You don’t loose half it’s just the way lottery is marketed that make it confusing. Think of it this way, the money you see advertised is the money that you can get if you get the money in payments over the 30 year period. However if you opt to take the huge payout, you are actually getting the real value of the money won. The 30 year payout is larger because it earns interest over years you are being paid. I hope it makes some sense.
Didn't want to comment this but one of first comments seen soon as started looking is this one so since what almost got me teared up was part of son n mother how mother was so proud of his positive change after childhood theavery from her, that's real, to reunite.
I'm winning the lottery tonight! I will be able to quit my toxic job with horrible boss and coworker. My mom needs me. She is all that I got. I will be able to see her all the time.
Exactly I prefer them,th first family r using there money like there no tomorrow, even second weddings and all,and six daughters and I'm sure they will soon want there weddings too.
They are definitely down to earth. I'm being critical, but the decorating sense of the first family isn't to my taste. It makes them happy, though, and that's what counts. They'd probably hate my decorating sensibilities. They're a nice family who love each other which is wonderful to see.
@@happydays1336I think it's cute because it's like they took any old grandparent house we'd seen that had been decorated in the early 80's and they did it exactly the same way, but new. with the tchotkes and everything. 😂
Here’s the Maths. $100,000,000 jackpot on tv means there’s been about $140,000,000 in ticket sales, the US government takes about 40% straight off the top which is why on the tv you’d only see “$100,000,000”. Then the lotto company takes half of that so the winner only gets $50,000,000. But the winner has to pay tax on that which could be as high as 50% so that leaves the lotto winners $25,000,000 from $140,000,000… that’s how many times they get robbed. It’s pretty sad.

If you still were able to keep your home from repossession, before the lottery. And have a big boat in your driveway. You were not yet homeless, nor really badly poor.
The Morrison was a nice family and deserve the money. But looking at the first home, ummmm it’s pretty darn BIG. If that it what she calls “sad,” dang she hasn’t seen sad.
My aunt and uncle hit the lottery twice. The first one was the huge one. The second was split between my aunt and a bunch of co workers. They were both working the day my aunt found out they had just won the 1st time for MILLIONS. My aunt called my uncle and told him they hit, she asked him to go home and bring her purse to her so she could go to the lottery office after work. His response: honey I’m busy at work, can’t you do it? They both still work full time jobs, still live in same house, nothing fancy. You would never know how much money they have if you didn’t know them personally.
No offense but they sound either dumb or so brainwashed by society that they think being a slave is where fulfillment comes from. They’re missing out big time.
That's the smart thing to do. If I won, i would do everything i could to keep my anonymity.. or you will have everyone you ever met + some more, knocking at your door asking for money..
That bird needs a better home. It needs to be with someone who actually cares about it and doesn’t just shrug it off saying “it was a Mother’s Day present”. She couldn’t care less about the poor thing. 😢
Ur right, none of th girls even care about th bird all they care about is that chef and that exercise man,i think th chef and body man is doing way more than they get paid for😂,poor bird.
God bless the Morrison family and all they been through. I saw one of Timothy Schultz's videos where he interviewed one of their daughters and their story is fascinating.

In Australia if you win money your name is secret and you not forced to go to media. Almost no one reviled them self when they won first price. Keeping secret is privacy!!!
The only way is to request your name to taken out of all public information like white pages, have a common name, and don’t go to the press. Even if you do want to make and statement to collect your check then cover up in a hat and facemask.
She had a broken down 🚗 car. They were going to lose their house 🏠 if they stole 1 million dollars 💸 they wouldn't of been in such bad shape like everyone was claiming 🎉
you are 100% correct . If I won, I would NEVER want a Mansion because it cost a lot of money, just with the Upkeep on the home. I am a practical person, I rather live below my means and NOT ABOVE . debt free is the best , like I am now , I worked for years , saved , invest and never lived in something fancy and drive a simple vehicle with 300,000 miles . Live like Warren Buffett. Live house and drive a vehicle that will not break the bank .
