Legends are born but legends never die. Louie Simmons lives on through the strength he developed in others. A cherished conversation with the Westside Barbell founder just weeks before he passed is an honor…and one we are stoked to share with you.
Louie Simmons changed lifting. His methodology, his equipment, his attitude. His home of freakishly strong men and women is a mecca in the heart of Ohio. His spirit continues to light the fire in so many who pull and push every day.

A great mind for all things lifting. The best I think is that Louie was a self-made man. He didn't spend years in grad school to read about kinesiology or biomechanics - he just came up with really good ideas and then tested them with his crews. A vast amount of knowledge that he built up during his lifetime. Folks may not have agreed with him or even liked him, but there is no doubt about the impact he had.

Applies to his accomplishments in the gym too iirc he had to work smarter/harder to get his numbers up from pretty early on

Constructive criticism: Great vid, content etc…..Change your mic set up. It’s super distracting. Keep up the good work and guests.👍

Good video, but click bait title. It doesn't mention Hitt or stretching making you weak.

Louie addresses those two things in another video but he's not talking about HIIT, he's talking about HIT. HIIT is, obviously, high intensity interval training. HIT is high intensity training, made popular by Arthur Jones and his Nautilus gyms. Mike Menzer and Dorian Yates used HIT.

Did Louie's kidney problems make it a lot tougher for him to hold muscle? I know he took testosterone til the day he died, but he almost looked like your average 70 year old physique-wise. He is just an example of how the body adapts to exogenous test?

Not sure if you are trolling and trying to be an a-hole or just dumb, but his heart failed. And they could not fix the broken valve b/c he was allergic to the anesthetic. He had a machine doing the work of the valve. However, the systemic edema destroys everything and he ended up in heart failure.
