In Brazil "GOGO" (pronounces goh-goh) is a common way, slang, to call the Adam's apple or anything related to that area of the neck/throat. For example was common in the past to say that someone had a "Gogo de ouro" (gold gogo) if they were good singers.
Spot on! The more random the wording gets with these, the less sense they start to make with the more extravagant ones. But hey, they rhyme, so whatever 😂
When I search the content “shoulder blade” in Wikipedia, and then change the language into Romanian, it shows “omoplat”. Since Romanian & Portuguese are both Latin-originated languages, maybe “omoplata” is also one of the expressions of “shoulder blade” in Portuguese.😂
When I was newer to bjj, I would hit omoplata all the time. Later on, as i faced and was able to submit more experienced grapplers, I am able to hit gogos from the arm wrap triangle defense.
Awesome Video as a 3 month white belt very useful info to start thinking ahead rather than doing 1 move only. Props to Anya for that electric chair she must stretch a lot.
I like the donkey plata some people call it the jegueplata or something. I've never pulled it off but I like the nearside arm attacks from side control. I like the reverse omoplata and the kimura with the legs. Highly beautiful technique. I made up one called the peterplata and i'm sticking with it even though judo guys told me it's nothing and easily countered but I have pulled it off a few times. I like the baratoplata. The tarikoplata is hard to move around enough to pull it off. The gogoplata is beautiful because nick diaz did it in an mma match while giving the guy the finger or holding up his arms in celebration or something... although I don't really want to celebrate everything about nick and nate that was a highly badass moment.
That was an awesome moment for sure, because I’m pretty sure that was against Takanori Gomi. I’m not familiar with donkey-plata but I’m going to look into it for sure. 😂
@@KnightJiuJitsu Here is the video I watched about it... I don't 100% know this is the best or only way to do it but I like the idea of getting that control and then walking around the head... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HCY6YOiAwuc.html (donkeyplata). ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Rs7fnwjy3cA.html (jegueplata, different language--I actually never saw this video before today). ru-vid.comhPOGM9aFoVQ?feature=share (Jegueplata simple demonstration). There are some other videos of it too. I like the monoplata too, it seems like a really good counter when the other person gets an underhook, but I really don't understand how it works.
I actually would like help getting enough balance to do your switch to crucifix from side control or the nearside armbars from another video. I don't usually have enough balance to do that. This one (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HWoQq0aYxLk.html) I don't have the base to do the stepovers. I assume my legs are out of position and I have to walk into a better position before I step over. Also this one, your crucifix entry. ru-vid.com7RdBfsbYWeU?feature=share. I'm sure I can probably figure it out somehow but if you can help then that would be great and probably save me some time. I've been in side control and forcing him to his side, hooking to his armpit underneath his head and then if he sticks his lower arm straight out which some people do I've been sweeping it in with my leg for a crucifix. But most people don't do that, and more and more people are complaining about neck cranks when I'm setting it up so I mostly just gave up on it. Thanks for any help, appreciate it.