*These are the BEST KIND OF WINNERS* ! The winner that comes to mind are the couple who Moved out of their home Overnight , neighbors didn't even know about it . They kept it Quiet. And no new who the winners were and their NAMES were NEVER TOLD, NOT EVEN TO THIS DAY. These are winners who can have a quiet life and live simple .
I hope the Morrisons do Not go broke! I would invest in a smaller, less opulent house, affordable vehicles, invest in businesses etc. to ensure I make and keep more money. I wonder how much they had to give up for taxes. I hope they have accounts for their children's education etc.
It is amazing how much money it takes to maintain a house like that... their property taxes and insurance for it are probably really high these days if they still live in that house.
@@JENKEN425 Nothing wrong with them splashing out on a wedding, they did not have a nice one the first time around, so why not. Agree with the restaurant, they are the biggest gambles you can invest when starting a business.
@@JENKEN425 These are the family with the personal chef? What a waste of money. They could just eat in restaurants for much cheaper. There are even upscale delis for grand meals that can be eaten at home cheaper. This is the type of winner that goes broke and doesn't understand why.
So they won 165M took the lump sum of 102M but only got 75M after taxes!? That's insane. It's still alot, yes. But congrats to the IRS for getting the rest

In taxes from what I learn from an accountant, the federal tax is 37% they’ll withhold 24% so you’ll pay the other 13% at the end of the year, state taxes in California is 13.3% and then if you make over a million it’s another 1%. This is California tax rate for example. That’s 51.3% gone if you win in California. California lies about the 0% tax rate for lottery but it’s your state income tax you’ll have to pay. They’ll love making you read between the lines and punish you if you don’t. And anything after $13.6 million lifetime gift tax is taxed at 10-40% depending on how much you give.
Lottery winner or not, u have to respect money. People, who have never had money, often buy, big opulent homes, fancy cars, and live above their means. They don't realize, u have to pay taxes, on most everything . If u win big, get a stock broker , like Charles Schwab.Dont spend money extravagantly . U dont need a mansion.
You Are 100% Right . Respect money !!! Sallyclay1974 you are a smart lady. My plan at the age of 18 years old was long term plans , where I would work hard, go to college. Then have a full-time job. The stockbroker was my brother-in-law who taught me and entire family how to invest. Did investment, save money, and including 401K , traditional Ira , and fast forward retired early by a few years, debt free, and living below our means just NOT ABOVE.
If I ever won I would live in a small ish manageable home . No bigger than prob 1,500 square feet . On 5 acres in the woods, in the mountains. My biggest splurge would be my outdoor living area. I would have a nice pool and a jacuzzi . An awesome deck. Beautiful flowers . I would also splurge on landscapers and pool maintenance. I would still drive my Toyota Sienna I have now . I don’t like the newer models . They are starting to look like spaceships . I would prob take off in the winter months for somewhere warm and tropical . And on that trip I would just relax. No shopping or fancy restaurants. I would prob have a tummy tuck and a boob lift . Not gonna lie about that lol . But I wouldn’t change much . That’s for damn sure . The less I have material wise, the happier I am . And I would stick to that
Yes, keep your Toyota , why because Toyota holds there Value . They are good vehicles. I have a Toyota and it has 300K miles , just keep up with the Upkeep on it . Have to agree newer models aren't pretty in style ,etc . Have to agree with you ( look like spaceships ). Becareful on the changing of the body . Make sure you become Debt Free, Save money for your older age because it's going to take more $$$$$$ to live longer . Invest "some" of your money . Sounds like you have a GOOD PLAN . Just remember Uncle Sam looking for his money each year.
With the farmer that won $1M looks like the only thing his wife got was to no longer have to slop the hogs. Did she get anything out of this other than a new kitchen to work in while he's driving his convertible?
The Morrison's will be broken again REAL SOON too the way they're wastefully spending. The upkeep, insurance, and taxes on their factory "house" ought to eat up $$$ real fast too. Safe to say no one in this family knows how to plan ahead nor budget...good luck.
