Melissa…it is so wonderful to hear you come to this realization about Optavia. I saw you struggle through the last few years, always blaming yourself for the weight gain, which made me really sad. Ultimately, Optavia was not a healthy, sustainable way to eat and maintain a healthy diet. And their business model is built on maintaining their customer base by continuing to order their powders, bars, etc. Eating whole foods is the absolute best way to eat. And you’re a beautiful woman inside and out. Just know that we’re all out here rooting for you!

KUDOS to you for stopping your journey with Optavia. It & others similar are a racket to brainwash you into thinking you need their product to lose weight. A lifestyle change is the only way to go, which I see you have decided as well. Love your whole attitude about it in not giving up. You are an inspiration to us all. ❤️ ❤❤❤

I am so excited for you! I completely agree. 5 years ago, I weighed 270 lbs, was so sedentary and ate so many processed foods. I changed all of my habits. I eat whole clean foods, drink water, move and work out, do weights and no alcohol. I feel incredible. The great side effect is that I weigh 155 lbs now and feel so strong!

When I first saw you using Optavia I was so inspired that I started the program also. My sister in law was my coach. This was 2 years ago after my mom died. I quickly lost 20 pounds and then within about 8 months, it all came back. I now have lost 10 pounds doing Weight Watchers, or just watching calories. I liked the fast weight loss, but I failed horribly at maintaining. I won't try that again. Thanks for all your videos! Good luck sweetie.

I appreciate you and this channel. It is real. I too was on Optavia. I too have gained back the weight. It is not sustainable to keep the weight off with Optavia. Nor is it financially worth it. I was so thrilled to see your video confirming I wasn't crazy. I am excited to hear about your new adventures and that we get to go along with y'all.

Oh Melissa… thank you for your transparency.😊 I used to follow you regularly as I was yo-yoing with Optavia. I got to a point to where I was so tired of the extra weight, insomnia, hot flashes, anxiety, as well as having been part of diet culture for at least four decades… I reached out to a friend of mine who had found good health body mind and soul through a coach. She has been working with for over a year. I didn’t know how I was going to afford it but knew that if God wanted me to do this, he would make a way. At last, I know I am on the right track in the right place and God is in the midst of it. I know you and God are good friends🙂 and that he is also directing your path to true health, body, mind, and soul. My coach told me right off the bat that working on mindset is 99% of health. He has helped me to find and continue to practice food, freedom, and even enjoyment. I love this video that you made! Really hits the nail on the head! I have sent your video to a dear friend of mine who is an Optavia coach and has struggled with her weight also for decades. I am praying that she will be open minded and realize that foods, the way that God designed them are what is best for our bodies, and that changing the way, we think and what we tell ourselves, according to what God says is true… is God’s way of transforming us to become new whole daughters and sons. There is a Phillips Craig and Dean song that I just love called. “This is what it means to be free! “God has brought me into a much much better way of living and I pray he is doing the same for you and I believe he is. Big hug! Susie

So glad to see you again. I am 63 and overweight, size 16, my heart doctor put me on the Mediterranean diet. I mostly eat whole foods, very little processed and not so much beef. It’s going pretty well, I don’t really think of it as a diet but more of a life change. You are speaking my language, I love thrifting! Can’t wait to see your new content! 😊

Thank you so much for explaining transitioning off OPTAVIA. I have been on it six weeks and have lost 12 pounds but my body is telling me it is not right to eat so few vegetables and no fruit or bread with fiber. I have sixtyish fuelings left and I will take it slow. I know how to eat a balanced meal and count calories. That is definitely sustainable.. We can tell you sincerely wanted to help people and you still are! Blessings!

I've had long term success with the Mayo Clinic Food Log. It's visual for me. It's health focused. It's sustainable. The base is fruits and veggies, rather than grains, although healthy grains definitely have a place. I can see the difference between what I think I'm doing--and what I'm actually doing. It helped me with planning and with making decisions through the day. Eventually, it became habit--a way of thinking. The weight came off slowly (about half a pound a week). And I learned a lot of "go-to" meals--from my own web recipe browsing--that I could make quickly and do quick shopping for. I've sustained it for many, many years now. It broke the yo-yo. Do you need that particular log? Not really. If you have a nutrition plan, you could create your own visual log--a series of categories and checkmarks. I did use a health coach to keep me committed. But it wasn't a health coach who was wedded to any particular plan. My goal was not to do a weight loss plan, but to do a sustainable lifelong basic nutrition plan that could be tweaked both for seasons and for seasons of my life. With the health coach, I discussed the plan, the goals, the steps, the wins, strategized how to get over the habits that were harder to break (chips!). Sometimes, I had to place food categories into a never group (yep, chips and sugary sweets), but eventually I was able to get to the point where I could enjoy a few. I also got used to feeding my husband portion sizes that were different from mine. I'm petite. I gain weight easily. I'm menopausal. He's got that kind of metabolism where he has to take in a lot of calories, or he loses muscle mass and body mass generally. Good luck with your health journey. You can do it. And, yes, basic nutrition isn't complicated. Advanced nutrition, yes. *Marketed nutrition* ridiculously complicated. Basic nutrition, no. It does have to be tailored to you--the portion sizes, etc.

