Something about this theme song brings tears to my eyes. Takes me back to y childhood watching this show at my grandmother's house every Saturday night
I have no nostalgic memories of my childhood whatsoever. I have better things to look forward to. "For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God" (Hebrews 11:10, KJV).
@@adambrickell6425 I'm looking forward to a bright future with the Lord Jesus Christ. "For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind" (Isaiah 65:17, KJV). 10,000 years from now, I'll have a new name; but I won't remember that television had ever existed.

Was 10, the Love Boat or "la Croisière s amuse" was absolutely delightful, a moral booster, with amazing guest stars. A dream come true for a girl from the country never going on holiday... We all miss good intentions, genuine love at that time...The cast was like family visiting us....
WOW does this take me BACK!! Back to the good old days of no worries, no payments on anything, no NOTHING BUT FUN! Working 2nd shift in a cafeteria, coming home, showering, changing clothes and going out dancing till all hours! Was never better!
I knew my 1950's favorite, Rhonda Fleming, the ''Queen of Technicolor'', had appeared on ''Love Boat'', but I did not know which season, until I found this fine channel. She was quite wealthy and adulated. One time many of Hollywood's leading cinematographers held a contest to see who could find if there was any angle of Rhonda that lacked her legendary glamour look. The cameramen admitted failure: Rhonda Fleming was photographically flawless. She was never a diva and treated with respect everyone in her show business career and generous charity endeavors, particularly her endowment of a whole wing of Beth Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, that has become the model of cancer care provided to women. She also donated millions to set up a center to help children who are victims of physical and sexual abuse. God bless Rhonda Fleming!
When the rainbow was black and white on my TV without remote control on 1977 when I was only 9 years old kiddo, greetings from Virginia, The United States of America.
Amazing. I recognize nearly all of them, many I don't remember what from anymore, but I was born in 1969 and that's my childhood right there in 7 minutes.
💯 "my childhood right there in 7 minutes" NEVER missed this show on Saturday nights...Even though I was too young to watch the earlier seasons...and wouldn't have been allowed anyways as my TV watching was heavily regulated...Once I escaped confines of fundamentalist household, getting away to neighbors' homes to babysit, I never missed The Love Boat (and later Golden Girls) on Saturdays....Recognize almost all of the guest stars as well...Great, simpler times...
Wow how very nice to see an actress from the classic movies like Joan Blondell here-Joan Blondell was an excellent actress from the classic movies-She was very versatile to play both dramatic and comedic acting roles-Joan played the older waitress in the diner in the 1978 movie musical of Grease!
ABC TV 📺 and SATURDAY NIGHT was absolute gold in the late 1970's and early 1980's. Among my favorite childhood memories on television! LOVE BOAT followed by FANTASY ISLAND!!! Thanks a million!!!
Wonderful stars of movies, TV, Broadway and radio. Both young and old. I would not want to see a group of today. These stars had style, class and grace.
I'm 24 (born 2000) I have been a huge fan of Carol Lynley 4:30 since I was 10. Through her I have thankfully been introduced to these shows from the 60s, 70s, 80s. I can't get enough of them! I watch Love Boat every day at 1pm on CHCH, so grateful I can still watch them.
I asked my 18 year old son (born in 2003). He knew Debbie Allen, Todd Bridges, Richard Dawson, Lyle Waggoner, Vincent Price, Gene Rayburn, Jimmie Walker, Rue McLanahan, Jamie Lee Curtis, Cathy Lee Crosby, and David Doyle.
Thanks so much for creating this awesome video. I love seeing all the guest stars from the game shows, and top shows at the time…. Miss those amazing years …
It’s amazing the same actors appearing series after series as guest stars. Some of the greats Vincent Price , Van Johnson , Ethel Merman and many more.
The Love Boat was considered a ideal spot if you were a classic star. First, a number of them had some financial issues (think Mickey Rooney was almost bankrupt at one point) - and it was a very easy shoot. Pretty simple lines, and the crew had shooting down to a formula, so the classic stars knew they wouldn't have to work hard. Also, Aaron Spelling made sure that all of the classic stars were treated with reverence. Too many in Hollywood at that point didn't really give them a chance, but they were treated like royalty when they appeared on The Love Boat. In fact, if there were any problems between the guest stars and the cast and bit players, the guest stars would never get yelled at. Lauren Tewes (Julie) didn't understand this, treated them like other actors (and was probably a little rude) - which is why most of the time you don't see her in many scenes with the classic stars - Gavin McLeod and Bernie Kopell got a lot more screen time with them because they had experience.
Some of the “scenery” on the LB was absolutely incredible. I had giant crushes on Lisa Hartman, Erin Gray, Heather Thomas, Heather Menzies, Donna Mills, Hayley Mills, and Lauren Tewes.
How I enjoyed watching this video. It has led me to remember the Saturday afternoons when we friends used to get together when we were girls at the house of one of them to see this series that in Spain was called "Holidays at Sea". Remembering the actors and actresses you didn't know their names but you knew them all. how beautiful it has been
This video is a double edged sword...fond memories of watching the show when it aired Sat nights but seeing all the actors who have passed since then is very very depressing. The Love Boat probably can boast it had more guest stars than any other drama/comedy show in TV history, with the exception of maybe PERRY MASON.
Whenever I see these intros I can't help but smile at the hairdos and fashion. And then I wonder what my kids will think of MY looks in the 90s and 2000s haha!
Also very nice to see Bobby Van here-He was very famous in the 1970's-He had a TV show back then, and I think it was a game show in 1976,called The Fun Factory-What a pity he died very shortly in 1980!!!
Richard Dawson is from Family Feud as host and was also on match game Bert convy from the newlywed game Gene Rayburn was host of the match game along with Brett Sommers
Bert Convy hosted Tattle-Tales, Not The Newlywed Game, He almost became host of the 1990-91 run of Match Game (Which aired on ABC), However it was discovered he had a brain tumor & would pass away in 1991, In the Movie The Running Man, One of the posters for the network (ICS) had a poster for a program called The Hate Boat (Possibly a reference to Richard Dawson's appearance on TLB), His only appearance
Aaron Spelling was known for producing "glamour" type TV shows and light hearted shows like Charlie's Angels, and The Love Boat is included in that list. We need a producer now who makes shows like this.
Notable guests include members of the Ingalls family, Steve Austin & Jamie Somer’s boss, Gomez Adams, members of the Drummond family, Chachi’s cousin, Captain & Corporal from F-Troop, Gilligan & the movie star, Damon Killian, Ponch, Captain Clarence & Dr. Rumack, Mr. & Mrs. Brady, Golden Girls, John Travolta’s high school friend, former girldfriend & sister, Hotlips, Sal & finally George Costanza’s father.
In the movie The Running Man there is a poster the ICS TV network had for a program called The Hate Boat, I think most people on this page will get the reference !!!!
So basically, Melissa Sue Anderson was a guest star in the first three or four seasons. I remember watching Little House on the prairie, and although Melissa Gilbert was my age, I thought Melissa Sue Anderson was beautiful
It took quite a bit of editing to stretch out the theme song just long enough for the video. I recognized a lot of the actors and remembered what the story was if I saw another particular actor appear. For instance I remember that Norman Fell & Betty Garrett played Julie McCoy's parents early in this season.
Debra Lee Scott for the win, Dody Goodman & Dabney Coleman from Mary Hartman Mary Hartman, Ron Palillo from Welcome Back Kotter & Donna Pescow from Angie
