We traveled to Louisville, Kentucky. While exploring downtown I discovered several interesting statues and many beautiful, old buildings. I also visited the Cave Hill Cemetery, in which two of the most remarkable men in history are buried.
We stayed at the Louisville Drury Inn

Always a joy to see someone come to Louisville, pronounce the name funny, and see which parts of the city they went to. Thing about this city is, much like the weather, if you go a few minutes in any direction you're in a whole new world. Each neighborhood and vibe changes every 2 blocks around here. You'll go from our slums to a great part of town to an industrial park to a slum to a great part of town all in a 5 minute drive down one street.

Louisville has some AMAZING neighborhoods...The Highlands being one of the most amaziing...maybe potentially in all of the United States. Very walkable and just so cool. A real gem in the USA which is predominately defined by predominately car culture and downright hostile to walkable neighborhoods. Louisville in general is a cool city.

When I moved back to my native Denver Colorado, I went into culture shock and have been depressed ever since. I LOVED Louisville! I still call it my home. Oh, I actually saw the funeral procession when the Cornell Sanders was about to be buried. Lot's of mourners. Cave hill cemetery is so gorgeous it's amazing that its a cemetery. Yep, my hometown. Left at 18 and never returned save for short visits. Loved your observations. I laughed a lot at those who commented about the Louisvilles' culture/condition/and attitude. One comment accurately highlighted how people interact with their experiences in Louisville by social class, which isn't as much economic as based on where you live in the County. It was spot on in that there is a core of poverty but there are tons of positive things as well as negatives that make any city it's all up to the individual. Love your Vlogs as they touch so many of the places I've been and those I've lived in. Currently adapting to Hutto, Texas after living in the Peoples Republic of Illinois, the town was nice but the State needs massive help. I was just East of St. Louis and cringed seeing you enter an alleyway in downtown St. Louis. I was an armed officer and would never have done that without backup. Glad you have a cluster of guardian angels riding with you. Please try and get to Frankfort Kentucky, It will surprise you as its principal reason for existing is as the State Capital. Small and sleepy town the last time I was there.

17:35 Muhammad Ali Blvd used to be called West Chestnut Street, and was formerly filled with black-owned local shops and grocers. Unfortunately, it was turned into a long wide road and the expansion closed a lot of those businesses down. Basically that entire neighborhood became displaced. Another thing worth noting is that you missed Old Louisville, the largest collection of Victorian architecture in the world outside of Europe. Right by the UL campus, which has one of two or three original copies of The Thinker on display. If you go back, you might wanna check those spots out!

My wife and I love your videos - just found them yesterday! Not to be too picky but the first, and original, fried chicken, restaurant that Harlan Sanders had was in Corbin, KY. It still operates and is the Harlan Sanders Cafe, across from where he had a gas station - and it is a KFC restaurant and owned by Yum Brands. You are correct that the first Franchise restaurant was in SLC. We appreciate that you like KY. I only moved here 21 years ago from MA (Southshore) and find it so as well. Great place to visit, nice place to live, in most areas - that's about as good as it gets these days. If you visit "Coal Country" in the eastern part of the state you can see some of the same as you videoed in Pine Bluff, etc. In fact, you can see that in most areas of this country now: abandoned farms, houses, factories and businesses. We travel exclusively by car as we Geocache® for exercise and fun. It can get depressing, but then there are areas like Louisville, Frankfort - and I'm surprised that you missed Paducah - a great River city with still a lot happening for its' people. Thanks for the great content. Jim & Beth Roberts Hopkinsville, KY

But we usually went up Foreman Ln. as we lived on Oakmont Dr. back then, crossing over Blue Lick Rd. and coming out beside (I think) Ehrler's Dairy. There was no on ramp to I-65 South yet. If you wanted to go South you either had to go up to Fern Valley Rd, or go South to Shepherdsville and get on there at the toll booth, lol. I went to Blake Elementary and my brother went first to TT Knight and then Southern. I remember in 4th grade being bussed downtown to McFerrin when it was in the old building on or close to Central Ave. By the end of 5th grade I was living in Bullitt Co. and ready to start Hebron in 6th. @@Rebel9668 I remember some of what you mentioned about Okolona. Back in the fifties and sixties (and probably farther back) Erhler's Dairy was located on the old Outer Loop where it crossed Preston highway. Not right at the intersection but very close, on the west side of the intersection. If you had been traveling south on Preston highway and turned right onto the Outer Loop Erhler's would have been on your left about 100 feet or so. Maybe a little farther. I moved to NC before they moved to Bluelick Rd. I remember the A&P and Tooheys and the White Castle. So much has changed. I attended Okolona Elementary School until the sixth grade and then I had to go to a new elementary school they had just built, for my sixth grade year. It is called Hartstern Elementary School and it is closer to our house. I was in the first graduating class of Hartstern Elementary School but I wanted to stay at Okolona Elementary School. Then I attended, and graduated from, Southern High School class of 1976. I can't believe how long ago that has been. Oh yeah, I remember Porter Paint, too. My family moved to Okolona in September, 1959. Feels like 100 years ago. We lived in the same general area as the Speedway across from the Jefferson Mall. I'm from the Louisville area and I say it both ways. It is kinda funny when I see people on tv trying to figure out how to say it. It's a good city. Everyone can express their self and be respected by others even if they don't agree with your opinion. At least that is the way it used to be. I'm not sure exactly how it is now because I lived out of state for a long time. In the video he showed us the old Kentucky Home Life Building, that was where I got my first job after high school. I was a legal secretary and I would have a chef's salad and iced tea delivered to me everyday for lunch, from a restaurant that was very close by. At that time, the Courthouse was directly across the street from the building where I worked and I would walk over there and file court documents. The office I worked in was on the floor just below the top floor. I can't remember how many floors there are. It was so good to see it in the video. Well, I guess I should stop now. The video just brought back a lot of memories. Take care and God bless you and yours. ✝️💟🙂🇺🇲

Oh yeah, I meant to mention that I started working there in late 1975 but went to another job the following summer. I really miss my first job, probably never should have left it. I think there is also a park just a little bit south of the city proper called The Daniel Boone Forest or something similar to that. Also, approximately 30 miles southeast of Louisville is the Historic town of Bardstown . There is an Historic Tavern there named the Talbot (?) Tavern Inn which has an historically significant past. There is also a beautiful plantation home called Federal Hill where it is said a famous songwriter whose last name is Foster (can't remember his first name right now) wrote the famous song "I Dream of Jeannie With the Light Brown Hair" while visiting there. There is more to learn about the home, as well. There are famous distilleries in the area around Bardstown. Louisville has a fantastic library, too. I'm sure there are other interesting things to see and do in and around Louisville but I have been gone so long I have forgotten some of them. I just remembered it is Stephen Foster who wrote that song I mentioned while staying at Federal Hill in Bardstown. I guess you just aren't interested in any of the things I mentioned here.
