It's true. Rizzo was trying to be professional and and answer reasonable questions. Then you got this interviewer trying to get his blood boiling. I'd walk out too if I was him.
You think short tempered is a good trait for a cop? You think due process and investigation of facts and evidence always occurs? If you don't know if something is true do you care to know?
Yeah exactly. You can take any elected official anywhere, compile negative opinions from various people and ask him to answer to all of them. It isn't really an interview. And the interviewer doesn't even have the tact to mix it up. It's just a graceless bludgeoning. I'm glad he walked out too and kept it dignified.

Frank Rizzo was the MAN! Lifelong Philadelphian here. He was, is, and will always be a legend. Great, great, man. Crime rates were SMASHED under his tenure. Lowest they'd been in a long time and since. He kept the streets safe and that's what a good mayor does. Wish he was still alive today...
I agree, had my face punched back in 1973, Philly Cops. I was a young a'hole and deserved it. Ultimately laughed about and paid a 25 buck fine and 12 hrs. in the roundhose. Taught me a lesson I never forgot.
I was very young when Mr. Rizzo was Mayor. I do remember my parents and other people speaking highly of him and the job he was doing. In researching Mr. Rizzo I can say that like many figures in history, he was the right person at the right time. If cities today had a mayor like Mr.Rizzo, I feel they would be better places to live. Unfortunately, I doubt a man like Mr. Rizzo would be elected today. Remember we’re talking 50 years ago. I’m not saying everything he did was right. I’m not saying his views and attitudes on everything we’re correct. What I’m saying is Law and Order needs to be restored to cities like New York, Philadelphia, LA, Detroit, San Francisco, etc. unfortunately, I don’t think we’ll see it. Not in today’s age of Political Correctness.

Philly police are getting 250 times more funding than the 1970's, and they can only solve 2-3% of murders. Law enforcement is grossly incompetent and a drain on community and city funding. NY city taxpayers had to pay out over 1 billion in settlements from lawsuits the NYPD caused through obscenely abusive and negligent behavior. Also violent crime is less than half of what it was in the 1970s. So your paranoia and manufactured despair over the "lawlessness" today is an ignorant delusion. 95% of crime is a product of economic depression and untreated mental illness. Both of these issues can be easily solved through social programs, higher funding for public education, and a socialized healthcare system like every other 1st world nation has. Instead, you want a racist mayor and a militarized police state. This is why boomers are the worst and most vile generation.

I can only tell you about Frank Rizzo from experience.While working for The Phillies I came in contact with him while he was hosting a show on WCAU Radio and would come to host the WCAU Radio Superbox 28 each week.Frank was nothing but professional to me every time we met.

Hit the nail on the head, he’s the only real Mayor we ever had and you know why? He was a real blue collar Philadelphian who wasn’t raised counting money all his life. My God how we could use a man like him now in this disaster of a city.
Frank was a good man, sure he was hard but that’s what people need, it takes a wolf to catch a wolf but now we have sheep for public officials trying to catch the wolves. 560 murders last year, carjacking through the roof, people injecting heroin in broad daylight in the streets. Sheriff Bufurd Pusser was treated the same way (walking tall). He cleans up a brutal/corrupt county and when the job is seemingly done. But the people make a 180 and say we no longer need your type/style of law enforcement (ignoring the hell he went thru just clean up the county).
Even if you don’t like him, he was right for walking out. The entire point of the interview was to dress him down in front of the camera, over and over again. Why continue to sit there with someone whose entire intention is to make you look bad?
What is really needed is his attitude be prevalent amongst every parenting adult in any household. Each household takes care of their own business, we’d all be better off collectively.
Frank Rizzo was thee best mayor Philly ever had. He was no angel, perhaps an angel with a dirty face, but he was a man of his word, and you could depend on him.

Born in Phila 1960.. grew up in the Frank Rizzo era and he was the best.. I had uncles that were Phila cops, they loved him too.. contrary to what many said the good black folk in phila loved him as well for cleaning up their neighborhoods.. Black, white or indifferent he would break up any crum bum gang of hoodlums up to no good. He was tough during tough times.
I remember when he died, the outpouring of grief amongst the black community which surprised me because I was always told what a racist he was. He loved "Phluffia"

Rizzo is one of the many today who faked his own death to successfully become Sheriff Joe Arpaio. If you don't believe it just compare the two. They are alike in every way. He was controversial in Philly and the same in Phoenix. Personally I love them both.

If Rizzo is this bad, and Gordon is this good, this is extraordinary. And I’ll give both men the benefit of the doubt. If Rizzo’s rep precedes him, then he can’t deny the questions if they’re as fair as possible.