Bless you Melissa! You're on the right track. If you're needing to be co-dependent on a program , it's just not going to work long term. (They're mainly manufactured, processed foods!) So glad you figured that out. As a nurse Working in Women's Heatlh for 35+ years I've heard so many stories of "Diets" that just didn't work, of course! Such a great decision to get "back to basics" and eat WHOLE foods grown on our earth as God intended. I've missed you so much and am so excited to see you back on track and moving forward! Beauty is in your heart and not in your appearance! Your heart is beautiful & amazing!

Thank you for sharing! I watched and followed you a few years ago. I lost over 50 pounds with Optavia in 2021, I was also a coach. I did not follow the transition piece of the program, mainly b/c I did not fully understand it. I am educated but just missed the mark on this one BIG TIME. I gained 30 plus pounds back! I am re-starting with Optavia this coming week as a client not coach. I thank you for the very valuable information. You really helped me grasp the transition phase with your previous videos (Transition Week 1 - 6). I'm very thankful for this post/video, it helped me greatly. You helped me realize I am not alone in this.

Melissa - first time back catching this video in many months. I congratulate you for making these decisions for yourself and hope that you will make great progress on the Whole30 program. I have lost 65 pound on Optavia and have just been sort of coasting since Christmas 2023. But have managed to hold steady even though I need to lose about 25 more...but it scares me to think that if I quit or try to go back to eating whole foods, I might gain it all back. I have been watching the progress and all the videos by Lizabeth Brassells during her 160 pound weight loss and her channel is called Living in the Light. She has videos that take you through her weight loss over 65 weeks and then her 6 week transition and the maintenance since then. She added real food back in slowly during the transition and now has only been on real food in Maintenance. She watches the macros and records her food etc and knows how many calories she needs to eat to keep from gaining it all back and so far she has been successful. So I am going to try to follow her plan soon when I go into Transition and see if I can keep my weight off. I look forward to no longer buying anything from Optavia and just getting back to eating REAL FOOD!!. Thank you for all you shared today and for being Truthful and Transparent. Hang in there and I know you will be successful. Hugs!!! Carol PS so glad to know Boomer is still with us!!!!

The calories on 5&1 are extremely LOW. I was a client and coach as well and left for the same reason. (among other things) The Diet Industry banks on us failing so we become back to them over and over again. 💰💰💰I’m really proud of you for leaving and speaking on this, it’s not easy. “Best practice” is being true to yourself. ♥️

100 percent with you……i care for you and Scott and we could talk for hours about this. I am proud of you and I love your honesty and care. There were red flags for me with Optavia from the start…Dr. A gives me the creeps and I didnt trust him. No one is meant to stay on this program long term but the minute you veer from the 800-100 calories the trouble hits. Its a trap and it is contagious because it was the only way I have been able to lose weight in decades. Then it became fear based and can make you feel depressed. I feel very blessed to have only gained ten pounds in two years but, it takes its toll and the cost of the food, and the size of the bars changed tremendously from the time i first did this when it was medifast was crazy. The bag was the same size but the product was a fourth smaller. When i asked about it i was told its more dense nutrition now….bologna! If im allowed to say that word, ha. I consider you a friend and I wish you the very very best. God bless you as you continue your journey. Hugs to the pups, and of course Scott. Gods got you, and will use you in a mighty way. Ill be watching for you……be kind to yourself….Grace and Peace.

Melissa I’m going through the same thing. I stopped Optavia and gained everything back plus some. I’ve also been sick. I’ve been on tons of steroids so that didn’t help my weight either. Then the month of February was horrible. I was short of breath, I had no energy, and my ankles swelled up. I was in Congested heart failure. I was hospitalized. Now I have to try to figure out how to fix it. But I can tell you this I feel so very alone. Drs keep saying lose weight but no one says how or I will help you. It’s awful that there is no one to consult. I feel your pain.

