I always thought of Lou Rawls as a crooner of my parent’s generation until I heard this song come on at a bar. Everyone was bopping, nodding their heads, snapping their fingers, banging out time on the bar. I was among a lot of groovy people and it was a few moments of bliss on a hot summer day in Philadelphia
Acapulco, Tabasco Beach, 1981, cervezas, amigos, playa, alberca, todo el día desde las 12 am hasta que se pone el sol. Como música de fondo que se repite todo el tiempo ¡Lou Rawls¡¡¡¡

As a young kid, as young as I can remember. This was my favorite album. I’m listening right now to the same vinyl I listened to then and I’m 47 now. I remember making my parents get this album on 8-track too for our rides to Lake George. They are all gone now. But I still have this same record to listen to and I still love it.
Love Mr. Lou Rawls music catalog. The Sound of Philly will always be magical. The instruments and vocals from each artist and band member was amazing. Cheers 🥂 to the entire production team who are all musical geniuses. ❤❤❤ Thom Bell and Gamble and Huff. Also, McFadden and Whitehead. Excellent Team Leaders
This is a new song for me. I love it. I was looking for a song of his & couldn't find it in the list. It is one where he talks about the garbage strike, & also when you were told to do something, you did it.Then he sings. I don't know the name of it, but it's good. I I've his talking & singing voice.
It's hard to find friends that's groovy people today and this society and I'm 57 it's hard and harder to find groovy people especially cool people that you can sit down and just have a groovy conversation with
Same back in the early '90s I taped the episode of TNT and would constantly play the part where the song came on over and over again I used to sing this song all the time back then. From what I understand this song was based on Lou's real life experiences. He had a lot of friends who are white but he also had a lot of white people who didn't like him just because of his skin color. I'm proud to say, I am one of the "groovy people" and if I had known Lou in real life we would have definitely been friends.
"Sheeeeeeiiiiiit!"-Clay Davis,"The Wire", to whom of the singularly brilliant Lester Freamon, heading back to the dollhouse, never appropriated money fromt the UznCF
This song is very similar in orchestration, arrangement, structure and theme to the Ronnie Dyson song "[I Like Being] Close to You"--written by Chuck Jackson and Marvin Yancy. Take a listen to Dyson and see.
