I passed the PMP exam on 10/28/23 on the first attempt with AT in all 3 sections. It was 95% scenario based questions and the entire time I had David's voice in my head while I read the questions. I suggest watching all of the Waterfall and Agile questions videos if you want to pass as well. Many thanks David!

@@snehalis.9235 I just passed as well and it is almost all scenario based questions. PMI Study Hall is a great resource and so is PM Training's mock exams. I thought the exam was going to ask some questions such as "What is the Salience Model?" Did not happen it was all situational based.

Passed the PMP exam today with AT in all three categories. Dozens of hours spent watching David lay out his logic and thought process was extremely helpful! It enabled me to attack each question with a 'definitely not......strong maybe....let's see if there's a better one' attitude. Some of the questions are deliberately worded to weed out those not paying attention, and I think the way David teaches this content enables you to identify the right choice. Thanks David - I'll be back when it's time to scrub up on the latest best practice.

Hello Dave, thanks a lot for sharing. In terms of Q26, my understanding is since the requirements are clear, the scope of work should be clear as well (waterfall) but solution ideas are uncertain which sounds like a hybrid approach.

Got 8 out of 10 correctly. Wow, 12:53 Question 25 was reaaaaally tricky for me, but now I get context really matters. (ex: Agile is not feasible to reengineer a single process) 26:09 Question 30 was a great one too since it reminded me that all these different methods are basically different ways to go through the general product design cycle. Leaving this notes for me to review later.

Just took the PMP exam a few days ago. Questions are much harder than these questions, unfortunately. I was constantly facing questions where 2 or even 3 answers were plausible, but not enough info was given in the question. The questions here (except #25) are much more clear than what I experienced on the exam.

David. At 2:58 You say that you might not know if the scope was previously approved. @davidmclachlanproject
@davidmclachlanproject Год назад
Good question. PMBOK 6 (now the process groups practice guide) is a step by step process for project management. I would combine that with the Agile practice guide. The PMBOK 7 is like a high level overview of project management and its general principles. I would still read it, if you can. I have a 1 hour video on it. The best prep is to do practice exams, and the exam is 70% Agile and Hybrid. You can do it!

@ztakguod

Questions like #30 really bother me. I read page 42 and true enough, those are the 'general phases of a lifecycle'. But it is not a framework of any kind. It gives no definition of how to run the project and the group of newbies is learning NEITHER of the two methods. So, we are using general definitions instead of a real method and hoping that these people who have no experience succeed. Seems like a disaster in the making to me. So to all of the new people working on a project with some amount of uncertain requirements, go use no method whatsoever to figure out the 'feasibility' of your project. PMI is using the test to make sure you read every page of the guide, but questions like this suggest the answers are sometimes devoid of practicality. The best answer is C - Use Agile. It handles the uncertainty well, the team's capability will increase, and there are existing coaches, references, lessons learned, and training to improve their knowledge when they have questions. Pg 42 lists the general life cycle of a project and there it stops.
@davidmclachlanproject
@davidmclachlanproject 10 месяцев назад
You make a fair point. Agile is good for working through uncertainty. The question says we don't know if requirements are certain or not. But the main point is a bit deeper. Waterfall or Agile, they both follow the same broad steps to deliver value. Feasibility? Whether it's a Project Sponsor in a business case, or a Product Owner prioritizing by cost/benefit, the effect is the same. We're delivering a change. Agile is just done many times, on smaller pieces. They even have similar practices, called different things. Retrospective? Or PIR / Project Post Mortem? Again, the only real difference is smaller pieces more often, for Agile. Learn the broad steps. Then learn them deeply (I suggest the PMBOK 6 or the Process Groups Practice Guide). You will come to see the names may change, but the ideas and the practices are the same.

Hi David - I found your channel a quick question. In the Udemy the course is 23 hours. However, we do need 35 hours. Could you please confirm how to build up the remaining hours? Or how to proof to PMP during the application that although your course is 23 hours is enough to cover 35 hours? I haven't seen a note like that in the description of your course in the Udemy. Thanks a lot.F.
@davidmclachlanproject
@davidmclachlanproject Год назад
Yes, the content is intentionally kept efficient, and the remaining hours are covered by the included 500 practice questions (easily 12 hours with one or two goes studying the answers), which embed the Process Groups, PMBOK 7, and Agile Practice Guide perfectly 🙂 Edit: The included certificate of completion for the course notes the full hours.

Hi David, can you confirm that if I write the exam in the next 3 weeks that I can expect questions from the 7th edition. Thanks
@davidmclachlanproject
@davidmclachlanproject Год назад
From what I have heard - the questions are now 70% Agile / Hybrid based. PMBOK 7 is like a high level overview of project methods and needs, with a servant leadership focus - so it fits and it will all help. The PMBOK 6 / Process group practice guide is a more step by step / waterfall approach. I prefer this for real-world work, but the exam itself is more agile.

PMP (delivering change) will be a very good compliment to SSBB (critical thinking). The PMBOK 6th Ed. was replaced by the Process Groups Practice Guide, so it is still relevant (plus it's basically a step by step process, which I love). Good luck!

Oh sorry - I mean that the PMI-PMP qualification is about delivering projects, so delivering change or value. Change management is a part of that, but it's separate 🙂 There is a section on managing change in the PMBOK 7. You'll get everything you need from the PMBOK 6th and 7th editions (or replace 6th ed. with the Process Groups Practice Guide). The 6th ed. is my favorite because it is a step by step process. My Udemy course clarifies a lot of this and goes through it all 🙂 Good luck! You can do it!

It is called the Process Groups Practice Guide now - almost exactly the same content, but streamlined, so fewer pages. If you can bear it I would still recommend you read it - it's a step-by-step process for PM and it helped me the most on my journey. It is VERY dry though 🤣