You are such a breath of fresh air! And, you always come back with a message right when I need to hear it. I started a week ago buckling down with my eating. I am eating clean, whole foods. I figured out my BMR so I could set my macros in my fitness pal. I’m definitely not perfect and usually am under my protein. I’ve watched your channel for so long and have followed your journey. I as well have been off and on plan so many times. I’m 53 and have thyroid issues. I had to finally take my health back because optavia set me up for failure. I was 100% when on plan and 100 when off in a bad way. I had to learn I could eat anything and nothing was off limits. I started limiting the amount I ate but not what. Because if I denied myself I just wanted more. I have lost 35 pounds of weight off of eating anything I want just less calories. I can feel the heaviness of your heart and agree with everything you said about the program. You can do it. You’re just as beautiful as ever but I want you to be healthy in life. Good luck. So glad to see you back and look forward to many videos with your new outlook and mindset. You are on the right track! Love your channel. You spoke for many of us today that really understand and is/have struggled with this. One of the profound things that was told to me by a coach is that, there are foods that you can NEVER eat again and you have to accept that! I think that speaks volumes about the program and its sustainability. Let's face it, LIFE happens. That is OUR reality. Learning how to do the best for YOU is the greatest lesson and take away. So upward and forward we go on our journey! Blessings always! Love you and Scott!

Melissa, you are real and honest and I, personally, appreciate it. For those of us who struggle with our weight, the struggle is real and ongoing. Weight loss with a program (if you follow it) is relatively easy. Weight maintenance is a whole different story. The quote you shared is 100% true. You can't go back to the "way you used to eat" or the weight comes back. Programs come and go. For me, it's about eating whole foods, fresh fruits and veggies, lots of water (I hate it too) and trying to limit portion sizes. Reminding myself of what I want (is the cake worth it?) sometimes helps, but sometimes, it's heck, yeah, cake! Full disclosure, I am a WW lifetime member and was a WW coach for several years. WW also began to go in a direction I couldn't support, promoting products I don't believe in, and couldn't, in good conscience, promote to my members. You are not alone, my friend. Health is everything. You will get this!

Welcome back Melissa. So glad to follow you once again. I gained 20 lbs during Covid so am working at getting it off. Prayed and prayed, then Lent came along to help me begin to reach my goal. Can’t wait to see all the variety of videos you are going to film in the future.

My friend sells small thrifted items online. This is what she thinks is the key to her success. Before she posts items for sale, she prepares what she thinks she needs to get the item ready to be shipped to her potential customer. Then she posts the listing. When the item sells she only has to print the receipt seal the package and slap a mailing label on it and run to the post office. If it doesn’t sell, she unpacks it and reuses the packing materials for something else. She said that took a lot of the pressure of making a pretty presentation for her customers on short notice away.

So happy for you Melissa!! Been a fan of yours for a while, you are a pleasure to watch! I found you because of optavia. After 6 months of it, i lost my hair and it destroyed my metabolism, jacked my hormones. I ended up gaining 60 pounds within 4 months afterwards. Still dealing with the effects of that. So proud of you making this decision. And we are all here to support you! ❤️🙏

About 10 years ago, after years of living in yoyo diet culture, I began a ketogenic eating plan. Low carb, adequate proteins and fats, also eliminated processed foods and seed oils. In 6 months I lost 40 lbs. And have kept it off to this day. I eat this way all the time, if I have a treat ( ice cream, etc) I just start right back the next day. So easy and I’m never hungry. I’ve never counted calories, only carbs .

Hi Melissa. Glad to see you again. I agree with you completely about Optavia. I did the program in 2021 and lost 60 lbs in 5 months. My father passed away in June that year and I went off plan. I gained some back and tried multiple times to go back on plan, “knowing” I could go on the plan and lose it all again but I could not keep on plan again. I also realized it was not something you can maintain on. I am also still struggling to lose what I regained. I am trying Mediterranean and trying to learn to cook real food. I will be watching and I’m in your corner.

