I haven't edited anything in like 8 years, didn't know what this Loupedeck thing was for anyway. I thought it looked cool so I got interested. But you definitely kept me interested in the video, super well made and high quality, subbed.
I'm 3 days into your videos. Just got back into the serious hardware game. You are the truth! From KB, to CT and dam so much more. So i had to click on the bell. So keep them comin. Like Dr. Dre say's Keep the bells ringing!
Man really appreciate the effort into checking out resolve aswell! Was legit looking to pickup to use with grading in resolve but also premiere, didn't realise it wouldn't work with their colour wheels... Dodged a loss there, thanks ☺
Colour grading with hardware controls looks incredible. I didn't even know this type of product existed; now its number 37 on the list of "things i don't need or afford yet but someday i will"
This thing is amazing. On the CT in FCPx, the "4" button is the default to mark the in point of a clip and the "5" button sets the out point. I've customized the "5" to set the out point of the clip, mark that clip as a favourite and then append that favourite clip to my timeline, all with one button press! It saves SOOOO much time when I'm going through 6-8 hours of wedding footage. The zoom in/out function with the small knob works like a charm and pushing the knob is a "zoom to fit" function. One thing you said was you keep it on the left side of your keyboard, but I've done the opposite and put it on the right side. I have it set up so well for my workflow that I rarely even touch my mouse anymore. From keyboard shortcuts to the CT profile I'm using, it almost makes my mouse the unneeded hardware.
Hey Sean.. I am a new editor using Final Cut Pro X. I am functional but still alot to learn. Do you think the Loupedeck is too advanced for me or do you think it''ll help my workflow and I will figure it out pretty quickly? Thanks in advance!
@@joshuabernstein1259 If you still have a lot to learn, I would say avoid the Loupedeck until you've become very proficient with developing your editing style, and then buy one.
I was glad you brought up the necessity when talking streamlabs. I have a Stream Deck XL and that has everything I really need (besides complete audio control settings). Good review! Thx!
So I subbed to you not to to long ago because I was like "that was great review and man what great damn beard". But really enjoy the feeling of unbiasedness (is that a word?) and confidence. Thanks Brian.
This seems like a bigger streamdeck xl lol. That being said couple this with a stream deck, and bam. Complete and total control of both your twitch channel and editing videos for your RU-vid channel.
I have never edited a video in my life, and it's pretty likely that I never will. I think I still want one of these though... also the new Rama M50-A, angled planck for the win.
Your beard and mustache look sick, you really put work intro it. Youre known for tech, but you should be know for you AWSOME beard. It just look great. Not to mention your great videos
15 years in video editing and can say yes it is looking very good, functional but NOT ERGONOMIC. Soon I will show you what can call ergonomic.Anyway Brian you doing your job great. Video editing also great!
Coming from the future, I'm enjoying the Loupedeck Live. It won't be as good for video editing since it's missing the big jog dial, but it's a nice all-arounder and quite a step up from the Elgato Stream Deck I was using before. I was previously using MIDI2LR with a Behringer XTouch Mini to do Lightroom edits and loved it. This works even better and will cover what I was doing with both the XTouch Mini and the Stream Deck. I got the Loupedeck Live yesterday and today I sold my Stream Deck - no looking back.
I am doing a lot of motion design work in Blender and After Effects and would absolutely love to have knobs to adjust volume especially, since I need to press several keys before I have to pain my way through sliding with my mouse for volume. I found the stream decks responsiveness to be perfect for opening very very specific folders - textures, models, sound effects, music scores, etc etc. This could then be used to replace my logitech G15 for left hand macro keys I've been looking at this for a while and your review had me sold, thanks!
After seeing a very critical review of the Loupedeck CT and remembering how sponsor perks “would never affect my review” as BadSeedTech likes to say, I’m very surprised at how positive this review is and how little of the flaws are covered. You kinda have to think if he’s affected by sponsor comp.
