Yet, another brilliantly produced film of your outing. Great to see those wild trout hung in there during one of the hottest and driest summers on record last year. I was worried but those were gorgeous wild bows who succumbed to your handtied flies! That one silvery chunky bow looked like a small Atlantic salmon. So perfectly shaped and full of piss and vinegar. Luv’em!! Another great video bud , as long as you keep pumping ‘em out I’ll be ready for the notifications! As always, tightlines!
Hi Dan...glad you had a good day of fishing on the Esopus. It is really loaded with wild rainbows. Many are the size of the last one you caught 10 or 11 inches. However, there are big fish in that river in the neighborhood of 16 or 17 inches or bigger. I loved fishing there years ago mainly because of the beautiful view of Mt. Tremper, the quaint village of Phoenicia, and the challenge of catching fish when the river is stained as it often is. The drawback of the river is that in the summer "tubers" go down the river splashing, clowning around and generally spoiling the fishing for hours.
Yep!!!! Cool place for sure ! Actually speaking of other fish! A few gentlemen recognized me from here on RU-vid. I told em to go hit a ruffle next to me that I was going to hit later in the evening. Few casts, BOOM. MONSTER trout flies downstream and gets off. So there are some gems mixed in! See you Friday with a MEGA Delaware river brown trout video
It's a great river , when it's running clear enough. Those Isos make them snooty sometimes. I like a modern variation of a leadwing coachman, just under the film. Twitched . Definitely a dredging river , but you can confidently keep some fish.
Thank you, Bro, for such much needed relaxation. You are one great fisherman! Beautiful area. I need to research where the Esopus is...somewhere in the Catskills.
I have fished the exact spot you are first fishing in the video and caught there. Upriver where the deconstructed bridge is i caught an 18" brown (my largest trout at that time in my life) I was stoked. And you HAVE to check out the Phoenician Diner, their food is great. Tight lines!