Hello Melissa, So happy to see you back. I too have been a up and down weight loss and gain gal much to my dismay. It’s called my facts of LIFE. But for sure I can say one thing I always have loved my veggies and fruits along the way, not much on processed foods or fast foods though. But a EATER nevertheless. Still maintaining conscientiousness on eating healthy. Love Thrifting ! Congratulations on your booth with your daughter 🎉 Take Care, Love your videos, You are an inspiration, you’re real and honest 🙏🙌🌷💞

Melissa, I'm so glad to see you back! Whole 30 is a great program especially to control sugar cravings. Definately whole foods are the way to go, I believe that the best way to lose weight and eat healthy is a well balanced plate where we just focus on whole foods and portion control.

Melissa have you looked at intermittent fasting at all? Two good books are The Obesity Code and Fast Feast Repeat. It's a lifestyle not a diet.

Nice to see you again! I used to watch you when you did all the Stitch Fix hauls and other clothing and jewelry hauls. I loved the trip you took to New England with your daughter and your friendship with Sherry (forgot her channel name). I havent watched her in a long time! Im interested in eating healthy. I have gained around 13 pounds the last eight years. Im interested in seeing what you will be cooking. I eat too many frozen foods and they dont taste that good and i need to stop eating those but im single and its hard to cook for one. I will check out your daughter's channel.❤

I was just thinking about you and hoping everything was okay with you and your family! I'm so glad you are returning to YT. I enjoy your shopping trip hauls and trip videos and decorating videos. Now we get thrifting, too! Nice! I do want to say that your explanation of our ups and downs with weight loss are spot on. There is no magic diet. It's just hard work. I will be looking forward to your progress!

Thanks for sharing. I lost 40lbs 2 years ago and have gained 30lbs back. I loved Optavia for the convenience of the food during my workday. I did not maintain the way I should have due to expense. I hear you on business practices. I thought that I could have became a coach, but had some feelings similar to yours. I also agree with eating whole foods. As that is the most sustainable way of eating to better health. I am doing a program through my work that is teaching those basics. Best wishes to you and your journey.

Melissa, I LOVE YOU!!!! Thank you for your honesty always! I'm right there with you about Optavia. I lost 72# and have gained 50 # back at a blink of an eye! everything you mentioned today is so true about the program. I'm trying WW but gaining weight> Ugh. I will look into the 30 whole program. I too have been thrifting and estate sale shopping. I've decorated my little ranch all with second hand everything. So fun! I enjoy watching your family and pups. I am a long time poodle lover/owner. You are an inspiration to me, and so many others. God Bless You and your lovely family. I'm excited to see what the future holds for you.

❤❤❤❤❤ same boat! I have gained 25 pounds back and I am struggling to keep it at that and not gain the remaining 80 back. Optavia messed up my metabolism. Can’t wait to see what you’re up to next. Love you and glad you’re back. Be blessed and safe!

Kudos to you for sharing your story. I joined Optavia after seeing a friend's success. Both my boyfiend and I lost a bunch of weight! (And I loved watching your positive vibes and meal recipes. Great inspiration!) It definitely works to lose the weight -- but maintaining and keeping it off is a whole other game. We're definitely going to try Whole 30 as other friends have benefitted from that. It puts healthy eating at the forefront rather than calorie deprivation. No matter what, I enjoy your sweet, fun personality and look forward to any videos highlighting your journey -- healthwise or thriftstore finds to treasures. Be well!

Great to see you. And BTW you look great! I am going to a nutritionist since October. I have lost 14 lbs but my goal was to reduce my A1c and cholesterol. I had it checked last month. My cholesterol went up and A1c didn't budge. I have a friend who is doing the shots for weight loss and lost 9 lbs in 3 weeks. It was depressing for me because I worked so hard. We all know when her shots stop, she will gain weight back. At least with my dietary change I lost some weight and got off almost all of my BP meds. You have to celebrate your successes no matter how small. I have strayed too from my diet change and feel horrible. Getting back into it. Thanks for sharing.

You are on the right track!! Your blood sugar will come down. Mine went from 178 to 135 in one week and I lost two pounds just eating whole food and tracking calories and balancing carbs with protein. You can do this! Thank you for watching❤️

I agree - I cannot be on board with promoting Ozempic to capture a bigger portion of the ‘obesity market’ just for the $. The alleged need for Ozempic pretty much says to me that the transformational system and habit forming is not adequate. I think the HOH are good principles perhaps applied to whole food. Best wishes for your health and happiness.

I am so with you Melissa. Optivia was not a good fit for me, and I really tried to make it work. I like eating real foods, good fats, good protein. I am 60 this year and my weight is also up, but I am working at it with real foods. Keep posting. Looking forward to what you bring to us in the days to come. Love your inspiration!!! ❤