I tried the CT for a week vs. my Loupdeck+ and I prefer the + all day. The CT has a lag and the filtering thru pages slows things down. I really wanted to like it, but for professionals I'd suggest the +
I'm casually watching and then you say "the main thing I use my keyboard for is to zoom in and zoom out of my timeline..." and I perked up instantly. I used to use a Razer mouse and Shuttlepro V2 and the Razer mouse wheel could be programmed to zoom in and zoom out. But Synapse is absolute shite on Mac so I ended up moving to a Corsair which I love. However the scroll wheel on the Corsair won't zoom in/zoom out and the Shuttle can't do it efficiently. I never realized how often I'm constantly zooming in and zooming out of the timeline. I ended up getting a Tour Box which is a great tool. The CT now has my attention, but damn, $550 is steeeeep. I edit documentaries full time and just don't know if I'll get enough added speed and functionality out of the CT to make it worth almost $600.
Looks really nice but, for the price, it's cheaper to buy a 1080p 240hz, 1440p 144hz, or 4k 60hz monitor for editing or whatever else and a logitech wireless mouse with infinite scroll wheel. You can also just use streamlabs mobile as a little stream deck if need be. Seems good and a bit more compact than the alternative but definitely not an essential.
I did have just 1 question. For streaming purposes how does it compare to the Elgato Streamdeck? I would assume that the dial Knobs would work better for sound control on spotify, or discord chat, or even game audio with being able to adjust these things on the fly with the knobs... as to where the streamdeck doesnt offer them. I was just curious your opinion on it, and would it beat the streamdeck in that aspect to you?+
I have a question. I've been looking at a GoXLR for the individual sound mixer capabilities. Is this something that this device would be able to do as well? I don't really need the mic offerings from the GoXLR but I would be interested in the macros and native video editing capabilities. Having sound mixer would make it a definite buy for me.
My colleague bought one of these as soon as they came out. The second I pushed one of those regular buttons it broke off, turns out they're really easy to break if you push them on a corner. They might have fixed this in later revisions? My other colleague came in a second later and almost did the same thing again.. They're really easy to glue back on, but the mounting mechanism really wasn't great. Too bad his wasn't a review unit :(
Thanks very much for this review. Right now I use the ShuttlePro, which is bare bones. I'm actually finding that one of my main hangups is being able to scan throughout footage at 2-5x speed (I've tried every setting imaginable and it's either too slow or too fast, do I just default to my mouse). How is the wheel on the CT, and can you just move your finger at different speeds to speed up/down the scanning, or is it something you need to program?
When comes to audio, with record from camera and secondary mic, just select the the video+audio track and the sec. mic audio, right button and select SYNCRONIZE! Don't need to be wasting time trying to match the audio waves.
Man, I wish I could do that for my job, but a lot of workflows are based on syncing timecodes to create multicam sync maps so the producer can let us know where to build sequences and stringouts
@Badseed Tech this is random but what ever happened to doing a full custom keyboard build, I mean I like the drop alt and what youve done to it but i would like to see what you got up your sleeve for a full on custom
@@badseedtech i hear man, just excited to see what you come up with, I honestly love watching all your reviews and im just now getting into modded and custom keyboards myself
Sometimes I just watch these videos to learn about how to make a concise watchable video. You seem to break down your video into short sections with perspectives and pros and cons for each perspective, then give your summary opinion for each section and then a final opinion/summary. That's not too hard of a concept to emulate, but what's hard is knowing which perspectives and which features to focus on. In that you seem prescient. What kind of voodoo do you use to read people's minds like that? Usually, the shortest videos that deliver good content have the most work we never see, like how many times you shot b-roll or how many debates you had about what thing to focus on and what to leave out.
Hey Brian, I'm looking for the most breathable, cool, over ear, open back headphones? What would you recommend? Least amount of heat to my ears is the priority.
if they allow to send discord messages from your account in all discards your part of, it would beat the stream deck, as well as moving from slobs to vanilla obs
Yeah I’ve kept the ALT on my main desk for juuust at a solid year now. Its less difficult to find caps for it than the SF and its hot swap so I always run all my new switches through it.
So far it is none of the three for me, as it just doesn't work as expected with Final Cut Pro X. Support is on it, but I slowly start feeling like an unpaid beta tester.
