+Brendan Donaghy i think the system as many top coaches is moot to the positional play and the quality of the players implementing....LVG problems are that Man Utd are not good enough to play like munich or barca and keep the ball whilst playing at such a tempo that it will break down 11 players behind a ball so in a sense playing 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 or 3-4-1-2 might help in some games vs certain strategies but in reality to play this way he needs the quality to play this system.....jesse lingaard in proving a decent young player but hes in the side because hes the only other player aside martial who has pace and can offer width to give central players time and space to control........then the mids as highlighted above arent dominant enough like at barca or munich......then when rooney has been out of form no one has been chipping in .....so for me its square pegs in round holes to a degree

+glen130182 Love your vids. Do you think our defence is good enough to play a more open style of football? Also its hard to play van gaals style without competent full backs. I think we should play more in the transition, try to score the 1st goal and then revert to the maintenance phase that way we limit our weaknesses. Whats your opinion?

i think they need a player like rio ferdinand....but defenders of his quality are in rare supply....but they need a defender who can defend...has pace, reads the game but who can play ball!! the one thing i feels at the moment is that man utd need to take more risks in there play...give players more license in the final third to be creative and impose themselves on the opposition....man utd used to be feared because of this

+The Inverted Fullback Am I right to say that in the Arsenal game, United did focus more on transition, just like what you have suggested? And that was what gives them the win? I felt that they have let Arsenal penetrate too deep, too often, but United seemed to be more certain on what to do during transitions compared than if they build attacks from the back. I'm not sure if i'm right, but United seemed to deliberately create these transition scenarios? Risky, but it worked. Could you give your thoughts on this?

+Pratik Manghwani tough one because the player i would buy might not fit lvg philsophy but i feel lukaku is ideal....he would give united a focal point to go over teams to give them variety...hes a defenders nightmare and a proven goal scorer in the prem....john stones for a complete defender hes so composed on the ball so seems ideal....and then another attacking player with pace maybe mane who played more on the flanks for salzburg under schmidt and was very successful

I think both are aging and not as quick and as mobile at times as the premier league needs......but either one of them along side a quick dynamic agile play-making dcm works for me....schweini has just started signs of settling form wise in the prem....off course the main prob for both is that they are permanently injured
