Lou Ferrigno Cochlear Implant Activation 

I had ear infections as an infant, (both of my parents smoked) . I had my tonsils taken out at age 5, then shortly afterward I got the measles. So I have been deaf in one ear since 1960. Because of my hearing issues, I suffered from speech impediments. Luckily my school system offered speech therapy and took it until grade 11. Then in my mid-thirties, I developed tinnitus. I been wavering about implementation for years. Seeing Lou getting an implant at his age gives me hope and confirms my desire to go ahead and see if I can get help. Thank you, Lou!

There's definitely some good parts about living in the 50s-60s-70s-80s but on the downside a guy like him goes most of his life waiting for technology like this to be invented, but I'm happy for him to get to experience better hearing. I had ear infections a couple of times to the point that it made my ear clogged enough that I couldn't hear and it was a scary feeling, luckily though when it reached that point it clears up for me in 2-3 days. I haven't had an ear infection for a while but I got them every couple months for a year or two, when I grew my hair out longer I would get water in my ears sometimes which usually caused the infection but I've adjusted to tilt my head accordingly to keep water from getting in my ear. I keep amoxicillin handy now just incase it does happen again so I can clear up the infection before it gets to that point

I'm using hearing aids about 6 years now. I know how emotional it is, when get back hearing. I hope, someday there can be transplantation of ears like a heart transplantation today.

I have zero hearing in my left ear. I tried adapting to single sided hearing, but find it harder than I imagined. I am looking into getting a cochlear implant. Thanks for the information. I am 73 .
