Hi! As a LoVe (Nu'est's fandom name) I'm here to give you a bit of extra information on Nu'est! So, yes you were right on the whole member situation. Basically, Nu'est is under Pledis Entertainment, and the company mismanaged the group so badly that they had a very underwhelming fanbase despite have very good comebacks and albums. In order to save themselves from disbandment, they went on Produce 101 Season 2 to try and save their careers. It was a huge moment in kpop because they were seniors in the industry and they lowered themselves to rookie level in order to gain fans and save their career. It had never been done before, and they got a horrendous amount of backlash for it, constantly being called cheaters and pathetic. However, in the end, their talent and kindness changed the public's opinions and they became popular. So it worked tremendously, and one of the members, Minhyun ended up debuting in Wanna One. While Minhyun promoted with Wanna One, Nu'est decided to work under the name Nu'est W (meaning Nu'est Wait) to signify that they were waiting for Minhyun to come back and complete them! Members: Baekho - Blonde in the video, more muscley than the other members, main vocal, known for his power vocals and amazing high notes. He is seen as someone who looks very imposing/threatening and manly, but he's the biggest sweetie and would never hurt a fly :) Earlier in their career, he developed really bad vocal nodules and had to get surgery. He worked very hard rehabilitating his voice and now he sings just as good if not better than before! He sings the chorus of this song - 4:32 of your video JR - The leader and rapper of the group,(AKA the best leader in all of kpop.) he used to be a shy and serious person, although as time passed, he's much more silly and open now! He has the biggest heart, and always puts others before himself. He is the reason Nu'est kept believing that they could salvage their careers. He was very close to also debuting in Wanna One but barely missed the cutoff. Many fans of the show were angered by it, because of his amazing talent and personality. Also has dressed up as Squirtle (it's his nickname) and surprised fans around Korea, he did this on his birthday! - 3:54 and 5:31 of your video Aron - He is the oldest, and also another rapper/vocalist of Nu'est. He is American, and speaks fluent English as well! He is very funny and honestly seems like he's the maknae because he's always running around and making jokes. He is the only member of Nu'est that didn't compete in Produce 101, because of a leg injury that was healing. - 4:02 and 5:39 of your video Minhyun - vocalist and 1/2 of visual line in Nu'est. He is a very nice person, and pretty quiet unless he's around people he's comfortable with. He is very intelligent, and is great at working with others. He is the member that debuted in Wanna One and recently came back! He has very beautiful falsetto vocals and smooth vocal lines. Many fans feel like they're listening to an angel when he sings. - 2:02 of your video Ren - The maknae, vocalist and 2/2 of visual line. Ren is a very fun, lively and funny maknae. He is constantly just brightening the room by being himself, no matter what. He is known for his amazing visuals, and is often seen sporting androgynous looks out of preference. He loves pushing the gender binary and doesn't mind it if people mistake him for a woman. His role model is Lady Gaga, and he's covered some of her music before. He has an amazing and funny bond with JR. He has come a long way with his vocals, as they weren't the strongest at debut, but proved his singing skills in Produce 101 when he had to lead vocals in group collaborations. - 2:34 and 6:28 of your video Songs I recommend: Face - (it was their debut song back in 2012. They had the most hyped/watched kpop debut of all time that year, it has since been overshadowed by Twice. It is an anti-bullying electro song.) Action - (the follow up to Face, a cinematic electro BOP.) Hello - (It was Nu'est's first venture past electro music into ballads) Goodbye bye - (when Nu'est married the two genres) Overcome - (the members first time being allowed to heavily write and produce their entire album.) Love paint - (the whole album got very high reviews from music critics, and i believe even nominated for awards) Where u at - (Nu'est's first release as Nu'est W) Deja Vu - (THE MOST CLASSY KPOP SONG EVER. HANDS DOWN. also Nu'est W. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND) Help Me - (I find it similar to Bet Bet but more emotional. Just pure goodness. also Nu'est W) Nu'est have been through so much together, when they constantly struggled to keep their career afloat while their company apathetically did nothing at all to help them. They consider each other brothers, and although they all could've given up on Nu'est, or pursued other interests, they all wanted nothing more than to keep making music together. I've honestly never seen such a comfortable unspoken bond between a group of people like them, and it's one of the reasons I stan so much. I can't really do their story justice, so if you ever want to, one dedicated LoVe made an entire documentary outlining their struggles and journey together. It's beautiful - (has spoilers for MV's) also you'll probably cry watching it. Ok so you were right about the member situation with one member (Minhyun) was part of wannaone for a year, this happened basucally because they had a mega successful debut and then over time when their music changed they lost many fans so they did it to raise their popularity again (it worked). Nu'est has a stroryline which is based around the premise that they're all knights and when Minhyun was a part of wannaone the storyline changed so that they were trapped in an illusion under the evil queen's curse whilst Minhyun was lost to them and he breaks free of the spell in his solo song mv 'universe' (which is spectacular) and wakes up to go save the rest of them, you can see here where he wakes and he has a choice between the blue and red door. he chooses the correct one and is reunited in utopia with his members finally creating the happily ever after. That's why at the end the four are standing at the back and he walks towards them. The last part is actually from the last song on the album 'I'm fine', the final 'chapter' of the story so to speak. Their music massively varies depending on the era you listen to, but in my opinion it has always been high quality.
Yes please! NU'EST W is the "sub-unit' when one guy is promoting in another group. Maybe you could identify the difference of music between NU'EST W and NU'EST 😉 But actually, both groups are amazing with very cool music and MVs!
NU'EST is a 5-member boy group debuted in 2012. The leader is JR ( Kim Jonghyun) iscthe main rapper , with a very deep low vocal ( the one dancing in the water). Aron is from LA who started learing Koean when he first came to Seoul. He is the eldest and just turned 26 this May. He is a vocal and rapper ( esp in English and he in recent times sings more than rap). Baekho ( Kang Dongho) is the kain vocal ( the blonde hair guy) with very powerful vocal and hits high notes without difficulty ( a praise from some vocal trainers in Kpop industry ). He is also the producer ( composing & writing lyrics for almost all group songs since 2017, title songs & b-side songs). Unlike many kpop idols, he has s strong physical built His six-pack abds is no joke. Minhyun ( Hwang Minghyun) is the lead vocal and is great at falsetto. Ren ( Choi Minki) is the vocal ( the one that sings umm umm) and super fans of Lady Gaga. He is the youngest member ( actually all the Korean members are born in 1995 and he is youngest in terms of month; so although they have debuted for 7 years and all of them will just turn 24 this year). Their debut song FACE ( about bullying in school) had been the most viewed debut song of boy-group until mid- 2018 and it reached 100million one day before the release of their sixth mini album Happy Ever after with BET BET as the title song. This group had a good start but due to mismanagement of their company, their popularity continued to drop to the point that they nearly disbanded in early 2016. They tried their last effort to stay together by joining a survival show Produce 101 season 2 ( out of 101 competitors, the final 11 will form a temporary boy group for 18 months). Finally, Minhyun got the 9th position and promoted as member of Wannaone until the end of January 2019. JR (14th), Baekho (13th) , Ren (20th) and Aron ( didn't join due to leg injury) formed the sub-unit " NU'EST W" while waiting for Minhyun. Hi! New Subscriber here! Okay so that scene at the end of the main song that you were wondering about. Essentially shows Minhyun ( the member who was promoting with WannaOne temporarily) by himself. Kinda lost and looking at the two sides. Ultimately choosing the blue side, which bring him back to being with the other members who have been waiting for him to come back in their Utopia. (While he was gone from the group they promoted as NuestW, and the W stood for waiting) From what I can tell they played his absence into their fairy tale series by saying that he went off to a different universe/reality. Right before this Minhyun released the mv for his solo song “Universe” (highly recommend if you maybe want to try following the story) that shows him in the other universe trying to go back home. And is finally back to be with the others. Ultimately having Nuest all together again :) it’s really confusing, but their past few videos have all been connected. Sorry this is super long. But when I first watched this end scene I cried because of the meaning behind it. Nuest deserves so much recognition for their talent and love as a group. Omg I love Nu'est! I have been listening to them since a year after they debuted. They have a hard time over the years but they still keep coming back with great music. You should really check out Dejavu or Help Me songs from their sub group Nu'est W (Nu'est Waiting since they were waiting for Minhyun to come back from promoting with Wanna One) Dejavu is probably one of my favorite songs of all time. It sounds like nothing I've heard before.

