this was a HELLUVA Lousiville Team. I grew up in DC and a Georgetown fan (dad was an alum), but Louisville was ALWAYS Final Four or bust loaded under the great Denny Crum. Those seniors on this squad played so many bigtime games
I believe the three point line was put in the next year. This was Louisville best squad as a whole until Patino arrived. I was a freshman in high school during this season.
Around the 54:00 mark Kimbro throws a hard elbow at Redden and like dislocates his arm and just melts to the floor. That Redden was a strong man, the foul was intentional and wrong, but it sent a message. Also the UL press just overwhelmed LSU midway through the 2nd half. GO CARDS!
The last men's final 4 not in a dome and the last without the three point shot. The game hasn't been as good since. The 3-point line has been a distraction and at final fours, 70 percent of the fans present have to watch on their Ipads to see the game.
there were quite a few not in a dome after this. Kansas basically won at home in 88. and the worst ever was in the Medowlands in Jersey in 99. THAT prompted the Dome only rule lol.
This should have been UL/UK, almost 25 years before it actually happened. But, then again, you can't beat two teams four times in the same season, can you, BBN? ;-)
