Just for those that haven't noticed: the LV monogrammed canvas (in fact all the canvas) on the vintage bags before 1990 is twice as thick as the one LV used today. VERY STURDY compared to the paper thin canvas of the bags today.Its no wonder so many buy the preloved vintage versions instead!!
Your bag is so gorgeous! I just received mine today. It was made in France, 1998 so the leather has a very beautiful patina like yours. I prefer classic and vintage piece than brand new. I dont know. I just don’t like the color of the brand new vachetta leather. Plus the price is just ridiculous these days! Love all your videos! xx

Without much thought, the 40 seems a bit big for a handbag, and a bit small for a duffle, so was there something specific you had in mind? Just curious, maybe I need one too, LoL! (BTW, you had me immediately looking at ebay for vintage 40's just because this project looks so fun/rewarding!)
Hahah I think I just worked my way up so I had 25 first then 30 then 35 then wanted to try slightly bigger 😊😂the best really is 30 I think but they are all gorgeous in there own way 😍
I thoroughly washed my vintage LV Speedy 40 Jan 1995 today. I got it last week for a ridiculously low price because the lady didn't know anything about the bag and LV. I filled a soap foam jar with water and 4 tablespoons of Castile soap. It foams nicely, cleans everything on the bag and cleans and conditions the leather. I let the bag dry after wiping with a damp clean cloth, oiled the leather with a 12 oil conditioning lotion. Cleaned any scuff white marks on the vinyl with alcohol on ear buds, polished the brass with Tarn X and wiped with a dry cloth, and used my Dremel brass miniature wheel on the zipper and pull and brass handle holders. It looks brand new. I oiled the zipper. I then gave the vinyl 2 coats of no buildup floor wax to seal, protect and waterproof. It will wash off with Castile soap if needed, let it set a few minutes and wipe the vinyl down. But, the wax gives the vinyl a very light sheen. The bag, in great condition when I got it as if it had been in storage, looks amazing now. It doesn't look almost 30 years old.

I appreciate the tips and will definitely use them was cleaning up my old Cabas piano that really needs a lot of work. I wish I had purchased a speedy years ago because it seems to me that it was a better style bag, absolutely never goes out of style, and doesn't have as much for shedding places that could get dirty and discolored like The Compass piano. I kind of figure if you use baby wipes on the canvas only and then leather products on the leather pieces, I don't see why it would be an issue. If you were to use baby wipes on the leather, I would highly recommend using a conditioner afterwards as baby wipes dry out the leather. Great video I enjoyed learning new techniques!

Louis Vuitton site says just to use a damp soft towel and soap. Don't use anything else. What works is slight damp cloth and use Zote soap, slightly damp. It might be nice in the short run but eventually all those chemicals will catch up.

Jennifer McMillan I've had luck with small charcoal pouches that can be placed inside an LV bag without damaging the lining. For tougher odors I'll take a plastic bag filled with paper towels and sprayed with Meguiars Odor Eliminator. Leave the ziplock bag open a bit and set inside your ha drag with it zipped closed for two days. There are other methods I haven't tried but these two seem to be pretty good.
I put laundry dryer sheets in the LV bags, works wonders!!! - I put one in every pocket and two in the main compartment :) I use the scented ones, vanilla and the smell fads away.

WARNING!!! Be very careful with the Brasso, I recently cleaned my bag, the best advice is to use painters tape to cover up the leather around the areas you are applying the Brasso to. I, however, did not think about the actual fabric that the teeth of the zipper are attached to. Brasso has a bleaching effect on fabric. There are a few spots I got the Brasso on when cleaning the zipper, almost unavoidable unless extremely careful, I cleaned the Brasso off the fabric with a baby wipe but I have noticed those areas have light spots, not completely bleached but there is light spots. To hide this I put coconut oil on a cotton swab and ran it along the fabric part of the zipper, it makes the fabric look dark brown again.
Yes the older they are and the more use they've had the darker the handles go you can't really lighten them ,you can wipe them over with leather cleaner ,if you really want to you can have new handles fitted at LV and then they would be really light again ,hope that makes sense hahh x
It's a hard one but I don't think u can beat fresh air lots of fresh air even if u carefully hang it on your washing line I did that with one of mine lol ,it does help x
how did you get rid of the green stuff? I heard it's mold and I have some on my speedy 30 that's 12 years old. I tried cleaning it, but it isn't removing fully. Now that I know its mold it makes me sick to use.
Hi you could try spraying it very carefully with furniture polish and slide the zip up and down a few times to work the polish in and then hopefully it should glide better 😊
Mrs Pinky - Crazy Bag Lady just hoping there’s a way to brighten or lighten the vintage bags when they look like they are getting almost black. I’ve recently gotten a vintage monogram and it’s just a dark dull look. Went over it with alcohol free wipes and nothing came off, so I guess she’s just aged and can’t be brightened. YES, they hot stamp for free here in the USA. You might want to purchase a leather ID tag, having "lost" the original.
