I think he was playing the Alembic on this song. This is not a MM sound. And this is Louis. Sounds like he was recording right into the board with no preamp.

As a bass player, I have my reasons but I don't think this is the actual track of Mr Johnson playing bass. As a kid and young bass player, I listened to the Brother's Johnson daily. Don't get me wrong; it's a good recording but I don't think that it's from the recording of "Strawberry Letter 23"

Long live Louis.....he has left us.....but he will never fade. He is awesome.