From what I know, this is kinda like the ending to the story they started in 2016 with their song Overcome. When Nu'est debut in 2012 they where very well known, and for the longest time the M/V for their debut song Face had the most views for a debut song. So to think that it took over a year for their song Love Paint to get just 1mio view just breaks my heart. They really just made a reversed BTS. If Minhyun chose that, he might meet the real NUEST W which is the one waiting in NUESTW MV Help Me ending. (We are speculating that would be the next cb concept) After Utopia part is Minhyun’s Universe in which he realised it was just fantasy. We still do not know where is BET BET in the timeline as you can see in 12:35 of your video, the water reflects the Utopia part.

As he was promoting in WANNA ONE, the other 3 members plus Aron who didn't participate in Produce 101 promoted as NU'EST W (the w stands for waiting b/c they aren't NU'EST unless they are 5). Wanna One disbanded in January 2019 b/c thats how the produce 101 groups work and now they are FINALLY doing well as the 5 member group they were meant to be.

Since you seem to really be a fan of Minhyun's vocals, you should definitely react to the music video for his solo song Universe. It kinda leads up to this song (which I think I saw explained in another comment) and is so SO good! Also, mvs for their bops like Dejavu and Help Me (by NU'EST W, their subunit without Minhyun) are really amazing, amongst many others. 100% worth seeing and hearing :)))

I know someone might have talked about Nu'est reversal, but I'm not sure if they mentioned about their important song for the reversal, called Hello. Thru pd101 s2, people get exposed abt them, they try listen to their songs, and Hello get the most attention. Especially when it got mentioned by BTS'S RM and because it's one song that probably most of koreans have heard and like, but never knew it was Nu'est song. So, regarding pd101, they didn't win. Only Minhyun managed, so people were worried abt the rest of the boys. We all searched and kept track of Nu'est old contents and tracks. So their songs climbed up the kor chart and Hello ranked to no 4 (if I'm not mistaken) and maintain its position within top 10 for a while. And thanks to that, and the boys sincerety and loyalty, Nu'est W is created. And thus, Minhyun could returned with ease, with stable platform that nu'est w and the fans worked hard for ☺

The rapper of Nuest JR is a good friend with Taeyong (NCT), they are the same age and they chat alot etc. That friendship is so adorable 😇 I have a special place in my heart for Nuest and BTOB (hope you can react to them at some point) they are so long in kpop world, they did so much, and they are still beautiful humans.. I have so much respect for them. LOVEs and Melody are two beautiful and strong fandoms 🙏
