When you said the boyfriend said get cultured before travel, all I could think was Barbara Manatee. And you can’t come because you don’t speak French! Lol
congrats on the first sponsor!! I think the all-in-one shots were framed like that because typically shot-reverse-shot requires either more time to change setups or another camera plus Cam Op and AC...meaning more money this was actually not a bad movie for a TV Christmas romcom
This is one of those guilty pleasure movies that I actually like from Hallmark Channel. It's one of the few movies on that channel that I actually like LOL I've actually gone to the Chicago parade at Thanksgiving, it always was super chilly on Turkey day when I went to it.. and it went down State Street (where the former Marshall Street flagship store was located for many many decades). And Chicago is a magnet for suburban and small town people from outside the Chicagoland area.
I've actually had my own encounter with a Hallmark Christmas movie this year. It's called Mystic Christmas, and it's about a, get this, Marine Biologist named Juniper coming to help her best friend Candice in Mystic, Connecticut with an injured seal, and having to reconnect with her former lover Swayer (Candice's brother), and along the way, learning that maybe having a home base isn't as bad as she made it out to be. I REALLY enjoyed this movie. All of the characters are likable to an extent, (Especially Juniper, who gives Marine Biologists a better name than Emily's former boyfriend in the parade movie ever did), their interactions don't feel forced, it managed to tug on my heartstrings, and it doesn't really pick a side on whether traveling or staying home is better. Rather that both have pros and cons and it depends on what kind of person you are. I definitely think you should check it out if you get a chance, Avery.
While we’re on the subject of made-for-TV holiday movies, I recently discovered this 2020 Hallmark spoof on Tubi called “Cup of Cheer.” It’s a little raunchy at times, but it perfectly covers all the basic tropes of your average formulaic romcom. 🎄
Autumn Reese and Antonio Cupo later co-starred in “I Do, I Do, I Do!” as different characters. But get this, she doesn’t end up with him, she marries his brother!
Nick DiRamio made a video about this movie too and the copy he watched also had "nutty movie night". I was actually taken aback when the MC said "naked movie night" 😂
This kinda seems like one of those Romcom movies you would put on in the background but at the same time I actually want to see this movie. Thank you for another great review Avery. And congrats on your first sponsor. Your coming up and I am excited to see where your channel goes.
“You make love sound like a suicide pact” that sounds like it would be the r-rated, kind of insensitive, South Park equivalent to “oh please, she sounds like a deodorant”
