I was a rock musician in the 80's big band days (keyboards and guitar) and we LOVED Loudness. Japan represented in the day with them.

I just met a Japanese dude in Toronto today who was visiting on vacation(you don't see many Japanese born metalheads here) and when I mentioned that I'm a fan of Loudness his face just lit up with excitement, as they are very well known amongst the metalheads there as I'm told, but not so much in the rest of the world. Truly unappreciated and underratred guitarist with awesome solo work as well in addition to what he has done with Loudness!

Saw these guys with Crue back in '85 here in Pennsylvania ( Allentown Fairgrounds) . People still talk about how they kicked ass with the limited stage room Motley Crue left them lol.

Great guitar tone, the way he uses his right hand to create artificial harmonics really helps the midrange frequencies to stand out. Literally, the tone is in his fingers and that’s the oldest cliche going but it’s really true in this case. Akira plays pinch harmonics with everything: chords, lead melodies, single note riffs, power chords. His sound is very unique and he plays with great technique for a player who came up in an era where shred guitar was relatively new…

@jarekuXhide I was friends with a Japanese exchange student about 5 years ago. Wataru said that the hardest parts of learning English were word order (in Japanese "I opened the door" would be "I door open do (past)") and articles (Japanese has no "a" or "the" or "it", and no plurals). It's also VERY hard to get a native Japanese person to say "No" because they think it's rude to say no without checking. They might say "let me think about it", but the meaning is usually No.

@jacktheguitarman actually he's right. look at where the microphone next to the Blackstar is actually pointed... sitting on top of the Blackstar is this tiny little Marshall MG amp. that's what he's playing out of... haha.
@TylerTeeple
@TylerTeeple 12 лет назад
Hes playing out of the Blackstar because -There's no mic cable plugged into the SM58 -You can tell its the camera audio (the sound isnt focused, as well as you can hear his pick hitting the strings and when using the pickup selector) -That's not what a Mic'ed amp sounds like -That's not what a Marshall sounds like -Hes not plugged in to the marshall

@jarekuXhide There is no V either-- they adapted it from B. It makes no sense to non-Japanese speakers, but the language never needed it.
@KirneH004
@KirneH004 13 лет назад
@jarekuXhide Plurals are words that mean more than one thing-- men, cats, buildings, etc. Japanese sentences will say man, cat, building, but the words around it will show there's more than one. One last thing-- it's easier for a Japanese person to learn Spanish and a Spanish/Mexican person to learn Japanese than it is for English speakers to learn Japanese and Japanese to learn English, because a lot of Spanish and Japanese letters sound the same :)

Nice to see him featured, but it's a shame that most people here in the US only seem to know this song and the "Thunder In The East" album, when the band released material that was arguably far superior to it on the four albums they put out in Japan before "Thunder." And they have put out plenty of solid albums since. In fact, I've recently gone down a Japanese metal rabbit hole and found a whole bunch of other amazing bands. Doom, Sigh, Shellshock...
@knightfall9394
@knightfall9394 2 месяца назад
No one in the US prior to thunder in the east being released was gonna pay the prices for those imports. Ive read stories from guys who heard their earlier stuff and said it was great musically, but the Japanese lyrics were kind of a turn off or at least hard to get past
