Thanks so much for all the work you do to record and share you Elan project. An inspiration and education to me as I work on recommissioning my own S3. Following your lead on the Nodiz, but sticking with DCOEs for now. Qu. Some weeks back you mentioned the idea of getting your suspension measured and set up. Did you ever do that?
One urgent word of advice re the clutch. If you buy a kit with a new bearing, you would be well advised to tread very carefully. The bearings being sold are of the worst quality imaginable. All the Lotus people seem to be selling the same rubbish, and many of my Elan friends have fitted these bearings that came with a 3 piece clutch kit only to have them fail almost immediately. If you intend to replace the bearing, try to find a genuine FoMoCo one if you can, or a NOS quality bearing by Q.H or SKF. If you already have a genuine FoMoCo one in, and it is in good condition, it would be better to leave that in rather than replace it with the Chineseum one. Beware the ChinaTown curse!
Would this be a good time to deal with the other remaining t/c bad design item the water pump by either going modular replacement front cover or electric pump with temperature controls (Davies Craig)?
