!

Great info as always! I knew you had influenced my choices for my landscape, but watching this video even I am surprised by how much! I planted Yewtopia in front of Florida Sunshine Illicium and wow does it pop! I planted the Mojo Pittosporum... love it! I planted a little Paperbush (Edgeworthia) this Spring and it has grown like crazy and has absolutely beautiful huge blue-green leaves! I can't wait to see how many blooms it has this Winter. Thanks for all you do!

Goodness Jim. I love that you talk fast and give us loads of information. But telling us that “you have another video” is driving me nuts and actually distracting. I just picked up a Yewtopia Plum Yew from Lowe's (on clearance!) Now I'm just waiting for monsoon season to end so I can put it in the ground. I feel like we've been getting heavy rains almost every day!

Seeing this video now and I’m looking for a foundation plant that would get full sun by a 5 ft. metal fence. I enjoy our pond view behind the fence and want to anchor this panting between my Dolly Parton rose’s and build out from there…. I’m lost…. Would a Camilla be an option? Thanks so much!

Lots of good choices. I want to remove some 30 year old azaleas on our front foundation and re-landscape with lower growing plants. I am considering the Shishi Gashira Sasangua and appreciated your video of that one.

Mr. Hort, when you say shade foundation plants how many hours of shade do you mean? My front gets a few hours of sun in the am and then a little more in the pm.
