There must have been 3 billion dollars worth of talent on that stage during this production. Watching Lous Armstrong and Danny Kaye is like seeing Michelangelo sculpt and Da Vinci paint. A true template for all others to follow.

If you never saw this film (The Five Pennies), this scene is the best, but the movie itself will have you in tears.

Holy Cow! This is one of the most AMAZING duets from two of the most talented performers in Hollywood history!! Armstrong and Danny Kaye were great on their own...but put them together here....the result is pure magic! I'm sure you're both now making the angels smile in Heaven. :))

September 2023. I just watched A song is born with these two fabulous gentlemen,and many others in it, last night! A fabulous movie with an incredible line up. Awesome music too! Nothing nowadays comes close.

I have to admit it is a bit of a struggle for me to square that. I used to watch these shows when I was ten years old, and they were already almost 20 years old then. We only had a black and white tv, so if they were in color, I didn't know. I was mesmerized by the passion, the energy and the talent. I would become swept away imagining myself there when it was happening, dancing with them.

I always loved to watch Danny Kaye..he had a talent to make you smile and cheer you up in his movies. Indeed those were beautiful times !

This was One of the first movies about Trumpet players that I Saw as a Young Man. This movie was inspirational in my development as a young Trumpet player. There were other memorable movies that I watched, also like Kirk Douglas in the man with a horn and the often overlooked Sammy Davis Jr in a Man called Adam.
