I initially brought up Americans as a hypothesis that maybe people find it awkward because the Brits have a different sense of humor and other nuances in how they interact. Also I can't speak as much on other countries, because I don't live in them and didn't want my accusations to exceed my experiences. It's also true that I am an outlier in terms of being outspoken and amount of bad days had. In the case it was not, I think the rest of what I said probably answers whatever genuine inquiry it was making.