If they invested the net $75,000,000 they could live off of the interest alone, easily, which would be millions a year. A conservative 5% annual return, would be $3.75M, while a 10% average return, would be $7.5M/year income in interest alone.
LUS OVER 500,000 IN A RESTAURANT THAT FALIED, STUPID INVESTMENT. THOSE GIRLS ARE ALL LIVIN OFF THE L OTTERY MONEY, THRY NEED JOBS. NO ONE NEEDS A CHEF EIITHER, LOL
They've added so many numbers I'll never play again. People actually used to win a few million regularly, now 1 guy wins a billion dollars once a year. Tax on the poor is all it is
I wish they had more shows like this. I think I've seen all done so far and I'm catching up on the lottery dream home. It's enjoying to see the people's adventures.
i hope you win. if I win, I'll keep quiet . I'll save and help some of my family and donate some. I am not the type of person who goes out buy a mansion, I wouldn't feel good living in a mansion. I have a solid plan , which is practical .
They did shut it down, was too much work and not making enough money. I would just put it in a low risk index fund and let it grow, and never have to work again
One thing I never understand is the whole advice over investments, stocks, bonds, etc because if you didn’t do it beforehand with your victory, why do it now whenever you have that money that is more than enough for the rest of your life? Also I believe that if you’re getting financial advisors, accountants, and lawyers be very careful about that because if you get the wrong ones (especially the wrong accountant) then you’ll lose everything all at once.
@@lakerskid2013best to go to university yourself to teach yourself like Shane Missler. Then start off trading to get your hands dirty. The financial advisors take a huge chunk and pay you like a 401k. 8% on the safe side. Teach yourself to reap the benefits and learn to get average return on 15% instead.
One day it'll be me and my family. I just gotta start buying the lottery. Lol that precious daughter that told her mom to buy the lottery, she is their life saver, their greatest blessing. I'm glad a family in need desperately won. God bless! ❤
Phew! $27,000,000 in taxes! In the UK one wins the WHOLE amount. One only pays tax in the next year on the profits and interest the principle and investments accrue.
the Morrisons seem like a great family. I love how close they all are, and besides splurging on the house (which they can afford), they seem like they are just a normal family. Enjoy!
I am praying to win the lottery to do good in the world. Dear God and Guardian angels: my mother and my father are both sick and dying. Please protect my family. I would love to win the lottery to help kids with cancer. Please pray for me. Your prayers as a collective would help. ❤
They have made some good investments: a huge house with two pools, with all new lavish furniture, expense cars for everyone, a new restaurant, remodeling their original home, private chefs, personal trainer, 2nd wedding (cost?), that's just in the first year.
Muchas felicidades a todos los ganadores de las diferentes loterías un cordial saludo para todos ustedes aquí en este espectacular programa ATT. FREDDY ESCOBAR
Why can't people just embrace they're win, instead of spending ridiculous amounts of money, on ridiculous pointless items, that are just for show!...They were blessed with this win, right when it was needed...After the worry of almost losing, what they worked hard for, one would think, the threat, would have made them humble enough to look seriously at how not to go down that road again!...I'm just saying...Great for them both and their daughter's...I just know, spend to get a float, then spend because you can, then buy that nice moderate home to fit all, the expensive, but practical vehicles, a practical vehicle and modest home for each child, then make that money, make you more money!...It's not rocket science!
Wow beautiful home 🏠 im in Canada and i think about how expensive it would be here just to heat it in the winter loll cleaning well i guess they have someone to do it for them. So as cutting the grass and the maintenance... Etc... Thats a lot of money. I know they have 75 million but its not and endless pot of money. I hope they will continue living like this for the rest of their lives. They deserve it. ❤
I really hope I am wrong, but I cannot see Morrissons investing the money wisely and I think in few years, if they keep going the way they do, they will be back at the same original place in the same hardships. Such nice people, I hope they get advice on how to make good financial decisions.
Angel Morrison was interviewed by Timothy Schultz another lottery winner with his own channel recently. Mary gives credit to fortune because of her feng shui pond but Angel is exactly an Angel as well suggesting she buy a ticket.
